Photos and Description of the Volimes vacation villa rental
PRICES REDUCED 2013 A beautiful traditionally built stone house

Aeolus and Stavlo comprise one property nestled on the hillside in the beautiful village of Korythi overlooking the Ionian Sea. The property comprises of the main house with a spacious double bedroom and a mezzanine with a single bed. Stavlo, the adjacent studio to Aeolus has a double and two single beds. The property is set amongst olive and cypress trees with impressive views across the sea and mountains. If you are looking for privacy and tranquility then this is the villa for you. evenThe main bedroom, perfect for the honey mooning couple has french windows onto the verandah overlooking the sea. The pool is set in established gardens with palm trees, the fragrance of jasmine and oleander fill the air. Just simply the most beautiful place to be....

Stavlo is a self contained studio with it's own kitchen and wet room. This is very popular with teenagers.

A feature of this property is it's extensive terraces with a wide range of seating areas to accomodate extensive outside al freso dining. There is also an outside kitchen /eating room, boasting a BBQ, rotisserie and outside oven. Perfect for shade in the heat of the day and romantic candle lit dinners under the stars. All meals are normally taken outside during the summer months either by the barbecue area or on the terrace tables.

The villa posses a charm all of it's own, has all mod cons but keeps it's great greek feel!

St Nikolas Port is approximately 4 min away by car and offers a lovely beach with free sunbeds and excellent tavernas. Long Beach is a large beach approximately 15 min away again with good tavernas. And on the coast road (the road you will journey on from the airport to the Villa) there are a number of other accessible beaches. There are also many isolated coves which can be accessed by boat, boat hire also being available locally. The sea is perfectly clean and most of the beaches are stony rather than sandy in the north of the island (covered with a light shale). There are a large number of tavernas available within 10 to 20 min of the Villa, and especially across the mountain range to Volimes and Anovolimes.

PELIGONI, is an exclusive sailing club located approximately 5 min away from the villa. The club offers a wide range of sailing activities, waterskiing, tennis, table tennis and superb dining. Check out party night on Wednesdays and Saturdays for fun and frolics!

For those searching for a lively night life on the island this can be found at Alikes, Alkanas and further away down south at Lagana (famous for the Loggerhead Turtles). There is something for everyone.

Boats can be hired locally to visit the remote beaches, caves and beachside tavernas, you can also take escorted trips to the Blue Caves, famous Shipwreck Cove and ancient monasteries. There are daily ferries from the nearby port that go to Kefalonia (Captain Correlli's Island) and ferries to the Pelaponese on the mainland and other islands that go from the main Zakynthos town port.

Zakynthos town is approximately 30 minutes by car and is a thriving cosmopolitan town, rich with history and beautiful architecture. It has a wide range of shops, bars and restaurants and is well worth a visit. The port for mainland Greece (about 1 hour away by ferry) is situated adjacent to the town. The town has an outside theatre and busy nightlife.

The villa is set on a hillside in the beautiful village of Korithi. St Nikolas port, which has 2 medium-sized supermarkets is only 4 min away by car. If it is each Friday night in the port there is a great Greek evening at the L'Astoria Taverna on the beach with live music and dancing. On Tuesday evening's Nobelos a lovely Taverna by the sea holds a fine dining and live music evening under the pine trees.

The village of Volimes, is well worth a visit and attracts tourists visiting the locally made beautiful crafts. the village of Katastari is some 30 min from the Villa where there are a number of larger supermarkets selling a larger range of products. The island itself is approximately 25 miles long by 3 miles wide and is covered with a central mountainous spine, olive groves, cypress trees and orange and lemon orchards. The views and around the island and in particular the north of stunning and well worth exploring.

Aeolus is our much loved summer home. We have had the villa for approximately 12 years and spend a lot of our time out there in the summer, letting it out only when we come back to the UK. This means that it is more homely and comfortable than properties that are purely furnished for the letting market and an additional income.

About SHARON WEBSTER

We bought the land with the view to having a small quiet village location for our second (holiday) home. The original house was taken down and many of the original materials were used to build the new house, Aeolus. Stavlo is a renovated stable and has all it's original charm. We did not want to let such a beautiful place stay empty when we could not be there, so sharing it with like minded people led us to the holiday rental of the villa.

SHARON WEBSTER purchased this villa in 2001
Why SHARON WEBSTER chose Volimes

The northern part of the Island is so special. The sea, mountains and the pretty little port of Aghious Nikolas, as well as the Peligoni Sailing Club so close were key reasons for this location. The local greek people are so friendly and helpful and there is always the feeling of being safe.

What makes this villa unique

The unique features of the Villa are the stunning views of both the sea and the mountains, the privacy and the amazing gardens and pool. There are many terraces on different levels and each one so different you couldn't possibly get bored! There is aways somewhere to sit in the sun and shade.

