Very good choice and reasonable price to visit LA

We spent 4 nights in the cottage, and were happy of our choice.
The cottage is nice, rather well equipped (open all doors: you will find useful stuff: baby-chairs, toys, even some supplies).
You are 1 block from a Whole Foods market, open till 10pm.
You can take a highway to LA in less than 10 minutes drive.
The landlord is very helpful and takes care of his guests.
The price is reasonable for the area.
The cottage has 2 bedrooms, and each bedroom has its own bathroom. You have additional beds in the living room. We were 6 people (my parents, my husband and our 2 children), and it was comfortable for everyone.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your 5 star review! We are so sorry you lost your son's teddy bear, that's heartbreaking :( We hope he finds another bear that can take his place. We wished you would have told us about the bear before you left, you could have taken home any of the bears or stuffed animals there.
We are having a terrible heat wave that will not cool down till Monday, some cities inland hit record highs today! Everyone is trying to escape the heat by going to the beach, malls or bars to watch the Olympics. I thought of you in Houston and how it must be like this all the time for you, I can see how you would like the cooler beach cities here, and glad you didn't have to experience this! It's 81 in the house and my poor renters in there now are having a hard time with the heat. We had to put a fan in the window, the AC is not cutting it when it's this hot, but at least it cools down at night. I'm worried about our lawn and plants too, we've never had plants dry out like this either, this has been a difficult summer for us. We did have our plumber come look at the water pressure and he is fixing it as soon as the current guests check-out so hopefully the plants survive this scorching heat.
We are very relieved and happy to hear that you had a comfortable stay. We love the summer but actually looking forward to the crisp fall weather.

Perfect Stay for Wedding

During my wedding some family members stayed in this lovely cottage. It turned out to be a perfect place for a relaxing week prior to my wedding in the Hermosa Beach area.
If you need a place to accomodate family members this place is perfect! We had a nice kitchen with all amenities to enjoy home cooked meals. The living room was a great space to complete work on 150 favors. Visitors enjoyed South Bay shopping and sight seeing, including the pier.
If you are planning a wedding in Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach or Palos Verdes this is a perfect location to house people. Since there were last minute tasks with my florist and caterer, it was great to be so close to take care of those last minute details.
And for any brides to be, one of the closets has a very high closet bar- a perfect place to safely hang and protect your wedding gown. My make up artist was able to use the pool table area to work on my bridesmaids and my hair and make-up; it had great natural light.
The bedrooms are comfortable and beautifully furnished; it was a much nicer than a sterile hotel environment.
We also manage to bake cupcakes for my wedding using the amazing old fashioned stove-baked everything perfectly. Eriko was very accomodating and even brought over some cupcake pans.
Thanks for the great stay!! Hope some other brides to be can enjoy a special week in this place or use this for out of town guest prior to their special day!

Inviting home - great for young families!

This cute little cottage is perfect for a family trip to enjoy LA's beautiful beaches and Disneyland. Just a few minutes away from Redondo Beach and the pier and a short 35-45 minute drive to Disney. Redondo is the perfect vacation town in LA. It isnt as crowded as some of the other areas and offers lots of great restaurants and amenities. We stayed in this house with our 3 children- all 4 and under- and had a truly stress-free vacation. The house has everything you would need for little ones and is very comfortable- no white furniture to worry about! The owners are extremely helpful- they were able to pop in and turn off the coffee maker when I realized I'd left it on the morning we left for our day at Disney. We will definitely be back next summer.

Traveling with kids can be really tiring and we do our best to provide a safe, clean, practical and easy to clean home. We are glad you noticed and appreciated these things, because it's little things that make life easier. We don't drink coffee so we didn't even know about the automatic shut off, we will replace the coffee machine with one that has the that feature, so that was good, now we know!! We would love to have you back in the summer, there are early evening summer concerts at the pier and on the sand in Hermosa Beach that get packed with families with kids because it's free and the kids jump around and have a blast while the adults sit and relax in the sun. The 4th of July fireworks are also at the pier, you can walk to where they shoot them off :)
We look forward to seeing you all again!

