***NEW LOWER LEVEL AVAILABLE NOW, JUST COMPLETED MARCH 2013***

Cozy river front home with amazing sweeping views of the Truckee River and mountains. A hidden gem in a secluded and quiet neighborhood. This house has recently been remodeled with modern mountain style finishes and furnishings, and is fully equipped with everything you should need to relax and enjoy the mountains. We are located on the best stretch of the river for fishing and the river can now be fished year round. Fly fishing, Skiing, Kayaking, Swimming, Biking, Hiking, and more, all right outside our door.

NOTE: This home has two levels: upstairs & downstairs. Groups of up to 8 people max may rent the upstairs alone, or may add the downstairs if extra space is desired. Groups of 8-12 may rent the upstairs and downstairs together. The rates in 'RATE DETAILS' are for the upstairs only, there are listed at the end of this section for the whole house including the downstairs. If you would like a quote which includes all the fees please inquire.

UPSTAIRS BEDROOMS: sleeps 8 people. 3 Bedrooms: one king and two queens, plus bunk beds. 2 Bathrooms: whirlpool bath and shower in master bedroom, shower in guest bathroom. This level is perfect for 3 couples, or a romantic spacious getaway for two, or ideal for families with kids.

UPSTAIRS KITCHEN: Full gourmet kitchen with granite counter tops, all new stainless steel appliances including: gas 5 burner stove top with griddle, dishwasher, side by side refrigerator, oven, and microwave. Lots of pots and pans, cooking utensils, and small appliances such as toaster, coffee maker, coffee grinder, mixer, blender, slow cooker, and more...

UPSTAIRS LIVING ROOM: Cable TV, DVD player, Stereo CD player, leather sofa and recliner plus a sectional sofa for lounging in front of the fire (2 day beds). AMAZING VIEWS of the Truckee River and mountains.

UPSTAIRS DINING AREA: connected and open to the living room and kitchen, large rustic table with benches seats eight comfortably, views of the Truckee River and mountains.

UPSTAIRS DEN: original rock fireplace from the 1890's with a daybed, rocking chair, and work desk with chair.

UPSTAIRS DECK: a large wood deck added in 2005, with amazing views of the river and mountains. There is a dining table with umbrella with seating for 6, plus 4 lounge chairs. The deck is gated - good for keeping small children and dogs contained. Because the house is built into the hillside, the back deck is on the 2nd story with stairs down to the back yard.

FRONT ENTRY: Remodel completed in March 2013, heated concrete steps from the driveway to the front door so you don't have to shovel snow. Covered metal grate bridge, and covered patio with seating and firewood storage. Moss covered granite boulders and native plants are spread through the natural landscape. Chunky wood post and beam construction with concrete and metal work update this attractive new addition.

DOWNSTAIRS LEVEL - RENOVATION COMPLETED MARCH 2013. About Riaz Finnemore

We are avid skiers, hikers, bikers, paddlers, and fly fishers. We love escaping from the city to our home in the mountains to enjoy some peace and quiet and the great outdoors. We invite you to stay at our place and we will try and provide you with everything you need to have a great vacation!

Riaz Finnemore purchased this house in 2002
Why Riaz Finnemore chose Truckee

We spotted this hidden gem of a house while fly fishing the Truckee river. It's in a great location with easy access from the bay area or the Reno airport. The neighborhood is small, secluded and quiet, and right outside the door we enjoy nature and all of our favorite activities - no car required!

What makes this house unique

Aside from the obvious benefit of having the Truckee River right in our back yard, there is a really nice fire road just 100 yards from our front door which you can walk, run, bike, and sometimes even cross country ski! It goes along the river for a few miles and provides access to different spots on the river as well as some great views! We also have Boca Reservoir just a couple miles up the road which has boating, fishing, swimming, camping, biking, etc. If you are into biking, there are lots of good roads and mountain bike trails right outside the door. Paddlers tend to put in near our house because a couple miles down stream are the best rapids on the Truckee. Fishing is also best on our section of the river as we benefit from additional water from Boca Reservoir and other feeder rivers. If you want to be the first one or last one on the river, nothing beats staying on the river! If you enjoy skiing then you will enjoy missing all the traffic going to the Lake as we have the reverse commute, and we are also closer to I80 when you want to head home! If you enjoy quiet and nature then this is the place, there is plenty of wildlife just outside the door.

