We were pleasantly surprised with the beach rental. After Vicki's bad review we were hesitant about renting. She must have been having a bad day. The house was a perfect family rental. A very homey, comfortable beach house. As soon as my 5 children explored and picked their rooms and started moving in, I knew it would be a great time. My family had a relaxing and wonderful time. It is a short walk from the beach, the appliances were new and everything worked. The 2nd floor bathroom was a huge hit with the big tub!! The outside shower was great and the gas grill was an added perk. The beach is beautiful and a great place to walk along the water. I grew up in Milford but never went to the private Laurel community, I wish we had. What a tranquil , family getaway. I will definitely bring my family back again , to enjoy my home town. We had a chance to walk by the wildlife sanctuary and it was another hidden treasure. We ate at our favorite restaurant Gusto's Trattoria on the Post Road several times and one night at Lassies. Everything you need is right there or a short drive. Joe Bennett is accommodating and a pleasure to work with. I look forward to another Laurel Beach vacation at Laurel Beach 930929!!

We stayed at the house for a week. we comfortably fit (5 kids, 2 adults). I loved the quaintness of the house. It is a relaxing atmosphere with all your basic needs. The outdoor shower was a huge help and big deal, loved that. Beach is very rocky and full of shells, but very quiet. Never saw more than 15 people out there!
We had a great time and enjoyed real family-time.

Quaint Charm and Beautiful Beach

Our family of four and extended family of 2 or 3, slept comfortably in this home and other family members who visited during our stay fit very comfortably in the dining and living rooms. We also enjoyed outdoor dining with the extra table & chairs and grill. The house is vintage with beautiful wood detailing and we definitely appreciated the antique pieces throughout. A previous reviewer mentioned that 2 of the bedrooms were separted by a partition but we greatly appreciated having that openness to our kids' room. In addition, the master bedroom is very large (king bed) and we felt we had more than enough privacy. The up and downstairs bathrooms both had showers in addition to a great outdoor shower (which we used the most), the enclosed porch was terrific for evening chats, the kitchen had everything we needed, and we were also able to find plenty of towels, beach towels, beach chairs, pots, pans & spices and toiletries. The property manager was very helpful and the beach was about 100 yards away. We had a great time digging for and eating steamers and loved how quiet the beach was throughout our stay. The owner was very responsive and if we stay in the Laurel Beach area again, we'll see if this house is available. I do believe some people would consider this vintage home outdated but we found it absolutely charming!

Laurel Beach House

The house itself was a nice older home with antiques throughout. The private beach was only a three minute walk away. We enjoyed the lack of restriction on alcoholic beverages on the beach. You can bring your cooler loaded with whatever you want to the beach as long as you clean up after yourself. The neighbors were nice and the area was pleasant. The house was only about ten minutes from the Post Road and I95. We had a great stay and would definately come back.

Five people, two parents, one son and two grand children stayed in this property for a week. The house was very comfortable and well placed for the beach, shops and highways without having traffic passing all day and night. We had everything we needed for a holiday stay and plenty of wildlife around including ground hogs, which the grand kids had never seen, in the field opposite. There were Monk Parakeets and robins in the garden, quite different from the robins in English gardens. Fantastic area to explore and the nearness of a Golf course meant the men could play golf. There was fishing and we saw sea robins, flounders and blue fish being landed including landing one undersize flounder and returning it. We had visited the area many times before. We would happily return to this same property which we found suited our needs perfectly.

I rented this house for my family of eight which includes a pregnant woman, a 22 month old child and a four year old. Upon arrival I was shocked. I had used Homeaway before and always had a good experience. The house was old and so was everything in it. It was really dirty and greasy. The upholstered furniture was covered by a slipcover and was stained and had cigarette burns in it. Later the property manager said it was well over thirty years old. In the kitchen there was opened food and drinks in the cabinets and fridge as well as numerous medicines. The breakfast nook is pictured with a blanket on the bench,it is covering a tear repaired by electrical tape. There were supposed to be three bedrooms. There were two. The second third used to be separated by a closet but that had been torn out. The small bedroom had an airconditioner in the window. It was secured by the storm window and painters tape. The second/third had a portable unit that was vented out the window by its hose, that was secured by pianters tape as well. Very scary. There were some makeshift shelving units that were unfinished and very sharp. When I asked the owner he said" well there are three bedroom doors!" The two bathrooms had used soap and shampoos in them. The towels that were provided were just leftovers from previous guests. The handheld shower heads each had broken hoses. The property manager suggested we shower outside. He did however, come back with two hoses. Later the owner said he wouldn't have replaced them. The front door on the porch was locked with a chain lock that could be opened with one hand. Most of the doors and window locks didn't work and with no curtains or blinds on the first floor it was scary. The front porch steps were broken and had no rail. There was one smoke detector on the second floor and the only kind of fire extinguisher was a 14 oz. can of something that was meant to stop a fire in a pot. We tried to contact the owner as soon as we arrived and we started calling homeaway as well as trying to find another place to go. We had to stay until Monday morning before we found something, that I had to pay for out of pocket. I did purchase carefree rental guarantee and am hoping to recover something. The owner was not helpful neither was the property manager. The owner insulted me and talked in circles having an answer for everything. The beach was lovely but and I would never recommend this home.. I gave it one star because you can not post zero stars !
Owner's Response: Please check out the photos of the new leather couch.
Just a reminder that Linens and Towels are provided including the sheets for the King-sized bed and are always freshly laundered.
Also told the cleaning crew to throw out everything in the fridge cabinets or pantry.

We had a wonderful time in this great old house. The house was not the cleanest home we have ever rented, but we really loved the character of this house. It had wonderful big rooms and we really enjoyed the enclosed front porch. The beach was very nice and we saw 20 horseshoe crabs on our last day. I would definitely recommend this home, but as I said it is not good for folks who want their rental spotless. The kitchen appliances were in need of cleaning, but the dishes all seemed to be clean, so I can overlook this. Just a note that I don't believe is listed is the fact that the coffee pot is a Keurig which requires the K-cups. We had such a good time that we have already talked about returning.
Owner's Response: Glad that enjoyed the beach and are thinking about renting again!
All the kitchen appliances are Brand new.The GE Real Life Design self-cleaning Gas range features professional style cooktop surface wuth double grates. No need to lift the cooking pots as you can slide them sideways or front to back over the burners.
The fridge features an ice-cube maker and chilled filtered water with double doors.
I have passed along your comments to the cleaning service.
Thanks again for renting at Laurel Beach and please come back.

Overall a great value for the price

This house was in a great location, very very roomy, clean and well-maintained and in a quiet neighborhood. The owner was very easy to work with and I would recommend this property to others. Overall a great value for the price but I did have a few concerns. The picture in the description gives the impression that you could easily access the beach or boardwalk, but we couldn't find a public entrance (all were private only). I was also a little concerned about the security and safety. Many of the door and window locks were broken or simply didn't work, there were no smoke detectors, and there were no curtains or blinds on any of the downstairs windows. In the evenings we felt like we were on display for the neighborhood. We had to reposition the furniture to block the doors in order to make sure we were safe. Luckily, it's in a great neighborhood so we weren't too worried. :-)
Owner's Response: You access the beach and boardwalk thru the private gate marked "Laurel Beach".
Laurel Beach is an exclusive private beach for the use of its members and guests and renters and guests.
There is a fire extinguisher and smoke detector.
