Dit huis is het mooiste vakantiehuis wat we ooit hebben gehad, echt een droomvilla. Alles was heel ruim, super schoon en alles wat je maar te wensen had was aanwezig. Zelfs een buitenkeuken, DVD's en Playstation waren voorhanden. De bedden waren super goed en ook de badkamers waren heel ruim. Het huis was lekker koel, vanwege de gunstige ligging hebben we de airco bijna niet nodig gehad.
Het uitzicht was fantastisch en heel rustgevend, vooral 's avonds met alle lichtjes in de bergen en de heldere sterrenhemel.
De omgeving is fantastisch, heel veel mooie stranden in de nabije omgeving met kristalhelder water. Ook de grot van Ulassai was heel mooi en de moeite waard om te bezoeken. Er zijn veel pizzeria's in de omgeving waar je lekker kunt eten.
We kunnen Rita en Carlo niet genoeg bedanken voor hun hulp en gastvrijheid maar in het bijzonder hun hulp tijdens het doktersbezoek zullen we nooit vergeten.
Het enige minpuntje wat we kunnen bedenken is dat als je een bewolkte dag hebt, de zonneboiler niet genoeg opwarmt en je kans hebt dat de laatste met lauw of koud water moet douchen. Ook 's morgens is het water dan nog niet warm. Gelukkig komen bewolkte dagen niet zoveel voor in Sardinië.
Kortom een super huis en zeker aan te bevelen!

Perfect holiday in the most beautiful setting! The apartment (top floor) is very spacious and comfortable and equipped with everything you need and more. But all this is nothing compared to the stunning views! Absolutely fantastic! The house is built on a hill overlooking the valley and the surrounding hills/mountains. You can enjoy a 360° view on the large balcony which circles the living room as well as on the very large patio. If the beaches in the area weren’t so nice, you could stay here the whole day. The area is very calm and peaceful and apart from some birds singing and the occasional dog barking, you hear nothing at all. The silence was just overwhelming and impressive. In our modern, hectic lives we have forgotten what silence sounds like, here you can experience it every day!
Rita and Carlo, the parents of the owner, are very nice people who made us feel very welcome and took good care. They even had provided a small lunch on the day of our arrival, as well as fresh fruit, milk, wine and water, so we could relax and rest after our long journey and didn’t need to rush of to the stores. It was also very reassuring to know that somebody is around and can be reached in case of problems, which wasn’t necessary at all. In the flat we found plenty of information on the area, the beaches and places to visit including restaurants. Although we couldn’t visit the nearby pizzeria as it was already closed due to the low season which already starts end of September in Sardinia, we found some restaurants on the list that were open and we completely agreed with the recommendations on the list.
The only thing which was listed and we didn’t find in the apartment, was the DVD player. But with the beautiful starry nights we didn’t miss it all. SAT TV would be nice if you don’t understand Italian, but we don’t regard this as a minus.
Booking the apartment was easy and uncomplicated, all correspondence by email with very swift replies by the owner. Very accurate route description and no problem at all finding the property due to the fact that Rita and Carlo where waiting at an agreed meeting point. Great service!

We spent a week from 27th March to 3rd April in this beautiful villa
and can highly recommend this place to anyone looking for peaceful, individual holidays in amazing scenery.
Rita and Romano Lai who are the nice couple to look after you and who make sure that you do not lack anything could not have done better.Thank you again!!!
When we arrived there we were welcomed with local specialities such as pizza pies,red wine and a huge bowl of oranges and lemons.
We even got two really big beach towels each without asking them just in case we would be so crazy as to have a swim at this time of year.(We went swimming twice because the water was so tempting but still a bit too cold, to be quite honest.)
The villa itself offers everything you need for a comfortable stay. We were impressed by the big galleries and the possibility to enter them from every room of the house. In the morning we were woken up by the sound of sheep bells- really nice!!!
Sardinia is ,in fact, worth a visit. At the end of March we had fine spring weather, bushes were blooming and it smelled of herbs and flowers.We were astonished to find very bendy roads and high mountains and endless beaches.
We will definitely return next year !

We stayed in the upper floor of Gumtrees for 12 nights August 2009. Two families with children 13, 2x17 and 19. The first thing to say is that the owners Carlo and Rita were brilliant. From booking to leaving and everything in between you couldnt wish to meet more helpful people. On arrival we were met with local foods and wines and soft drinks for the children. As we looked around the property we couldnt believe the standard of everything within and the amount of space all the rooms had, which with the balcony, the location and the friendliness shown by the local people made for a great stay.
The location is not isolated but is rural and peaceful. Beaches are within easy driving distance as are a few other sites. Dont go if you want a bustling seaside resort. Definately go if you want the most pefrect of properties, peace and quiet through day and night with brilliant views of the mountains around the area in an idyllic setting. The villa doesnt have a pool but with crystal clear waters a 10 minute drive away it didnt matter.
We used a couple of local restaurants and can recommend the list given by Carlo and Rita. Everything is as detailed in their website (re distances etc) and the area has some stunning scenery.
We have recommended the area, but more importantly the villa to many people since our return and are looking to return there hopefully next year.
Generally we found prices to be cheaper than in previous holiday resorts and few of the bars / cafes / restaurants spoke English but were all pleaseant and with a phrase book and willingness to try the staff, without fail, looked to help and make sure you enjoyed your visit.

Immaculate, modern, spacious villa in a quiet and peaceful location on a hill with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. We had a wonderful holiday at Gumtrees. The villa was extremely well-equipped, with even beach umbrellas and snorkelling equipment in the garage that we were able to borrow. There was a spacious verandah for eating and relaxing outside whilst enjoying the views of the mountains and at night superb views of the stars. There were numerous beaches within an easy drive. All were easily accessible, you can park alongside the beach and so there's no need to walk far in the heat to claim your space beside the sea. My children swam in the sea every day, we couldn't keep them away from it. The water was so clear and so warm and there was no concept of high tide or low tide like we have in the UK.
For food, we found a large, well stocked supermarket near Tortoli` (about 20 mins drive). There are nearer shops but we found this one had the best choice of everything. In Cardedu (10 mins drive) there was a smaller supermarket, an excellent bakery for buying morning croissants and a pasta shop. Just at the end of the road from Gumtrees (so very convenient for take-aways) is a pizzeria which makes yummy Italian pizzas - we ate a lot of these!
The owners were extremely friendly and hospitable and made us feel very welcome - they had even left some food and wine for us when we arrived which was very much appreciated after our journey. In the kitchen there were all staple items provided - salt, pepper, olive oil, etc., cleaning products, dishwasher powder etc. - which was nice because you don't often find this at rental properties. There was also an abundance of towels, beach towels and spare linen for the beds which again was very nice because at some places you are just allocated one towel each.
I would definitely recommend this property to a friend, it's particularly good for those with small children looking for a relaxing, beach holiday in a quiet and peaceful location.
