I was most impressed with your many prompt replies to my questions. We appreciated that the building was very secure with digital entrance code etc. The apartment could house four adults properly. Furnishings were very suitable- my son was fascinated with the large interesting library. We also appreciated the access to free Internet & free phone calls internationally. What a bonus!

While in Europe none of the other rentals had left such detailed information as you had for us upon our arrival about your flat, transportation, local attractions, etc. Thank you for that! The location was very convenient- we were able to walk to many places in the Bastille area. We loved the many cafes. We appreciated the reasonable rental fee you ask. Would we stay there again? Yes! It met our needs & had a trusting l&lord who was very congenial & helpful. What more could you ask?

Staying at Jean Charles's apartment was a great choice. It has everything (& more) you would expect from an apartment including a full kitchen, dining area & office area. We really appreciated the computer & high speed Internet access as well as the free calls back to the United States. I would recommend this apartment to anyone

Dear Jean. We'll be more than glad to recommend your lovely flat which satisfy our expectations during our holiday in Paris. The flat is comfortable & in a very good location, but for us, the most significant advantage was - meeting a nice & hospitable proprietor

From the moment Jean Charles greeted us at his apartment, we felt as if we were right at home in Paris. The flat itself was very comfortable with all comforts & conveniences available (including a wonderful book collection), & the location was excellent. We highly recommend this apartment for Paris visitors

Jean Charles. Our friends & I enjoyed ourselves very much. It was a very cute apt. We loved the fact you had the Web & free international calling. It is pretty well located, walking distance to the museums, & only blocks from the cemetery Pere Lachaise which is beautiful. We had a great stay & I would recommend it because it is larger than most hotel rooms. Also the metro & taxi stands are close. We had a great time. Thank you

Hi Jean. I just wanted to thank you for the lovely stay in Paris. It has been a real pleasure renting from you. I have never tried to rent an apartment before in a foreign country so I was very scared about what would happen. If ever you need a recommendation, forward the request along & I will be happy to give one for you (with high praises of course) :)

Jean Charles Dicharry, artist and bilingual writer, is early on interested in performance creation in Amsterdam. This allowed for staged interactive experiments between photography, painting and poetry with the help of mimes and dancers. Later, based in New York, he involves himself internationally with fresco and mural projects. Subsequently the then nascent world of computing offers creative investigation to multimedia virtual art, combining animation, text and sound for installation projects.

Presently back in Paris, he now devotes himself mainly to writing.

The Owner purchased this condo in 1951

My parents bought this home a few years after the second world war. My father, a French naval officer, left France during the war for England to fight the Nazi regime. My English mother was at the admiralty … and so they met. One of the rare benefits of any conflict. They settled in France where I am born. With my sister we all lived in this Parisian nest during the 50's and 60's. I then lived in Holland and the United States When I decided to rent it I had no idea it would be so gratifying. This because travellers visiting give back life to a space that has meaning to me. I know Paris better perhaps than my soul and enjoy giving to visitors who wish so a sense of its history, mystery and spirit.

An authentic neighbourhood yet close to all activities where one can truly experience living as a Parisian. All the amenities (shops for daily necessities, specialty stores, supermarkets, post office, ATM, parks, cafes, restaurants) one can expect from an authentic neighbourhood that is still not affected by the merchandising of the nearby famous areas, yet very close to them. A very calm district and one of the most charged with history. Access to all parts of Paris are easy either walking (to the Bastille marina and river and the Marais in 15 mn), by subway direct to Champs Elysees, Trocadero and Montmartre (line 9 and 2 – duration of trip 15 to 20 mn depending of the target) or with the fantastic world renowned 69 bus, one block away, which crosses most major points of interest in the city (Pere Lachaise – Bastille marina and opera - Marais - The river Seine & its islands with Notre Dame & the Sainte Chapelle - Beaubourg Museum- Palais Royal - The Louvres museum - Orsay museum – Invalides and the Eifel Tower).

The apartment is in a quiet neighborhood on a little street in the 11th Arrondissement, not far from the Marais neighborhood. It is close to public transportation, a supermarket, a charming park and lots of boulangeries, patisseries and a wonderful little open air market on weekends. The apartment was equipped with everything you will need for your stay. It is in an old building so you have to like that but everything was very clean and comfortable. There is a computer and printer for your use and wi fi. The owner, came over the first day, explained how everything worked and then spent a lot of time orienting us to Paris. I had some questions after that and called him several times- he was always very responsive. I would definitely stay here again.

We always wanted to visit France but had no idea of how Paris is diversified. The owner’s very well organized apartment is just right for exploring first its authentic neighborhood as well as all areas directly with the help of a bus one block away and subways just a few minutes walk. As we like walking we also discovered much since the city isn’t that big despite the amazing amount of diverse places to visit. Then, once back in our cozy and calm rental we felt very contented with AC and enjoying our meals as if at home.

We had a wonderful time in Jean Charles' home. This romantic apartment is in a lovely neighborhood, a block off the main avenue where stands bus 69 and is at a 3 to 5 minute walk to the Metro Voltaire and Philippe Auguste. This landlord was very friendly and helpful. We usually go to hotels yet Jean Charles put us immediately at ease even before meeting him, e mailing and phoning, so to give us all the information we needed. Once there all was as precisely described.

The rental is as welcoming and as well organized than its owner. We loved feeling as if at home since it simplified our sense of “belonging” to the town as well. I also had buziness to care for and this calm space is perfect for this, especially if one is in a creative field and requires inspiration : PC – WI FI – Free phone to many countries – music – TV – books and an overall exotic mood. We recommend this place to all.

Jean Charles offered information and smooth financial transactions. He recommended some restaurants and sites he thought we might enjoy. We enjoyed internet access through his computer, Wi Fi and the use of a telephone plus a huge list of music and reference and art books – all of this in a superb setting. Although the space isn’t very big it allows for everybody to find his space (TV area, dining area, working area etc) – it is a true suite like in grand hotels. The listing was as advertised. I would recommend this property to anybody in search of a true home experience.

We always dreamt of visiting Paris and staying by Jean Charles place was ideal for a successful holiday. One has access to most part of Paris directly via bus (one block away) or nearby subways as well as simply walking up to the river, Oberkampf or the Marais. The rental itself is very handy with free calls to most places in the world, WI-FI and access to a vast array of music and books. We recommend this apartment.

A great welcome from Jean Charles, the owner of this authentic location with everything you need within a very short walk. The space is calm and charmingly decorated. There are all the appliances necessary for cooking, for leisure with music, TV and books as well as for working with a PC or WI FI. The nearby restaurants are very good and inexpensive.

A quaint neighborhood, a beautiful apartment and a welcoming landlord is our experience of our (too) short stay. We are glad to leave a good review for what was a great vacation in Paris. You will feel at home here with all the amenities as well as the ambiance – plus Jean Charles will give you a thorough description of the use of the space and suggestions if needed so to feel as if you knew the city already.

We coundn’t be more satisfied by the amenities of the suite, romantic design and welcome from Jean Charles. He has very well set up the space with lots of storage in closets, many hangers and boxes to easilly pack away our belongings. The shower is excellent and the central heating provides a very comfortable cozy mood. We recommend this place for those who like to experience living as if at home and enjoy being responsible for a space full of antiques as well as high tech material. This is made easy by Jean Charles who, very organised, will explain in details the use of all the amenities plus more regarding Paris and the neighborhood.
