Supertolles Loft-Apartment mitten im charmanten East-Village. Die Betreuung durch den Vermieter ist absolut zuverlässig, aufmerksam und zugewandt, von der Buchung bis zum Checkout. Die Ausstattung der Wohnung ist hervorragend. Wir waren zu dritt da (Elternpaar und 16-jähriger Sohn) und hatten mehr als genug Platz.
Alle Sehenswürdigkeiten und Hotspots in Manhatten und Brooklyn sind unkompliziert via U-Bahn zu erreichen. In der Unmittelbaren Nachbarschaft gibt es eine vielzahl von Restaurants, Clubs, Galerien aller Couleur. Das Viertel ist sehr lebendig und dennoch ruhiger und familiärer als die Hochhauszentren von Upper und Lower Manhatten. Besonders toll: Die vielen Nachbarschaftsgärten im Viertel die öffentlich zugänglich sind. Echte Ruheoasen.

Loved this apartment!

We absolutly loved this place. It is a great for 4 people. The bed and the sleeper sofa were very comfortable. Wasn't sure with me and 3 young adults (ages 16-21) if we would feel cramped, but it was very roomy and clean. Thom was great to work with and easy check in and out. Great Bagel place 2 blocks away and pretty easy walk to the subway and could catch a cab at the end of the block. I was also worried about having all the windows and it being cold but it was very comfortable and even turned off the heat at times. We really did not want to leave! Thanks Thom

Very glad that you mentioned the concern about the windows--yes there is a whole wall of them, but they are insulated with high-tech film as well as a triple-layered window treatment including a heavy felt bump fabric, it's amazing to shut out the light, sound and heat/cold. We adore Tompkins Square Bagels--they do a superb job and are so close by, along with so many other innovative and inexpensive eats. Come back soon, we are ready when you are!

Good apartment in a good neighborhood

Comfortable, large, well equipped, great WI-fi, I guess you can tell we liked our stay. The apartment is clean and well kept and Thom is a great host. You will hear people walking by at night but the street is very very quiet.
The neighborhood is great as well. We liked Ost Cafe, Northern Spy Company (a restaurant) and all the shops on St Marks Place.
We'll book this apartment again when we're back in New York.

Well above expectations

Given the high prices of hotels in Manhattan, we decided to book an apartment figuring that for about the same money we could get a lot more space for the week we were spending in town. It is actually substantially more affordable.
I had several good experiences with the major direct rental websites while traveling throughout Europe last year and my experience here was no exception.
The apartment exceeded our expectations. It was perfectly located for our tastes and beautifully presented. It was the little touches like the provision of personal amenities in the bathroom, magazines and books to read and a substantial digital music collection that made this a great place to stay. Thom also provided a bottle of wine and some nuts for our arrival. Nice.
Thom was unobtrusive but communicated via email to make sure that we were comfortable and all of my interactions with him during the booking process and throughout the stay were good.
Even though we are giving the rental 5 stars, the only fault I would mention is that the water pressure is such that the advertised jacuzzi in the bathroom is likely to take well over an hour to fill and even then the maximum temperature (warm) is unlikely to make the experience that enjoyable.
However, the jacuzzi wasn't the reason for selecting the rental and I would not hesitate to recommend Thom and this apartment to anyone.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your great review! This is so welcome as potential guests rely on the actual experiences of other guests. Too bad that you didn't actually try the whirlpool bath--as with every major feature of all of our apartments, I have tested everything personally, down to sleeping in every bed and sofabed and filling the whirlpool tub with warm water from the tap. Unlike many other HomeAway and VRBO operators, we actually own the entire building and have direct control to solve problems such as low water pressure (though the shower is on a flow restrictor required by NYC law) or insufficiently hot water.

Huge well-equipped loft and the bathroom is a chapter in itself....the pictures don't do it justice! Really enjoyed our stay and exploring the East Village! As everyone else says, Thom really IS a delight to deal with, so pleasant and responsive to emails (at almost every hour!). Thanks for coming to greet us/see us off the last day and good tip on taking the bus to 8th/42 for the subway to JFK....
A tip for breakfast (but get there early) and try the eggs benedict and pancakes and their Cafe Latte (creamy and delicious): Clinton St. Baking Company. For some jogging AFTER the breakfast, great running tracks by the East River very close to the apartment. Truly a much better and cheaper alternative to hotels and you feel like a New Yorker ;-) We'll be back!!

Outstanding NYC vacation

This beautiful apartment was a great home base during my family's week-long stay. It was very clean, looked exactly like the photos and had everything we needed. Thom was extremely helpful even before the trip started, responding to e-mails right away and providing the type of great service you would receive from a high end hotel concierge.
The NY CityPass was an excellent way to explore all the touristy highlights in the city and helped us bypass most long lines. Although we could have taken a nearby bus, we preferred to take the 10 minute walk to the subway station to start the day's events (a week long unlimited Metro card was $29pp and was really the only transportation we needed while there).
Although we didn't spend much of our time in the East Village, we had some wonderful meals at Tompkins Square Bagels, Northern Spy, Pizza Gruppo, Alphabet Scoop, and B&H Dairy. We also used the convenient wash and fold laundry service at SpinCity on the corner - if we had known how easy it was, we could have brought half the clothes.
The apartment is on the first floor, which is very convenient for getting in and out, but there is a bit of street noise, with occasional cars and people walking by. The noise never kept us awake, never woke us up, and never had any impact on our trip, but I thought it was important enough to include as part of full and honest disclosure.
We would definitely stay at this location again. Thanks again to Thom for providing such a great VRBO experience!

We have traveled all over the world staying at 4- and 5-star hotels as well as self-service apartments and villas and have brought back what we think is the best of bohemian style and urbane hospitality to the East Village, our home of 40+ years. Our street is probably one of the quietest in the East Village as it is a dead end with neither retail nor noisy bars on it; the only traffic on foot or wheels is local. The floor-to-ceiling insulating window treatment includes a blackout layer as well as felt bump, minimizing whatever noise there is in an urban neighborhood.
