This house was the perfect spot for our family vacation in D.C. It was close to lots of busy restaurants and nightlife yet it seemed so quiet as you turned the corner into the neighborhood. The metro was an easy 5-10 minute walk and the Circulator bus was right at the end of the street. We traveled with our 3 kids (11, 8, 6) and, although we were out exploring all day, we felt like we had plenty of room in the apartment. Both the zoo and Rock Creek Park were a 5-10 minute walk away and also made for great running routes. The house was well-stocked with plenty of linens, kitchen/bath supplies and tourist information. There is a washing machine with a large drying rack that allowed us to pack light and plenty of room in the 2 closets to hang clothes. As mentioned in prior reviews, there is one bedroom that is also the access to the bath and kitchen. Katy (the owner) made us aware of this prior to our stay and it worked completely fine for us. We had great communication with Katy prior to our stay. She even kindly left cupcakes in the apartment upon our arrival since it was our daughter's birthday. Overall we had a great experience and would love to stay here again.

The owners are incredibly efficient, direct and helpful. The apartment was actually larger than I expected, as well as being bright and airy. The location was an easy 5-6 block walk to the metro and a block away from the center of the Adams Morgan neighborhood. Excellent falafel, gelato, craft beer and pulled pork all within a block or two. My family of 4 (2 kids, 12 and 15) had a marvelous DC vacation here.

We stumbled onto this lovely apartment when trying to find a place to stay with our two boys, ages 2.5 and almost 1. What a find! Close to parks, good but not too expensive eats, good take out, the Metro, Starbucks, and the Zoo. When we arrived, Katy and her family had set up a crib for our baby and toys for both. The apartment was clean and tidy and the beds, comfortable. The kitchen was stocked not only with dishes and flatware, but also with basics like salt, pepper, coffee and filters, sugar, and a few other items as well. How nice to be able to stay up after the boys had gone to bed as we weren't all confined to the same room.

Adams Morgan is a great area to explore - lots going on. As a runner, I found plenty of places to go as Rock Creek Park is very close and even main streets aren't too crowded once you get north of the zoo.

Katy was very helpful on all fronts.

The apartment is up several flights of stairs, so if you have trouble getting around, perhaps this would be a drawback.

Overall, I can't recommend this place more highly - especially if you're traveling with children.

Plenty of room for 2 adults and 3 middle-size children (ages 9-14). Kitchen well-equipped for preparing breakfast or a pasta meal. Lots of plates, cups and cutlery (did not let kids use glassware as it seemed maybe fragile, but managed with mugs for juice). Enough space for all 5 of us to sit at the table. Enjoyed the easy walk to the metro, restaurants and grocery store, and it's good for the kids to walk in new neighbourhoods. Parking can be a challenge - more spots available in the morning than the evening. Katy got us a parking permit; the first spot was a bit farther, but we were able to move the van closer and leave in the same spot for 2 days. There is a bright streetlight out front; we used the screen to block the light for the kids sleeping in the living room. Wifi worked better at the back of the house than the front. A quiet, civilized place from which to explore a great city. The location is away from the hustle and bustle, but an easy metro, bus, or bike ride to the action (yes, DC has bikes to rent!). The neighborhood is friendly with Starbucks, yoga, ethnic restaurants and Rock Creek Park running trails close by. The apartment was sunny, welcoming, and toasty warm on a crisp fall day with a nicely appointed kitchen if you are inclined to cook. The owners are knowledgeable guides to the city. An early morning walk through the nearby National Zoo (free!) was especially pleasant way to start the day - with few tourists, and several lionesses basking in the sun.

The location was fabulous. Great neighborhood for kids. Safe to be out and about after the sun went down, at least before kid bedtime. The bus was close, the metro an easy walk and cabs were to be had without a problem. The playground is an easy stroll and small groceries are near by.

And then there was the apartment itself.
The bathroom was a disaster, with tile coming off from around the sink, large cracks in the plaster, paint flaking, and a toilet that no matter how we jiggled and flushed, ran off and on all night long. Hot water was plentiful.

The kitchen was in better shape, but if you intend to cook for and feed a family, bring your own pots, pans and cups. There was a great coffee press, and three mismatched cups. There was a fine little oven, but few pans to use. The refrigerator was large, and missing both vegetable bins. Wine glasses yes, regular glasses...no.

The bedroom, was not. It was a common room off of the bath and kitchen, with a screen provided to block off the living room. For us, with little kids, this wasn't a big deal. But if you need privacy, this isn't the place for you. The only chest was full of linens, curtain accessories and stuff. We emptied it so that we could put away our suitcases, as there was no place to have them out.

There is one room with a door, that holds a twin bed and had room enough to place a twin pad, such that we could put the three kids to bed and have some adult time in the living area.

Our landlord kindly brought up toys for the kids, and that was a wonderful gesture and godsend. The kids had a ball. And I might add, they loved camping out together in their room and for them, a breakfast of rice crispies and yogurt is good anywhere.

It was a great price and a good neighborhood. Having renovated houses, I know what it takes to fix things up. It wouldn't take much to make this a really nice experience. It's too bad it is what it is.

Lovely apartment in Adams Morgan. The owners live downstairs and are terrific. They went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant. Great location, although two of our party (one adult, one child) felt that the walk to the Metro was longer than they would have liked. (There is a bus that is closer.) The other adult and child enjoyed the walk, which was safe and pleasant at all hours, including at night. On weekend nights, noise from people in the neighborhood was occasionally audible in the front bedroom, but overall, the apartment was quiet. I enthusiastically recommend it.

This was really a fantastic place to stay. The location was perfect for us and the apartment incredibly family friendly. In addition to being clean, comfortable and well stocked, there were toys, crayons, beds, a carrier and even a child lock on one of the kitchen cabinets for my two kids (ages 4 yrs and 20 months). In addition to all the kid amenities, the cost compared to just a single hotel room in the area was significantly less per night.

The owners were very accommodating and responsive. Often I would receive a reply to an email within minutes of sending.

The set up is nice. There is a small bedroom that we put the kids in. It is far enough away from the kitchen (which had a door) that I could put my little one down for bed or a nap and have my older one coloring quietly until he fell asleep.

The kitchen has more than sufficient supplies for cooking meals and I think I remember the bathroom even having a few toiletry essentials. There is an info packet in the apartment with great restaurant and entertainment options. I had a friend (and multi-year Adams Morgan resident) looking through it and finding new places she didn't know about.

We were very happy with the entire experience from first inquiry to check out. I cannot stress enough how accommodating the owners are and how easy they helped make our visit. Traveling with kids can be tough and we do it a fair amount, but other than traveling to my parents house, this has been the easiest time having our kids in an unfamiliar place.
