A perfect holiday in a perfect place

My husband and I decided to splash out and book ourselves a lovely get away from it all holiday where we could properly relax and enjoy the French countryside. Having spotted the property on the website we stopped looking immediately knowing we had found our ideal holiday home.
The house was absolutely fantastic. Well maintained, and even bigger than the pictures suggested, it had absouletly everything you could need. Pool, barbecue, games, maps, bikes, recipes, DVDs and books to name but a few things! The kitchen was very well equipped (it even featured a dishwasher) and the Super U at Negrepelisse (20 minutes away) was ideal for getting all the shopping.
Anne was really helpful in the run up to the holiday and supplied useful suggestions as well as perfect directions from the airport. This was then supported by a welcome pack by Laurette, which was a nice surprise as it allowed us to have a well needed cuppa and our first of many taste of French bread.
The local area is absolutely fantastic and we would definitely reccommend visits to the local villages of Penne, Bruniquel, Puycelsi and St Antonin (the Sunday market was excellent). We also visited Cordes sur Ciel, Najac and Carcassonne - all very worthwhile. The biggest trip we took was to the Pyrenees for the day. My husband being a Tour de France fan was keen to visit Col d'Aspin and the Col du Tormalet. We also vistied the Cirque de Gavarnie - what a view.
We had intended to visit lots of places but the house, pool and surrounding location were just too nice to leave and with the weather hot and sunny most days getting in the car just didn't seem worthwhile. The pool and barbecue were certainly well used during our two week stay.
We saw some amazing sunsets during our visit. The view from the living room over the valley left us in awe as night after night we were privileged to see the sky turn an array of reds, oranges and yellows. We also some some great wildlife - deer, buzzards, eagles, lizards, frogs and the biggest bees I've ever seen.
In short La Poumayrette was everything we thought it would be and more. We would thoroughly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful get away from it all holiday in a charming part of the world. The biggest honour we can probably pay it is that we already hope to return there next year despite having never ever returned to the same place on holiday in our 20 years together!

Owner's Response: What a wonderful review! Thank you so much Alison!
September can be a wonderful month to visit L Poumayrette. The area is always tranquil but, there is a sense of really having it all to yourself. Many of our guests with an enthusiasm for wildlife and nature would also recommend May and June when the meadows and lanes are carpeted with wild flowers including some amazing orchids.
I note Alison's husband is a cycling enthusiast; we're finding more and more keen cyclists coming to the area for the wonderful range of challenges and the chance to enjoy the beauty of the landscape on the gentler sections!
A fortnight is definitely not long enough and you will be very welcome back!
