Photos and Description of the Higgins Lake vacation house rental
House, 5 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, 2 - 1/2 baths - Sleeps 12

Higgins Lake is the sixth most beautiful lake in the world. This spring-fed lake, with its sandy shores and lake bottom, boasts pristine clear waters, and crystal green depths. Our dock extends 80 feet from the shore. The water is knee deep with white sand bottom for 300 feet, then gradually drops off to deeper water. We have 200 feet of beautiful sandy beach front.

The Big House can sleep up to 12. It has a beautiful knotty pine interior, great room, and 2 glassed in porches. The house was built by a local well known Swedish craftsmen. There are many examples of fine carpentry throughout the house. The lake fills the view through the large picture windows which run the length of the house. The deck offers a spectacular view, especially on clear nights when the water sparkles in the myriad colors of the sunset.

Winter stays are available at reduced rates for a minimum of two nights, a great idea for winter sports enthusiasts.

Enjoyed our stay

First of all, we completely enjoyed our stay at your home. It was just right. The warmth and spaciousness --both indoor and out--were so enjoyable for us and for our guests. The lake and weather cooperated nicely, also. The hospitality Kip, John and Michael (and singing Karl) was such a treat. The girls will always remember their initiation by diving off the pontoon. Thanks again for working with us on the price. It was a very special visit for us...we got to visit with friends we hadn't seen since our marriage on Mackinac 17 years ago. Thanks so much. We look forward to booking with you again.

Many of our guests enjoy and appreciate their stay at our house. The majority of guests are repeat tenants and comment regularly about how much their families enjoy their stay. We commonly are told how important our house has been in developing their family traditions and memories. One family has returned each year for over a decade.

Caribbean of the Midwest is an exaggeration.

The house was definitely a Big House! There was plenty of room for the family to roam. The pictures of the residence are pretty accurate. The stone fireplace was awesome! The rear deck was concrete and a nice place to BBQ and watch the happenings on the lake.
Saying the house was air conditioned was misleading; it really consisted of window units in each of the bedrooms. The other rooms had box fans for air circulation. The 2-1/2 bathrooms were very small and confining, each bath only had a standup shower.
The house smelled musty at the onset. We had to open as many windows as possible to try and clear this up. It was especially strong coming from the kitchen area. The door to the basement from the kitchen had a square opening that allowed this musty smell to come into the house. I would not recommend this house for anyone that has allergies or breathing issues.
Owner's Response: We have had no other similar comments for the past 10 years, however we have thanked the tenant for her observations, and are addressing her concerns.
