This charming farmhouse is a place to get away from the hustle of the city. It sits on a 100+ acre ranch with barns, fenced fields and plenty of paths for walks or jogs. The front porch is an ideal place to have morning coffee or an evening cocktail as you look out over the 30 acre hayfield waving in the Southeast breeze. Two doors from the porch lead into the bedrooms. The master bedroom has a King-sized bed with a rustic carved door as a headboard and the other has 2 double beds with bright quilts. A painted desk with bookcase serves as a focal point in the room. The door from this room leads into the dining room and then onto the bright recently remodeled kitchen. All these rooms have tall beaded ceilings and wooden walls original to the 1920's. The master bedroom leads onto a hallway to the bathroom and then to the sunlit living room with a wrap-around sofa facing a wall of bookcases surrounding a window. The farmhouse is filled with eclectic art, antiques and books.
A door from the living room leads to to large yard with rose-beds, fruit trees-pear, fig, pomegranate, and mulberry and pecans trees. A swing set that has given hours of fun for our 4 children is sited where parents can keep an eye on it from the kitchen and living-room. A short distance from the living room door an old smokehouse serves as a laundry and workshop and houses the water filtration system. The original family smoked their sausage and meats in the back room. The outbuildings consist of a large round-bale hay barn, a four bay barn, a corn-crib and a long cattle barn with corrals where our children played. A walk around the secluded property takes you to pastures, hay-meadows, oak filled woods, ponds and a seasonal stream with no other houses in sight. At night there are no visible lights from the house-great stargazing. If you want a family getaway this farmhouse should be your choice. However, it also offers easy access to sophisticated and fun places and activities.