Your home away from home

The house is as billed. It is a wonderfully warm facility in a terrific location. Easy to the beaches, the best coffee shop in the world, three piers up to Santa Monica, plenty of restaurants and things to do. South Bay is wonderful with at least four business areas. Shopping, eating outdoors, hanging out...from the Comedy Club in Manhattan Beach where Jay Leno performs every Sunday afternoon to the pelicans and seals at Redondo Pier to beach volleyball or bikeriding. I was there 2.5 months so had plenty of time to discover. The couple who owns the house are extremely sweet and accommodating and ready to help in any way they can. The house is truly fully equipped even including the wood burning fireplace and pool table. Fantasic experience. Highly recommend it.

Great place to stay!

The Beach Cottage was perfect for our recent stay to California. We have an almost four year old and a one year old and the house was perfect for children! There is a fenced in outdoor area, a massive Disney movie collection as well as toys for your little ones.
My husband loved the flat screen with lots of speciality channels as well as a DVR. The owners also provided us with a laptop to use to connect to their wireless network! He also loved the juicer-the owners brought us by a bag of the most delicious oranges I'd ever tasted our first night and we had fresh squeezed oj every morning! I loved the fact that the location was perfect. The cottage is on a cute, safe street super close to amenities. You can easily walk to the Redondo Pier, playground at Veteran's park and lots of shopping and restaurants are right around the corner. It is super close to LAX and was an easy drive to Palos Verdes (we were visiting family there) as well as Disneyland and other attractions.
I can't say enough about the owners. They are professional, welcoming and just really interesting people. I wish I could've had them for neighbors forever.

Great Family Rental

Cal beach cottage was the perfect place for our family of 5, including a 15 month old and 10 YO twins. We traveled to CA from Virginia Beach for a wedding. Everything was as promised and with only one minor glitch, there was over-compensation by the owners(DW not working quite right, so they provided plenty of paper goods-they really didn't have to do that- for us so no need to even use the DW). The house had much more room than any place our other family members rented, there were toys for the kids to play with, and the little front yard was just right for our little one to play anytime of day. We didn't really use the bikes as much with the kids and just walked where we needed to go, but they did have them there. The owners were very friendly and checked in to see if we needed anything. They provided chairs, umbrella, stroller, and cooler for beach which was very nice since we flew and couldn't bring all that with us. The grill and fire pit were really nice, especially in the evening for making smores with the kids. For the price and location, we couldn't have landed a better find! We would recommend CAL beach cottage to anyone, but especially families.

We have small children and have yet to find a vacation rental that provides all the baby gadgets that you just can't take along when you fly, especially with the baggage restrictions these days! So we provide what we think families would need to be able to travel stress free. Most family vacations end up being exhausting, and we don't want guests to feel like they need a vacation from their vacation. All of our neighbors tell us how nice all our guests are too, we all love the neighborhood and are happy that we get to spread and share the joy :) It was really a pleasure meeting you all and your children are so well behaved, like I told you, you must be very proud of them. We hope to see you again some day!

Good for the price

The best thing about this home is the location. It is one block off the main street in town and a short distance to the beach. The pull out sofa is not comfortable, but the other beds were fine. I suggest eating breakfast at "Eat at Joes". It is a very short walk from the home. There was a bit of a cat odor in the home and I suggest this condo for pet lovers who want to bring animals with them on vacation.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your 4 star review. Our cottage is a historic home built in 1908, and during the winter if it's rainy windy and damp, sometimes there is a very slight "old house" smell which comes from the air blown into the house from the attic, but it has to be very windy for this to happen, sometimes the weather is windy during winter. Please know we do not allow pets so the odor was not from an animal or animals.
For those viewing this review, the house is very clean, we pay our housecleaner 100% of the fees we charge our guests which is higher than most other rentals of this size. Very Nice, Reasonable Price

The cottage is clean, comfortable, quiet and thoughtfully-provisioned. The owners Frank and Eriko are very nice people. It is a bit of a walk to the beach, and there are a few rough edges, but this is very affordable in comparison to properties closer to the beach. We enjoyed eating at the Hudson House just around the corner and Zane's over in Hermosa Beach.
