Photos and Description of the Quettehou vacation farmhouse rental
Sleeps 12 with games room and large garden.

A peaceful self-catering property sleeping 12 is located 25 km from Cherbourg. The large kitchen/dining room has all the usual facilities, with a utility room for washing. A stone fireplace in the sitting room makes a cosy focal point for games and music. Two large attic bedrooms share a shower room, two further bedrooms on the first floor share a bathroom. A small curtained area offers a further bed and there is a shower room downstairs.

One of the barns contains snooker, tennis andfootball tables and a dart board. The garden is large and self-contained with a barbeque, tables and chairs. This makes it an ideal holiday house for family and friends to gather together.

The farmhouse is 10 minutes from sandy beaches with rock pools and the busy port of St Vaast la Hougue. Plenty of shops and restaurants are five minutes away. Sailing and sea kayaking, tennis and horse riding is available nearby. The Normandy landing beaches are 20 minutes away and further afield Caen and the Mont.

Golf: The nearest golf course is 15 minutes from the property at the sea resort of Fontenay -sur-Mer (Links course) with outstandingly well maintained greens and a challenging course for the most seasoned player. There is a second course 25 minutes away in Cherbourg.

Our fabulous holiday at Fanoville

We spent a fantastic week in the farmhouse in May 2009.

The location is absolutely perfect: away from it all, but at the same time, close to beaches, supermarkets and some lovely restaurants ( we especially enjoyed the 'moules et frites' at Barfleur and St.Vaast).

We were 3 adults, 2 grandparents and 4 teenagers, and I can honestly say that there was something for everyone at Fanoville!! The teenagers, who normally spend most of their time on the computer at home, were happy playing in the games room, followed by hide and seek, followed by boules or croquet on the lawn!! The adults were more than happy to enjoy a bbq in the beautiful garden in the Normandy sunshine!

The house is in an ideal situation to explore some of the historic sights of Normandy. The landing beaches are an absolute must, and a bit further afield is Mont St.Michel, which was worth the day-trip.

The facilities in the house are perfect and every need has been carefully considered! We actually felt that the photos did not do justice to the house or garden, and we were not expecting it to be as charming as it was!!

We would whole-heartedly recommend this house to any group of family or friends. You will definitely not be disappointed!!

Owner's Response: Thank you for pointing out how children are transformed when there is no television or internet connection for a week - it's amazing what a games cupboard and the extra barn enables them to get together to do!

Relaxing Easter Break

We enjoyed a Family break for a week at Easter 2009. This is a beautiful Farmhouse in a very peaceful setting. The gardens are lovely & the Farmhouse spacious & very well equipped. The house was warm, clean & well maintained. I would recommend this to friends & family alike. The location close to the Normandy coastline means there are plenty of opportunities to visit beaches & fishing villages, St Vaast & Barfleur two of the nearest.
There are plenty of good resturants/bistros & lovely markets in nearby towns/villages.

Owner's Response: That's what we have aimed to achieve - no television or internet means families can communicate and enjoy each other's company for a quiet break from modern living.

Fantastic family holiday

We spent a fabulous 2 weeks during the summer in this delightful 17th century farmhouse that has been tastefully updated and boasts all the modern amenities that a family need. The house has loads of character and is tucked away in a peaceful hamlet named Fanoville. The property has a number of beautiful barns one of which hosts the games room equipped with table football, table tennis, pool, darts etc. The garden has plenty of sun traps and is beautiful.

Locally there is the village of St Vaast and the lovely sea port of Barfleur. Both have great local restaurants and beaches as well as being working ports landing all manner of fresh fish. The area specialises in mussels and oysters which are a must for any shell fish enthusiast,

Close to these locations is the village of Reiville with the adjoining hamlet of Joinville which boasts the only south facing beach in Normandy and is truly beautiful. It also hosts a beach side bar for thirsty people.

Beyond that one can horse ride on the beach, canoe, play tennis and should the weather let you down you can visit the swimming pools in Cherbourg which is around 25 mins away.

All in all our children ad my parents had a fabulous holiday and we have no hesitation in recommending the area and this lovely farmhouse

Holiday in Normandy

Submitted: April 19, 2009 Stayed: August 2008
We had a great week with 3 families staying here in Aug 2008 - the games room was great for all the boys, the kitchen is very well equipped, garden was lovely and plenty of room for all. The local beaches are beautiful, we loved the market in St Vaast (and cooking the purchases to eat outside that lunchtime) and cycling out to the Normandy beaches was a really good day out.