Return Visit To A Little Piece Of Paradise

5 of 5
Submitted: March 10, 2013 Stayed: September 2012
This was our 2nd visit to Aeolus/Stavlo this year, we first went out in May at fairly short notice and absolutely fell in love with it. Driving through the gates you were instantly confronted with a lush oasis of olive trees in blossom, bird of paradise plants and established beds of geraniums in full bloom all surrounding the pool. On our return visit the geraniums had been superseded by an array of bougainvillea giving an equally impressive backdrop while enjoying a relaxing day by the pool.
we stayed in Stavlo on both occasions and no stone is left unturned by the owner to ensure your stay is as comfortable and memorable as it can possibly be. The house was spotlessly clean and decorated in a traditional greek style.
Aeolus is a fantastic house, again decorated to a traditional Greek, very high standard. On our return visit we noticed the doors and kitchen units had all been repainted in a gorgeous duck egg blue which seemed to bring an additional brightness into each room. Breakfast was taken on the balcony which is accessed from the living room and from which you are afforded a great view over the sea with views of the Greek mainland in the distance. One morning we ventured up into the hill behind the house to view the sunrise, which was definitely worth the early morning alarm!
We would have no concerns in recommending Aeolus/Stavlo to anyone visiting the northern area of Zakynthos, however, the one additional feature added since our first visit I believe sets it out above many others. During the summer the owner built a fantastic barbeque area, enclosed on 3 sides it has a table which seats at least 12 people, a woodburning barbeque and a commercial fridge in which a large stock of your favourite beverages can be stored without ever needing to wander back into the house all evening, this is a brilliant additional facility.
St Nicholas port is a 2 minute drive away and has some good quality tavernas
serving traditional fare but it is definitely worth driving out a little further, no longer than a 10 minute drive, for that special night out. Oh and a B52 in Sophia's Art Bar is a definite "Must Do".
Looking forward to another return visit in the not too distant future.
Nicky & Steve
Owner's Response: Dear Nicky and Steve,

ANOTHER FANTASTIC BOURN FAMILY HOLIDAY!!!

5 of 5
Submitted: July 9, 2012 Stayed: June 2012
WE HAVE HOLIDAYED ON ZANTE MANY TIMES, IN THE SOUTH, AND DECIDED TO TRY THE NORTH OF THE ISLAND FOR A CHANGE. WE WERE NOT DISAPPOINTED! WE RENTED THE FULL PACKAGE (AEOLUS AND STAVLO) FOR 10 NIGHTS IN EARLY JUNE 2012. EVERYTHING FROM DAY ONE WAS FANTASTIC, MY INLAWS STAYED IN THE STAVLO AND MYSELF, HUSBAND AND CHILDREN, 11 AND 7, IN THE AEOLUS. WE HAVE STAYED IN MANY VILLAS, ON SEVERAL GREEK ISLANDS AND THIS IS UP WITH THE BEST OF THEM. ENORMOUS GROUNDS, LOVELY GARDEN, MY INLAWS ENJOYED DOING A LITTLE BIT OF GARDENING, HUGE POOL, BIGGEST PRIVATE POOL WE HAVE HAD YET AND STUNNING VIEWS. FANTASTIC VILLA, SPOTLESSLY CLEAN AND VERY WELL EQUIPT, IF THERE WAS SOMETHING MISSING THEN YOU OBVIOUSLY DIDN'T NEED IT, SHARON HAD THOUGHT OF EVERYTHING. MY CHILDREN MADE ME PACK THEIR SWIMMING GEAR IN OUR HAND LUGGAGE SO THAT THEY DIDN'T HAVE TO WAIT FOR ME TO UNPACK AND THEY WERE IN THE POOL LIKE A FLASH AND BASICALLY DIDN'T GET OUT!!! SUCH A LOVELY PEACEFUL LOCATION AND WITH ZANTE BEING SUCH A SMALL ISLAND IT IS A PERFECT BASE TO RETURN TO AFTER EXPLORING THE REST OF IT. FINALLY, THANK YOU SHARON FOR LETTING US INTO YOUR HOME OUR HOLIDAY WAS FANTASTIC!!! WE WOULDN'T HESITATE IN RECOMMENDING YOUR VILLA.

honeymoon paradise.

