My wife and I found the photos and the location reviews to be spot on. The property was as described and contained a convenient kitchenette (fully equipped), and nice master suite, and adjoining living room. The covered patio with direct access onto the pool terrace was also a favorite spot. We used the kitchenette for making breakfast and dining in two nights.
We also inquired and took Ricardo’s recommendation to take a rental car. This was helpful for gathering supplies at the Supermercados Nactional, which was located just two round-abouts away from the airport on the left side of the highway tucked away in a mall area. We also came back to this area to eat at the restaurants Mamma Luisa and a Mexican next door, El Burrito. This was about a 10 minute drive from the condo.
Also about 10 minutes away, but in the opposite direction, was our favorite daily spot - Juanillo Beach. There is a very clean, convenient beach bar with good food, fresh fish, vegetables, burgers, pizza, etc, and of course drinks. They have several “palapas” covered lounge area with beach chairs under them. This combined with the number of palm trees on the beach was helpful to avoid the sun. A very nice manager there named Napoleon.
As others described – it often felt as though you had the resort to yourself. This was especially noticeable when you went to dine at the on-site restaurants. You might be the only guests enjoying dinner while you were there. We followed the recommendation of one of the owners we talked with about a Thai style restaurant at the Marina, and then we went to another recommendation from Napoleon also located at the Marina (Costa Hip Cuisine); but I don’t recall the names. Either way, both were good for a night out. We also went to La Yola. We found that the easiest way to make your way to this restaurant was to follow the property line, and then request the security guard at the adjoining property to let you pass through the gate (see map #7). They were very friendly and accommodating. That had a nice beachy atmosphere.
I found a series of maps online to be very helpful (www.putnacanatv.com/maps) – these were good for getting my bearing, finding a gas station (Shell) to fill up the rental, and how to make our way around from the airport, supermarket, beaches and restaurants. I did not feel comfortable driving too far at night.
Bottom-line we enjoyed ourselves and would look forward to returning.

Hemos disfrutado plenamente de nuestra vacaciones , el departamento, es totalmente funcional y cómodo, , bien equipado , faltan pequeños elementos en la cocina como un abre-latas o un tirabuzón, pero en general la cocina esta muy bien equipada , el sitio encantador, y limpio, el personal, discreto y competente.
Richard, disponible totalmente en todo momento, gracias Richard por el Ron y la tableta para cortar frutas. Para disfrutar de su autonomía, necesita un auto.
El supermercado el Nacional, muy completo, y tiene productos biológicos, esta a 10 minutos.
Experiencia a repetir.

We had a fabulous time at Cap Cana, Fishing Lodge. Our accommodations were incredible, the property is very beautiful and the staff extremely friendly. We loved it! The beaches are so pretty, with shaded cabanas and servers that come to you for food and drink. The pools are spectacular! It is without a doubt an amazing property!
We had the place to ourselves, which was a bit odd, but made it feel really special. It was a bit annoying only having one restaurant option for each meal, but the food they served was delicious. We got to know the staff at the Bistro and they made us feel right at home. They made us a wonderful traditional Dominican meal that was not on the menu. It was so delicious!
The water Taxi drivers were the only staff we encountered that were not wonderful. Both drivers were unprofessional and late, which is especially annoying since you are dependent on them to return from the beach.
Overall, I would without a doubt recommend coming here to anyone looking for relaxation in paradise.

Loved this Condo!

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful resort! The condo was even better than described. Not only was it very roomy, clean and comfortable but it was also pretty to look at. We especially loved the walk-out patios--one from the bedroom and one from the living room. We spent a lot of time out there looking out at the lovely pool view. There were many extras that made our stay even more comfortable, like robes and a blow dryer.
The Fishing Lodge/Marina Sands resort was a great place to be. The grounds were very well maintained and beautiful to look at, the staff was extremely friendly and the restaurants were very good. The resort was not very busy, so we felt like we had the place to ourselves, which was very peaceful and relaxing. The location of the resort is also very convenient to other activities. It is only about a 10 minute drive to get to Punta Cana Village, Playa Juanillo, and Playa Blanca. It is about 25 minutes from shopping in the town of Bavaro. We went horseback riding and on an ecological tour from the Punta Cana Resort, which was also about 10-15 minutes away (the resort helped make these reservations). The closest beach, Api, can be reached by car (if you have one) or by a free water taxi that leaves from the resort every hour.
The owner, Richard, was very helpful throughout our stay. For example, we were flying standby and unable to leave Punta Cana on the day we thought we were to leave. I called Richard from the airport and he extended our stay, making the arrangements with the resort. We were able to stay in our same "home away from home" for another night, which was very comforting. Richard was in Spain when I called him, but he still answered his phone and helped us out. That is what I call customer service!
All in all, I can't recommend this resort and condo enough. We had a relaxing and fun-filled vacation thanks to our accommodations.

