Our group of 5 Canadians was on a month-long tour of Italy, including a week at Il Tufo (the Adriana apartment). The setting of rolling hills with vineyards and olive groves made it clear that we were truly in the heart of Tuscany. The apartment was very spacious and comfortable, and the grounds and surrounding area were a delight to walk in. It was a great base driving tours, as we managed day trips to Pisa, Lucca, Florence, Siena, the Chianti region and several other towns. It was also a great place to relax outside on the warm September evenings. Elena and Niccolo were very helpful and gave us great tips on shops, restaurants etc.

If (like us) you are a first time visitor, be aware that it is truly in the country, so it's not practical to follow the usual practice in Italy of going to a bar down the street for coffee and breakfast (in other words, stock up in advance). There is an excellent supermarket about 10 minutes drive away to make this easy (it has a good selection of wines as well).

From the first enquiries, it was clear that Il Tufo is managed by excellence. The photos are accurate but can't really capture the beauty of this property - you must see it! We stayed in the Il Fienile apartment and enjoyed the enormous patio with umbrella, dining table and chaise lounges with cushions. The bed was comfortable and all amenities were provided.

Poggibonsi is located centrally in Tuscany, making visits to the various hilltowns easy. It was quiet and so beautiful that some days we canceled or shortened outings just to stay and relax on the grounds.

Niccolo, Elena and Natale took great care of us. We will return to Tuscany and we will stay at Il Tufo.

We stayed in the Adriana apt. with another couple from May 23 - 30th, 2009. The listing for the property was accurate and we were very pleased. The grounds were well maintained and the manager Nicollio was very helpful. A great location to explore Tuscany - we spent evenings in San Gimingano after all the tourists left. An excellent restarant on the way there was the PODE - very good. A rental car is a must - but check with Nicollio about having one delivered to the property. We really enjoyed Colle Val D'Elsa - Castellini in Chianti, Monteriggioni, Sienna and so on. We took a train into Florence and spent a day - book the attractions before you go, or you'll never get into the Uffizi or Academia. The Pitti Palace was extraordinary - well worth it. Make sure to see David and Hercules - copies at Piazza della Signoria. The hop-on-Hop-off busses are a great way to get an overview of Florence. We also took a train to Pisa - it is a good walk to get to the Leaning Tower, Duomo and Bapistrey. We explored a lot of the area around Il Tufo and thought it was a great central location. The pool was a great gathering place to meet the other guests. An improvement could be made on the barbeque and some tools would be nice. We cooked quite a few meals in our apartment - especially breakfasts. The temps were in the mid 30's when we were there, and we found refuge in the pool after a full day of sightseeing. Don't always dismiss the Tourista Menus at restaurats - they can sometimes be a good deal. Take time to go off the beat and track to really explore this wonderful part of Tuscany. The views from our second story balcony were incredible at night - even saw fireworks off in the distance. I have already reccommended this property to friends and would go back in a heartbeat.

Just spent a week at Il Tufo. Great location and close to most of the best hill towns. Niccolo was a pleasure to deal with. I will be staying here on our next trip to Tuscany!
