Wow. Just wow. For a frequent business traveler to stumble into something this beautiful, serene and calming when the usual fare is a Holiday Inn (or worse) in the rural Midwest is pretty spectacular. I need to come back and visit more thoroughly with the husband. Thanks for your great hospitality!

(everyone else - go book this! You won't be sorry.)
Owner's Response: Thanks for staying! Hopefully we'll see you back here this summer. Kurt

Wonderful stay that exceeded expectations

My husband and I were looking for a scenic and peaceful place to celebrate our two year anniversary. Our goal was to enjoy some peace and quiet after a particularly busy period of time leading up to our anniversary. Our stay at the cottage exceeded our expectations.

Kurt was very communicative with us throughout the process and offered helpful suggestions regarding excursions to the surrounding areas. When we arrived, Kurt and Corey greeted us with freshly made cookies! The cottage is very cozy and very well stocked. The pictures online are great, but don't fully capture how nice everything really is! Everything was so well organized and we appreciated the little labels in various rooms with instructions on how to operate certain things. It was a nice touch.

We stayed in most days and cooked our own meals and the kitchen had everything we needed. They even provided coffee! The bed/pillows were very comfortable and we slept well. The gas fireplace in the living room was wonderful, as it was quite chilly during our stay. They even provided some toiletries in the bathroom.

The cottage itself had everything we needed to enjoy our stay, but the location was our favorite feature. There is a large open area in the woods behind the cottage with a view of a creek and waterfalls. The sound of the rushing water was very pleasant and made for some very relaxing evenings around a campfire. We also spent time enjoying the mountain view from the front porch.

There are a few good restaurants in the nearby town of Jeffersonville (158 Main is one), along with a local grocery store. If you plan to cook a lot, you will likely want to bring some stuff in advance and visit the Hannaford in Morrisville, as we did, for more variety. We also spent time just driving around through the mountains for the views and enjoyed going through Smugglers Notch. It's a fairly short drive from the Canadian border, so a day trip to a nearby town is definitely doable. It's a great place to get away and enjoy the stillness. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this cottage and hope to return ourselves one day.
Owner's Response: THANK YOU so much for staying with us, and taking time to share your experience! The rushing water is hidden beneath some beautiful ice formations with the cold weather we've had. Come back and see us again. Kurt and Corey

Vermont dream vacation

If you dream of a vacation in Vermont, this is an excellent choice. The cottage is great with many Vermont touches. It is almost like taking a vacation in 1950. We hiked, kayaked, swam in the river, and enjoyed a outside campfire. Sitting on the lawn having a glass of wine each night was wonderful. We are looking forward to returning.

Ideal and idyllic for two, away from the buzz of Stowe, the Notch...

Your singular hope when renting off VRBO and the like is that there isn't a "catch" that hasn't snuck through the reviews and photos. Thankfully, there isn't here.

For a quiet weekend off the track, this is ideal. Missing only a roaring fireplace (there's a gas stove for the purists), the place more than makes up for it with a supremely equipped kitchen and other amenities. To wit: when's the last time a rental kitchen had THREE SIZES of spatter covers... or your choice of vintage salt and pepper shakers?

Owners were very communicative but also respectful of the space. If we had stayed longer than the weekend I'd guess we'd have seen more of them. Kurt ran out into subzero temps to bid us hello/goodbye, which was super nice and telling about the care they show for even in-and-out guests.

Nothing even borderline to complain about; solid from start to finish.

Some perspective on the location:
- About 50 minutes from Stowe on winter roads.
- Winter visitors I'd recommend all-wheel drive. Not entirely necessary, but the roads leading in from 109 are unpaved and can be a bit slick and hilly.
- Nearby towns are small but usually have a good restaurant or three.
- Get grocery gear before you get there, as stores are a bit of a trek and close earlier than you're used to.
- They have a little basket with good maps and local suggestions. We liked Bernie's in Montgomery Ctr. and the Hazen Ski/Snowshoe area nearby. Also, the 151 Bakery (and Restaurant) in Jeffersonville. Both about 20 minutes away.

Cozy and comfortable cabin

My husband and I spent Thanksgiving weekend in this fully stocked, very clean and comfortable cabin. It was so welled stocked we had no trouble preparing a complete Thanksgiving meal. Kurt and Corey are very accomodating and thougthful. We so enjoyed the homemade bread and jam left for us upon our arrival. Excellent communication and they are nearby if you need them but your privacy is maintained. Close to hiking, skiing and close enough to drive to Montreal for a day.

I appreciated the cleanliness of the cabin. Hopefully we will be back.

The hospitality and coziness of the cottage provided for the best weekend I can remember. The location of the cottage is a perfect setting for those who want to get away for a little bit while still providing some great things to do nearby. We hiked the nearby long trail and enjoyed some of the picturesque environment around the cottage. The waterfalls in the back yard made the place feel as if it were out of a painting. We truly enjoyed the full kitchen and grill which allowed us to cook meals and enjoy them on the front porch in the backdrop of the nearby mountains. The fire pit in the backyard was perfect for warming up and enjoying the summer night. We cannot say enough for the hospitality of the owners and know that we will be frequenting this cottage again in the future! Simply, put there was nothing that could have made this stay any better!

What a wonderful cozy cottage in the woods!! Our first experience with VRBO and we could not have asked for a better one. We came away feeling totally pampered. The cottage is so tastefully decorated and the kitchen has everything you could possibly need. Kurt and Corey certainly can be very proud of their efforts. We certainly recommend this special little get-away.

We had a wonderful and relaxing stay at this beautiful cottage in Vermont. Complimentary cookies were gobbled up in minutes by my sons & husband. The cottage was tastefully decorated and very cozy. I wish I had known about this cottage before I booked camping spots for a week.
