The envy of the weekend!!

One of the main reasons we chose Colleen's Cottage was that they accepted dogs. The other reason is we have two children and both were in a wedding that weekend; we needed space this particular weekend! We knew a hotel wasn't going to work and could not have been more pleased with the house.
As you can see in the pictures, the exterior is lovely. The bright interior was even better and laid out perfectly. It is so functional. As you walk in the front door there is a small "landing area" with a bench and some coat hooks. To your left is a half bath and up 2 stairs is a well-planned kitchen w/ eating area. Walking straight toward the living area you'll pass a small (expandable) table. Great for cards or a board game, or if you had more than just 4 for a meal. They have a nice flat screen tv and an assortment of dvds to watch, board games or books to read.
Next is one of the best parts of the layout. Just before you get to the loveseat is a doorway on the right leading to the bedrooms. As you walk into the doorway you enter this open area, maybe 8 x 8. On your left is the full bath and then the largest of the bedrooms. On your right are the two other bedrooms; in front of you is a closet filled with extra linens and games. Of course, each room was perfectly appointed with plenty of space and each room had a tv.
What I loved so much was that because of the open space as you enter this "wing" we never felt on top of each other. It poured rain from Sat. morning to Sunday night, so when we weren't at the actual wedding or reception, we were sorta stuck in the house. Our relatives were so jealous that they had only their hotel rooms. We invited some of them over on Friday and Sunday evenings and it was great. We had conversations going on in the kitchen, the living room and children were in the bedrooms. Everyone was happy.
Another bonus of this layout is that if you had small kids who needed to be in bed earlier, there was plenty of space (and two doors) between the living area and the bedrooms. A child or infant could easily sleep and the other people in the home would not disturb them.
The owners of this home are extremely friendly and accommodating. We forgot our tie-out for our dog and Colleen offered one from her home.
The worst part of this home is that I'm going to be in competition with my own family for future stays.
I would go on more about this home, but I'm only allowed so many characters. :)
