We had a wonderful week long stay at this condo. The condo itself was very clean and inviting. There's not too much light that gets through the windows because it is halfway below ground, but that just made sleeping in that much easier.

The Angelhaus building is on the old side, but the inside of the condo was newly renovated and is really nice. The owners are really thoughtful in how they've set up the condo: fully stocked kitchen, movies, games, and books for the kids. My four year old son's favorite part about the vacation were the three TVs—one in each room.

We had an issue with the resort access cards on the first day of our stay. We called Ann (the property manager) and she returned our call promptly, helping us work through the problem—even though it was a holiday.

There weren't too many activities at the resort this time of year, but we had a ton of fun doing all sorts of things in and around Durango. The condo provided the perfect home base for our young family.

After a very long drive from Denver we arrived spent. The condo was beautiful. The directions were easy to follow. Ann was great to work with.

Our kids (ages 7, 6, & 4) enjoyed all the activities the resort had to offer. Having access to the pool was key. The kids played in the water and mom sipped a mommy drink. Everyone had fun.

What a great condo. The owners have really thought of everything. This has to be the nicest furnished and decorated condo in the Angelhaus building. It is every bit as nice as the photos. It was clean and well stocked with paper towels, kitchen utensils, toiletries, etc. From the minute we walked in, we felt right at home. There is a large and nicely organized collection of pamphlets, flyers, and magazines detailing just about everything there is to do in the San Juan Mountain area.

The Durango Mountain Resort (also called Purgatory) is located about halfway between Durango and Silverton (about 30 minutes to each along Highway 550). We had very reasonable (and beautiful) drives to Mesa Verde, Durango, Silverton, and Ouray. The scenery is just other-worldly and Highway 550 has to be the best maintained road in the country. The resort itself has a whole day's worth of activities with the alpine slide, pool, restaurants, hiking, mountain biking, zipline, etc. We enjoyed our first day there just hanging around the DMR while adjusting to the altitude. The summer weather is amazing - zero humidity event hough it rained every afternoon. We hiked two thirds of the way up the ski slope one day without sweating (a hike like that in July at 3pm in Dallas would give you a heat stroke...)

The only issue we had was that nearly everything in the area is closed by 9pm if not earlier. We had to make an adjustment (drag our 16 year-old out of bed earlier...) to our normal suburban Dallas schedule. Many of the shops on the resort close at around 6pm or earlier, so do your shopping before you leave for the day. Also, some of the restaurants (Creekside, Last Run, Hoody's) in DMR are not open during the summer, so you'll want to plan ahead to include a drive in some of your dinner plans. We stopped at the City Market grocery store in Durango and used the condo's great little kitchen to make a few meals.

Overall, we would definitely recommend a stay in this condo. We didn't want to leave!

We had an excellent time at this condo. It was just as nice in person as it shows in photos. Our 2 kids LOVED the bunk beds, and since our young kids aren't used to sleeping in bunk beds, we (the parents) loved that they were full-sized bunks rather than twin (this gave them more room to roll around).

The condo is well-stocked, nicely maintained, and all around a good value. The owners have been a joy to work with and were helpful every step of the way. Without a doubt, we would recommend this comfy and cozy condo (any time of year)!

This was a great place for us. We had 5 people and we had plenty of room in this condo. Each Kid got their own bed so no fighting. The renovations were done very well. The decorations and furniture were very nice and comfortable especially the beds. The photos made the condo look bigger than it actually is, but it was plenty big for us. I don't think a group of eight would be comfortable though. The owners were very helpful and easy to work with. I will and have recomended this property to friends and would tell everyone you won't be disappointed with the facilities. They were great. You are very close to Silverton(about 17 miles) so i would recomend renting a jeep and going on the trails just north of there. The views were breathtaking and what an adrenaline rush. Also, Mesa Verde is close enough for an adventure filled step back in time.

We got a great deal on our stay, but I'm not sure we would stay at that unit again. I had asked if pets were welcome and was told no pets allowed. We had someone house sit as well as dog sit our pup. When we arrived both my sons 21 and 23 years old starting sneezing and were congested but only in the second bedroom. Both kids and myself are very allergic to cats. There had to have been and cat in the condo or a dog that both had a reaction to. The other odd thing was the hot water worked in the sink in the master bath but not in the shower. For two days the water was lukewarm in the shower. I went and showered in the second bathroom on Sunday. The kids had told me their shower had hot water. Location and layout were good, property clean etc.