The unit is exactly as the photos show it, which is to say beautiful. I stayed in a top floor unit so the balcony gets all the morning sunshine. Great view of the whole resort, pool and ocean. I booked this place for a relaxing, sunny get away, it was perfect. Cap Cana is a new resort designed as a charming village with shops and restaurants. At this time only 1 restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner and then lunch by the pool, another is supposed to open soon. There are supposed to be restaurants in the marina but I didn't get over there. A gift shop and disco are open with more shops coming. As a result it is a beautiful, peaceful place. The next property over has a beach or a cab will take you to Juanillo beach, white sand and turquoise water.Lots of side trips you can book off property.

My wife, my daughter and I spent one week at the Fishing Lodge and all of us loved it! This is a beautiful place at a very reasonable price. Richard (the owner) was extremely helpful throughout the process and during our stay. If you're looking for a nice, relaxing place with very few people and beautiful beaches you must check this place out. If you like lots of people, activities and crowded beaches this is not the place.

We enjoyed our recent vacation, staying at the Fishing Lodge in Cap Cana. The condo is exactly as described/pictured and it was very convenient to have the kitchenette with microwave/cook-top and fridge.
The access to the pools directly off the terrace was also wonderful; the pools are pristine and were virutally unoccupied every time we were there. (No struggles to find a lounge chair, as is often the experience at some other resorts!).
The restaurants were ok...there was limited selection and usually only one restaurant open at a time. We definitely preferred "outside" for dinner.
I would definitely recommend renting a car. It provides easy access to travel to other points within Cap Cana and to also venture to Punta Cana/beyond. I would recommend arranging this before arrival and picking the car up at the airport. There is a shuttle available within Cap Cana but you often have to wait for it and having a car gives you a lot more flexibility.
We really enjoyed Juannilo beach...again, easy access to loungers, beautiful beach and good service from the bar.
Overall, we were were very pleased with the condo and our time in Cap Cana!

Fishing Lodge is awesome for those who want luxury, but not the crowds of "all-inclusive." We felt like we were in a secluded little village, with all the high-end amenities...but not all the tourists and large crowds associated with Punta Cana.
This condo specifically was just great. The quality of the decor was unbeatable, from appliances to fixtures to furniture. The condo is beautifully located just by the swimming pool, and made for great evenings of cheese and wine on the patio.
There are several beaches within a few minutes drive...either via car or by golf cart. Each one of them was beautiful. We visited Apie, Jaunillo, Playa Blanca, and Caleton - and loved them all.
The only 2 things to improve would be the laundry service (which is basically like at a hotel...leave items in a bag and itemized laundering fees), which isn't very convenient when traveling with a family. I'd recommend getting a condo with the laundry built in, or just be aware and not plan to do laundry; and second that it is very much a work in progress. So while all of the staff are extremely accommodating, there is still a lot under construction and a bit of confusion about certain offers. For example, we were told incorrect tennis court fees and that we could pay by credit card, but when we arrived at the courts (different resort), the price was different and we could not pay by credit. There were a few similar incidents, again, I think because of the newness of the resort.
But overall, simply awesome, and those were so minor compared to the overwhelming positives. Ricardo was great and always ready to answer questions by email or phone (ie, what restaurant does he recommend? What beaches? etc, etc). We are already planning our trip again next year, and hope to rent again from Ricardo.

The Fishing Lodge is a wonderful place to be when you are looking to relax and enjoy the wonderful Dominican climate while in a 5-star environment. The condo was immaculate and the Richard's (the owner) customer service was exceptional.
I have already recommended the place to many friends and I will certainly be staying there again.

The best option to stay at Punta Cana with a really appealing price. Averall, it is a beautiful studio apartment, very well decorated and with great amenities. The room was really clean, like in the pictures, it is definitely worthy. The staff attention could not have been better, super polite and friendly. Fishing Lodge has a pretty good Restaurant open every day of the week, perfect for a nice and fancy dinner. Besides this the Cap Cana Resort beaches are just gorgeous. Lastly, the owner, Ricardo is super responsible, he constantly made sure me and my family were having a good time, he even arranged transportation for us from/to the airport with his chauffer. It was simply one of the best vacations I have ever had.
