Enjoyed the Canoe, the Bikes, and the Serenity

We enjoyed this rental very much. We have enjoyed lake living in Canada and at Serene Lakes for the past 30 years and we found this location to be excellent. The Cabin is very well equipped and is exactly as described.

Serene Lakes is a short distance from Donner Lake, Truckee hiking, cycling, etc. There is a multitude of activities in every direction.

Serene Lakes is actually two lakes, Serena and Dulzura. In the summer the water is warm enough for swimming. Each day I did enjoy a swim across Lake Dulzura which was always refreshing. This cabin is on Lake Serena which is the water supply lake; perfect for canoeing It was a pleasure to take the canoe or the bikes over the the beach on Lake Dulzura and enjoy our swims there.

The homeowner was very good at communication and everything went very smooth.

The family had a wonderful time at the cabin, even without much snow. We successfully got all the grandkids on skis for the first time and they had a ball. New Year's Eve was spectacular with all the fireworks around the lake. Would highly recommend to friends.

Great Lakeside Cabin

Great, clean lakefront cabin! Mike was a pleasure to work with by phone and email, and very prompt in answering all of our questions. We traveled with two teenagers, and the cabin had more than enough space for everyone (each teen had their own bedroom and bathroom!). The place can easily sleep 10. The large kitchen was the most equipped of any cabin or condo we have ever rented. Huge washer and dryer on site. There was a DVD player for movies, but no cable TV, giving the family the needed space to chat, play games, and watch some old movies. The two-car garage was very roomy for our large minivan and bikes. There were three bikes and a smaller girl's bike on site for guest use. Nice canoes were also available, though the lake was unseasonably mostly frozen over in mid-June (!) so we could not take them out. Plowed paved streets go all around the connected lakes, for nice daily walks or bide rides. The Ice Lodge, on the opposite end of the lakes from the cabin, is a nice seasonal spot for drinks or dinner. Very close to Soda Springs and Sugar Bowl Ski Resorts, and Royal Gorge Cross Country trails. We took several short day trips down to Donner and Tahoe Lakes as well, making the cabin a nice launching point for area sightseeing. This is a perfect year-around cabin for a family reunion, a multi-family vacation, or a quiet single family vacation.

Beautiful and Cozy Cabin

My family stayed here for our holiday gathering and we had a great time! So much so that we definitely want to stay here again some time for the next family gathering!

The cabin is ideally situated where you actually avoid having to go through all the common road traffic areas because it is so close to the bay area. And the setting is just so beautiful right by the lake and in a neighborhood area. The cabin itself is a lot more spacious than we expected and easily accommodated my family and their spouses and the kids. The kids just loved the place! The two living room areas were convenient because one was for the kids and the other was for the adults.

The owner is super nice too and was so easy transacting with them. We are definitely keeping this cabin as a reference for future weekend get-aways!

Lakeside Tranquility

Our family rented the cabin in July and enjoyed perfect 70-degree weather. The main reasons for choosing this cabin were the lakefront location and the use of the cabin's 2 canoes, 2 kayaks (1 adult, 1 child), and 4 bicycles (3 adult and 1 young girl's). My husband and I and our 2 teenage boys enjoyed the outdoor activities together. When indoors, the gorgeous view of the lake from the living & dining rooms, kitchen, and lower bedrooms was so soothing. One morning, my husband witnessed a Bald Eagle catching a fish in the lake. Having no cable/dish TV was actually a plus as we spent time together playing foosball & air hocky in the loft, playing board games, and watching a couple of movies on the TV via VCR/DVD in the evening. We thoroughly enjoyed our mini-vacation at the cabin, and Mike, the owner, was a pleasure to work with. We highly recommend this cabin.

Year Round Perfection

Whether it is watching the snow flakes drift down through the large picture windows or seeing the bats dive and fly while drifting in a canoe on Serene Lake, this cabin has it all for both summer and winter. Our favorite place to ski is Sugar Bowl and one of our favorite canoe sites is an evening on Serene and Dulzura Lakes. The home is warm, spacious and very well equipped (from kitchen supplies to sports equipment). The large kitchen/dining/living area make for a very cozy family environment. And with two master suites, loft and a third bedroom and bathroom, you can spread out, while still maintaining a sense of "togetherness". The only two things to be aware of: no cable or satellite service and no garbage/reclycling service (you have to pack it out when you leave). Other than that, this home will not let you down. We will continue going back whenever we can!
