Seriously...best vacation EVER!
The Blue Orchid is a slice of heaven. The pictures/website are beautiful but do not do this place justice. If you are looking for an escape or a getaway that will leave you feeling refreshed and thankful for life, this is it. The salt water pool is like swimming on a cloud...the yard is listed as semi-private but you literally do not hear or see anyone else. The chirping of the birds and the occasional jazz music being played by one of the neighbors are the only sounds you hear. The perfect sized deck and outdoor furniture are so cushy and comfortable you can sit outside forever staring at the stars. We rested comfortably on the new Master bedroom mattress and snuggled close on the world's most comfortable couch....no exaggeration, you should feel that thing. The location is ideal in that you are just a short walk to town or an even shorter drive. The Valu-Mart on Queen Street is perfect to pick up a few snacks and bottled water. We had authentic British fare at The Olde Angel Inn and walked along the streets and into the different interesting shops. Our first night in town we ordered amazing Chinese take out at Fans Court (order the Cantonese noodles, amazing!) and enjoyed it on the deck. Make sure to stop at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and pick up an "apple pie candy apple" and a bag of "tiger butter popcorn".,.trust me, it's so worth it. Oh, and just a short drive or bike ride down the road is Kurtz Orchards Farm and Marketplace...you have to check it out...and you must try their turkey, provolone and seasonal fruit sandwich. This is another great item to take back to the house and enjoy pool side or eat on the lawn on a picnic blanket. I consider my husband and I snobs about accommodations. We work hard and like to relax and vacation in a certain style. This bungalow style home met all of our expectations. We weren't there for fifteen minutes before we looked at each other and started planning our next getaway...at the same location. If you are a hardworking person looking for a romantic getaway where you unplug (literally, although the house is wireless ready but we did not bring a laptop and cell phone reception for Verizon/USA was scattered) this place is for you; it forces you to stop and appreciate life. I could not think of a better way to spend a long weekend. As I stated in my heading...it is the best kept secret and, while I am happy to share my amazing experience, selfishly hope it stays that way.