5 of 5
Submitted: June 29, 2012 Stayed: May 2012
The Photos on this website convinced us to stay here for our honeymoon but they dont do justice to how special a place Aeolus is. The small village setting is idyllic and arriving at the house from the little lane feels so special every time you get there.
The grounds have been lovingly and creatively designed, and there are plenty of different areas to relax in, each with amazing floral displays and lush plant life including pick your own fruit!!, the olive trees are very mature and have been included in the gardens architecture. The pool is amazing, it almost feels like you have a hotel sized one to yourselves, and we loved the way the water overflows so there will never be even a single leaf to blemish its blue tempting surface.
The only problem is that Aeolus is so beautiful we found it hard to find the will to explore the island, which at the northern end where the villa sits is very tranquil and quiet but certainly not lacking in exciting places to visit and lovely tavernas to eat at.
Inside Aeolus the open plan downstairs feels nice and cool and with all the doors open it nearly becomes part of the garden. The kitchen has everything you need to cook, and if you breakfast out the back, the window by the sink acts as a great serving hatch. (great sink by the way)
The bathroom is a wet room and it feels great to have so much room to shower.
Upstairs you reach the bedroom which has a really comfy and large bed which you can lay in and look out at the amazing see view. Lisa and i both loved the large veranda/balcony which has views the length of the island and out to sea, we had plenty of lazy lunches sat there, it was our favorite part of Aeolus.
the upstairs also has a small single bed which any kid would love.
We didn't obviously use the studio that comes with the villa but a quick look showed it had a charm of its own and looked fun.
Over all we have so many beautiful memories of this beautiful place, we feel very lucky to have chosen it to have our honeymoon at and know that we will certainly come again.
Thanks Sharon for letting us stay

Owner's Response: Many thanks to Mike and Lisa for such a great review. I consider Aeolusvilla to be an ideal location for honeymoon couples for many reasons but especially for it's privacy and intimacy of the house, garden's and pool. How wonderful to swim at midnight in your own private pool, lights on gazing up to the stars in the amazing clear sky. Aeolusvilla is simply the most beautiful place to be.......xx

Simply Sublime

5 of 5
Submitted: June 11, 2012 Stayed: May 2012
Aeolus is like a little piece of heaven tucked away in a quiet and unspoilt village in the hills. We had a fabulous week staying in the Stavlo apartment – each time we came through the door into the villa grounds it felt like entering a secret garden – absolutely idyllic. There are a multitude of quiet places to sit during the day or the evening, each with it’s own view – we were really spoilt for choice – but a favourite was the roofside terrace, perfect for that end of the day G&T!

Usually it takes a few days to wind down on holiday – but within less than a day we were both completely relaxed and enjoying the seclusion, quietness and stunning beauty of the villa and it’s wonderfully colourful and lovingly tended grounds.

Both the main villa and Stavlo are superbly well equipped with everything you could ask for or need to use – it’s truly a “home from home”. You can get fresh bread (and HUGE donuts too!) from the bread delivery van that calls down the lane each morning – nothing quite like fresh bread & Greek honey with your morning coffee on the sunny lower terrace.

Ag Nik Port is still relatively unspoilt and quiet, especially “out of season” when we visited. We tried out several restaurants and loved them all – the Art Café Bar up the hill out of town is a “must visit” place too.

A boat trip to the Blue Caves and Shipwreck Cove were definitely on the agenda– absolutely spectacular scenery and an all round fabulous day out. But I have to say the majority of our time was spent chilling by the Villa poolside – it was hard to tear ourselves away from it most days!

We can’t recommend Aeolus highly enough and will definitely be returning again as soon as we can!
Owner's Response: Thanks to Nicki and Steve for such a great review. This emphasise the beauty and flexibility of having 2 houses (Aeolus and Stavlo). Couples can spend their holiday together without being on top of each other. Stavlo is also enormously popular with young people who like the idea of having a pad of their own, but parents can still keep a watching brief!

We came to the house tired and in need to creature comforts after a week sailing around Kefalonia, and had a fabulous stay. The house is perfect, and as for the garden...

There's everything here that you need for a brilliant holiday: wonderful pool, very comfortable house with all mod cons (including air conditioning), great barbecue area and superb location. There's also help on hand if you need it, in Barbara the manager who knows what to do, where to go and how to get there.

We've stayed in several top-end villas in places like California and Tuscany and this is right up there with the very best. A real stunner of a holiday home and every bit as good as the photos.

Fantastic villa

5 of 5
Submitted: August 1, 2011 Stayed: July 2011
We stayed a week at Aeolus at the end of July (after a week at another villa in the south of the island). The villa is fantastic - lovingly furnished (feels like you're staying at a friend's house, not a rental place) with lots of great touches (heaps of kitchen equipment if you're cooking at the house, hammock under a huge olive tree, toys for the pool etc), fab swimming pool, and gorgeous gardens with plenty of shady spots and sunloungers alike. The location is stunning - short drive to the port where you can buy all the essentials, a few lovely pebbly beaches not too far away (we spent a lot of time at Makris Gialos as was easy to access with our toddler son), lots of good local tavernas to choose from (all require a short car journey), and boat trips to the shipwreck and blue caves from the light-house point. If you're looking for somewhere to relax and see the unspoilt, rustic, quiet Zante, this villa is perfect.

