A Wonderful Place In The Texas Hill Country

My wife and I found an ideal place to avoid Chicago's harsh January. "Paradise Found" is an accurate description of the Guest House at Sunset Cliffs Escape in the Texas Hill Country. Sherry, our host, was gracious, helpful and did all she possibly could to make our stay a memorable experience. The Guest Hose was spacious, beautifully furnished and well stocked with all neccessities needed for our month long stay. The grounds of the estate are beautiful, tranquil and supremely relaxing. Our neighbors included birds, deer and even a cow once in a while. Afternoons were often spent on the lovely front patio reading, napping or simply relaxing. Leisurely strolls to Lake Buchanan for the amazingly beautiful evening sunsets were something we will never forget. Dinners were often cooked and eaten outdoors on the beautiful back patio. If we never left Sunset Cliffs Escape during our month long stay we would have had a lovely vacation. However we also enjoyed our day trips to Austin, San Antonio, Fredricksburg, Llano (for BBQ), a winery tour, a cave tour and our many hiking excursions in various Texas State Parks. We would highly recommend Sunset Cliffs Escape to anyone seeking a quiet, unrushed and relaxing weekend, week, or like us, a month. Thank you Sherry for sharing Sunset Cliffs Escape with us. P.S. Don't forget to ask Sherry for a tour of the Equestrian Center.

Fabulous Lake House

This last June, we stayed at the main house over a long weekend. We were 5 families, total of 20 (adults+kids). Sunset Cliff exceeded our expectation in every aspect. It is a spectacular property with every conceivable amenity you can think of and set in this beautiful Hill Country location. Pool, Outside barbecue, the grounds, kayaking in the lake, simply awesome!! Sherry is such a gracious host and makes you so welcome and attentive and prompt to all requests. We hope to go back there again next year.. Sherry, thanks for sharing your paradise with us...

Beautiful Paradise!

We came to Sunset Cliff Escape for a girls' weekend, and couldn't have been happier! We have been doing annual trips for about 10 years, and sometimes have bedroom/bathroom situations with 10-12 of us. Not on this trip! We stayed in the main house, and literally kept getting lost! This is a jaw-dropping place. If you want to live in opulence for a few days and have peace and quiet, this is the place. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need, the bathrooms are all beautiful, and the pool and slide were so much fun. It's secluded intentionally, I suspect, so get your groceries while in town. After reading the reviews, I wish we had toured the equestrian center...next time! This house absolutely rocks as a girls weekend getaway, and I can see how this would be a perfect place for a wedding or family reunion, too. Thanks so much, Sherry!

Five Star Experience

My extended family of 25 rented the 3 houses of Sunset Cliff Escape for a 5 day family reunion in July and we could not have been more pleased. The houses are fabulous and the setup and layout are perfect for families who want to intermingle and reconnect. Which is not to say it is crowded. It is far from it. it is SPACIOUS. The pictures on the website and Facebook are a true depiction of what you will experience (if not much more).We had a full itinerary planned to visit the surrounding area and frankly altered our plans often because we found we really didn't want to leave the house. The owner was very accommodating and great to work with. We are already making plans to return next year. I highly recommend this place!!

Nice vacation

The guest house was clean and comfortable. Some minor conveniences such as paper towels, soap, and shampoo were not present as expected though linens and towels were of a high quality and very comfortable. Though the lake level is very low the lake is still accessible and swimming and kayaking was easy to accomplish. The main house was full and the volume of guests there made it a little uncomfortable to share the pool. Using the pool with that many other people who were smoking and drinking prevented us from feeling comfortable spending much time there. Some of the younger guests staying at the main house were rowdy and inconsiderate. That is a chance we took when we chose to rent from here knowing that there are other people on the grounds. Still, it is worthy of mentioning for planning purposes.
We did enjoy exploring the beautiful grounds and Sherry was very accommodating, providing a tour of the equestrian center. The property is very secluded and getting to and from town takes some time so bring plenty of food and supplies. Over all, we give it 4.5 stars.

