Really enjoyed the cabin and the time away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Living in Houston and finding a quiet place close to the city, yet secluded, is a challenge so I'm glad we found this place as it fit the bill. Didn't even know this little lake existed. We came well prepared, and found out that the cabin already had most of what we had brought! Truely turn-key. The views from the front and back were excellent especially at sunrise and sunset. Even though the water was low, there were fish and turtles right up at the dock. The gar were spawning and that was super cool to watch from the dock. I spent a lot of time fishing after visiting with the caretaker next door on the best places and methods. Had a cold front, but I still managed to catch 2 nice bass. My wife read/napped/watched the birds/fished. Owner was great and gave us plenty of details and freedom. Went on some long walks around the lake. At night, the place is truely quiet and dark. I bet there are 1000 DVD's there to choose from. We used the bbq grill and had a steak and watched the sunset, unplugged from the world.

Relaxing Weekend Getaway

My wife and I recently stayed here for a long weekend, after a bit of travelling to rest and recharge. The cottage is wonderful and you are forced to switch off from the stresses of daily interruptions. We found the cottage to be excellently stocked. The kitchen had more utensils than we have at home. There are numerous boxes of DVDs for entertainment on wet days (fortunately we had none). The views from the cottage are fantastic, both front and back. Watching the sunrise one side and set the other. Our dog loved the area too, plenty of space for him to walk and for us to enjoy the views while doing so. The dock and porch are great. It's perfect for sitting and listening to nature or simply reading with a large glass of wine nearby. I went out fishing with the caretaker (who lives nextdoor), who kindly taught me how to bass fish, catching a couple. I would definitely recommend this place to someone wanting to relax. We did the minute we walked through the door. It was so peaceful.

Great fishing and quiet!

My hubby, our boxer Greta and I just spent 4 wonderful days at this cottage. The cottage is exceptionally clean and is fully stocked. You really only need to bring food and clothing. We had great lake views from the front and the back, and a wonderful neighborhood to walk our dog and enjoy the quiet and the views. The care takers live next door, which is great! They were very helpful, bit not intrusive. We saw them twice. The first time they just checked to make sure we had everything we needed. The dock and porch are awesome. I love to read and I spent my day in the porch swing or on 1 of the 3 patio areas available. No worries of it rains, the patio over the lake is huge and completely covered. There was even a fish cleaning station. And the fishing.... Omg. My hubby is a bass fisherman and he was in heaven. He caught over 100 fish (this is for real!). They have a nice aluminum boat that can be used to fish out of which he did! He could hardly wait to get back out each day he had so much fun, his arms were tired! He used artificial lures and caught several right off of the dock. So if you like peace and quiet or love to fish this is a great little get away! At night we watched movies, and they have a great collection, however, you are minutes away from a RedBox if you prefer. The bed was super comfy and cozy and their were amazing views from upstairs as well. Connie was great and wonderful to do business with. We received our deposit back within days of is leaving. I would recommend this as a getaway to any couple or a couple with older children. They have extra beds downstairs also. Our fur baby loved being able to go with us and their are plenty of areas to walk your dog. We will go back!

My dog and I enjoyed a marvelously relaxing Halloween weekend at this wonderful cottage on the lake. The cottage itself is so cute, very neat, clean, comfortable and cozy. The owners are very nice and so helpful with arrangements,. We really enjoyed the huge covered deck with swing and just relaxing with a book or watching a movie. There is also a gazebo with hottub and the surrounding area is just so peaceful. We enjoyed long walks and, one morning, came upon a beautiful family of deer grazing and another time what appeared to be a mother fox with her young out in a field. Just listening to the birds and seeing mother nature all around was such a treat after living in the city. If you love nature and peace and quiet, this is the place to be. Thanks so much to the Watkins', for sharing your lovely cottage and for being so helpful! I can't wait to come back!

My husband and I recently visited Aubrey Cottage, and we were absolutely smitten. Our little 4-legged family member was also able to join us as this is a pet friendly property. The cottage is on a peninsula, so there is water all around. It is so nice to sit out on the dock in the back and read a book or watch all the birds that call Taylor Lake home. The beautiful sunsets were breathtaking. The owner has put great effort into making the cottage warm and welcoming. It was very clean and has all the linens, pots, pans, dishes, and appliances you'll need. She was so nice to work with and gave spot on directions to this cozy getaway. The caretakers are right next door and so helpful. We didn't want to come back home! When you go, be sure to read the red book upstairs. The history of the cottage and the area is very interesting.

This quaint house lended itself to a wonderfully relaxing vacation for my husband, me and of course the family dog. The view was beautiful and the house was spacious for the two of us and cool in the Texas summer heat. The neighbors were friendly enough even to offer a fishing trip on their boat. The house was well furnished with all the necessities of a vacation/lake house complete with a grill and fishing equipment for outdoor amusement and stove top, small oven and stereo and TVs with tons of movies to choose from for indoor entertainment. WIth Lake Livingston just a few miles away there was plenty to do on a larger body of water without having to live with the noise and company of all the lake goers. The renters were pleasant and very accommodating. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would return.