Just a note for those travelling with toddlers - Sharon provided a brilliant v large travel cot for our 1 and half yr old, and Barbara found us a brilliant local babysitter. There is v efficient air con in the main blue bedroom, so if your child is sleeping in here you won't have any problem with temperature, there were also lots of mozzy plug-ins provided and in fact we had no problem with mozzies at all (there were several wasps / honey bees round the edges of the pool, although we soon found they weren't at all interested in us, just the water, and all gone by early evening). There are a few things you need to watch out for around the house/garden (obv the pool is not fenced off, and there is a steep drop from the terrace wall), but you can see all this in the photos of the house which give you a v good overall sense of the house. Our little boy is fairly adventurous and he had a great time running around the garden and exploring the house.

2 very nice weeks at Aeolus

When surfing on the internet, looking for a nice place to stay in Greece, I immediately fell in love with Aeolus! To be sure, I kept on surfing for something better, but we couldn't find it. It must have been love at first sight, so we decided to go to Aeolus. When the payment moment came, I felt some uncertainties. We did not know this site, nor Sharon. But it al turned out very, very well!
It was the first time, that the place was even better than the pictures on the site. The place is made with so much love, we could really feel the love and passion. Aeolus is situated in the upper north part of the island, where we have enjoyed a lot of adventurous hikes with spectacular views on Kefalonia. We also loved the nice restaurant in the nearby port where we could eat with our feets on the beach. We also spent a lot of hours in and around the pool and evenings under the stars, sitting on the balcony with a nice view.
We stayed here for 2 weeks with our family with 2 young kids (4 and 2). We had a very pleasant time and thank Sharon a lot for 'making' this place!
Kind regards,
Mirjam

Early summer break with friends

Submitted: June 2, 2011 Stayed: May 2011
We visited mid May 2011 with another two couples for one week.

We all thoroughly enjoyed Aeolus even though the make-up of our party was not the best fit for the sleeping arrangements (not a criticism - we expected this!). The villa, garden with its olive trees, pool, and terrace views (we watched lightning over the sea one evening) are all beautiful and a delight to the senses. The facilities were all well-maintained and presented, and the pool condition was checked for us. Try an early morning swim when all is calm for a special wake-up.

The island has a mixture of rural and urbanised areas, for us the highlights were the local port with its boat trips and relaxed tavernas, swimming and sunbathing in isolated coves, eating out - we found all the tavernas we used provided excellent service and food, and all the greeks we met were extremely friendly and helpful. People sitting by the road will come up and offer help with directions if you're looking at a map !

Car hire probably essential.

October Aeolus

5 of 5
Submitted: October 31, 2010 Stayed: October 2010
We took a last minute break to get some Mediterranean sunshine before the onset of winter. We'd been to the island before in the south and was keen to return to explore the north. This time of the year the island is much quieter and quite different to the high season. Temperatures are still warm enough to take advantage of the lovely pool on the lower terrace. Walking is also much more pleasant at this time of the year too. There is a lovely walk that starts by taking the lane up the hill past Stavlo and turning right. The tarmac soon turns into a stony farm track that meanders up the hill side to give spectacular views of the northern tip of Zante and the coast line of Cephalonia.

Aeolus' terraced gardens are still beautiful even at the end of the season with bougainvillea, plumbago, bird of paradise, oleander and jasmin still in bloom.

The Port is fairly quiet with just the odd tourist bus visiting so there's always a free table to be had at the Tavernas. We loved the hospitality at Katrinas, her chargrilled pork steaks are sublime as is the grilled sea bream at La Storia with tables right on the sea front which we particularly enjoyed in the evenings watching the lights twinkling across the harbour. Boat trips are still running to the unmissable Blue Caves, time it right as we did and you'll have the boat to yourselves and have the chance of a swim too - brilliant!

There's still a few mozzies around so come well prepared. We found a couple of the little machines that plug into the wall with a fresh tablet each night worked a treat, and refills are available at the mini-markets at the port.

Aeolus really has everything we needed for a quiet last minute getaway. We did a beer/wine/provisions shop at Lidls (turn left on the main road out of the airport) and then enjoyed a very relaxing holiday without having to venture too far. There's a daily bread delivery van that stops at the end of the lane each day, the fresh bread is delicious toasted and spread with local honey that can be bought from one of the many road side stalls on the way up to Korithi.

Many thanks to Sharon for sharing your lovely Greek home with us, we'll be in touch next year for a late spring break.