Owner's Response: It was a pleasure having you as our guests! I am so disappointed that some of the younger guests took away from your total enjoyment of the pool! One of the reasons that I remain 'onsite' is to try to ensure that everyone has a great time and if a guest is behaving inappropriately, I would definitely like to be made aware of it and have the opportunity to address the situation. Per the rental agreement, smoking is absolutely NOT permitted by the pool! If I had been made aware of that issue, it would have been handled immediately. Again, sorry that someone was disregarding the rules and made your pool experience less than perfect! Perhaps I need a 'No Smoking' sign by the pool to remind people.
Regarding some minor conveniences missing - my apologies! I try to keep everything stocked - with dish soap, dishwasher detergent, toilet paper, laundry detergent, hand soap at every sink, trash bags, plastic wrap, foil, coffee filters etc. etc. (along with body wash/shampoo under each bathroom sink). From time to time, something might run out and get missed when I am restocking. Again, if you had mentioned that too me while you were here, I would definitely have taken care of that for you. I try my best to ensure each guest has a **fabulous** time and that either myself or my staff is always available.

Absolutely Wonderful - Better than Imagined!

This property truly is a paradise. Our two families (4 adults, 3 kids aged 9, 11 and 12) stayed 4 nights in the Guest House and had a truly relaxing and amazing vacation. Our families travel together regularly and we all agreed this was one of the best places we have stayed. Sherry is truly gracious. The house was beautiful and had everything we needed - well supplied kitchen, plenty of space, beautiful outdoor areas, laundry facilities, extra beach towels. The pool at the Main House is spectacular and the kids (and adults) loved the two story slide. The lake was low, but we were still able to jet ski and even launched our sail boat from the property's ramp. The kids took their bikes and loved riding around the property. They especially loved seeing Sherry's very friendly labs. Sunsets were amazing and fishing was fun. Sherry gave us a tour of the Equestrian Center and the horses were the most beautiful I've ever seen! Would visit again without hesitation. Truly enjoyed our stay and the peace and relaxation Sunset Cliff Escape provided. Thanks, Sherry!

We returned almost a year later to Sunset Cliff, this time to celebrate our daughter's 12th birthday. We brought along 2 of her friends and my mother in law from Illinois and what a great time we had! The property is as beautiful as ever and Sherry is a gracious host - she gave us a tour of the main house which is amazing; we hope to have an opportunity to return for a family reunion when we could use all three houses on the property. We would definitely reccommend this property to anyone looking to escape the city for a little R&R! Thanks again Sherry!

My family went to Sunset Cliff Escape for a family vacation during our boys spring break. We stayed in the Guesthouse and loved every minute of our vacation!
The guesthouse was charming and comfortable. There was plenty of room for our family of five and our dog (That was a major bonus being able to bring our dog with us!)! The kitchen had everything necessary and the boys enjoyed all of the outdoor eating/siting areas.
The property itself is gorgeous! We enjoyed fishing from the shore, walking around the property and the awesome pool located at the main house.Sherry is amazing! The highlight of the trip was the tour Sherry gave us of the Equestrian Center. The boys loved that!
This was probably one of our favorite family trips. We definitely hope to visit again in the future!

Wonderful Place to Stay with Family!!

We recently returned from a wonderful stay at the Sunset Cliff Guest House. The two-bedroom house is perfect for a weekend family getaway! The home was nicely appointed, comfortable and accommodated four adults, a toddler and our lab, with room to spare! We enjoyed exploring the property and seeing large groups of whitetail deer right outside the house! The owner, Sherry, is a delight, and she graciously included me on one of her morning walks with her two labs, around the lake! She also gave us a tour of the horse training facility, which was the highlight of our trip! We were traveling with family looking at ranch properties in the Lampassas/San Saba areas, and although you will be driving a little further to reach a few of the hill country towns, it is worth every extra mile to return to the beautiful Sunset Cliff property at the end of the day! I can't say enough about this property and the peace and quiet you will find when you arrive. We have already talked about returning in the Spring/Summer, when we can enjoy the Lake and pool as well!

The place really is as good as the pictures show. We booked it on kind of a whim to squeeze in some last minute vacation time before the kids return to school. We were very happy with the accommodations. The guest house was very clean and comfortable, and had everything you could want/need: washer & dryer, nice gas grill, beautiful kitchen, etc. The owner, Sherry, was very nice and made us feel welcome. The swimming pool and slide are just amazing! There is easy access to the lake so we brought our kayaks and launched right from the shore. We spent one day on Inks Lake and rented a boat from Coach's Boat Rental - also highly recommended.
I guess the best review you can give is to say that you'd recommend it to friends and that you would definitely go back. I'll certainly be doing both!