We wanted something with room enough for 3 families and dogs that had views. The Tuckee River House was a great find. We loved the modern decor and amenities and beautiful views. The patio was perfect to enjoy the beautiful outdoors with a view of the river and mountains. We only rented the upstairs which had lots of room, but I would definitely consider including the downstairs next time which had a great big family area and bar. I was very happy that the house allowed pets and was very happy to find that despite allowing pets the house was very clean while being pet friendly.

My whole family loved this winter cabin on the river. The remodeled front entrance is handsome and practical, the kitchen allows for many people to help out, the two sparate living areas accommodated the TV watchers versus the readers or game players. We certainly plan to come back.

Peaceful and Relaxing Getaway to welcome the New Year 2013

We arrived at this gem of a hideaway on New Year's day with our grandchildren. It was such a treat to enter a well-maintained, clean and warm home. Views from the living room and dining room with the sun setting in the snow covered mountains & glistening icicles from the roof top was absolutely breathtaking. This home, we thought, is more beautiful than the photos on the website reflect. Beautiful walking paths where we could see the trains go by very closely. The days we did not ski at Squaw Valley, we went sledding and found lovely hills very nearby and at the Boca Reservoir. Truckee Village which is only 5 minutes is absolutely delightful with varied restaurants and shops -- we found everyone in the village & in restaurants so very warm, friendly, and accommodating. The owner is very friendly and helpful -- gave us a lovely tour of the house in a very relaxed manner, and answered all our questions to our satisfaction. YES, we would defintely recommend this property to friends and relatives and to anyone who is looking for a relaxing, peaceful, hideaway -- and yet close to all the amenities, ski slopes, truckee river in the backyard, and hiking places. We look forward to returning back in the fall when the aspen trees are in full color.

We really enjoyed this cabin. It is ideal for fly fishing on the Truckee. My husband and son just walked out the back door to the river everyday. Everything was as described on the webpage. It'll be even better when the renovations are complete.
Views amazing, even the trains. They are far enough away to enjoy but not anoy.
Thanks.

Thank you again for sharing your wonderful Truckee hideaway with our family. We had a fantastic time and thoroughly enjoyed the house, deck, views, hiking, rafting, fishing, etc, etc, etc! What an amazing location, close to everything and yet away from everything at the same time...a gem, as I'm sure you are well aware! We look forward to returning in the future, perhaps next time in the snow. All the best to you.

Perfect Relaxation, Gentle sounds of Truckee River, Majestic Mountains, Activities for young and old

This 3 bedroom home is furnished and decorated with an eye of creative owners.

Early morning greets you with beautiful sunshine on Truckee River with glistening calm waters. Fishermen here and there calmly fishing and meditating. Beautiful mountains with aspen trees all in full color during the fall season beckon you to go for a hike. Snow covered mountains from the living room picture window reminded me of fairy land and Bing Crosby singing "I am dreaming of a white Christmas". Activities, hiking in the trees, parks, ski areas, Lake Tahoe -- all within short distance (10 - 25 miles). Truckee village is beautiful and offers everything from nice clean restaurants to beautiful shops. Residents of Truckee are very friendly.

Neighborhood is very friendly -- even the dogs that I am usually scared of are so friendly -- I went for a walk with 2 children and 2 neighborhood dogs just followed us enjoying the walk with us -- they did not bark, or jump -- they just played with each other following us all the way down to Truckee River -- nice picnic areas by the banks of the river.

House is very children friendly, and very very comfortable for older adults. Most items that one usually needs when one arrives, e.g., herb tea, coffee, sugar, many other supplies are there, so you can have a hot cup of tea before you go grocery shopping.

Fireplace at the end of an active day is delightful. We wish to go there every opportunity we get.
Rates are very reasonable and affordable. Owners are very accommodating, friendly and warm.

Enjoy!

We loved this place - there were so many great touches. Really nice kitchen, the master bath/jacuzzi was GREAT. The view from the living room were gorgeous (great sunrises) and an added bonus were the train tracks just beyond the river. If you like to watch trains you'll love it - they weren't too close to disturb our sleep. Couple of easy hills to sled down just by the house for the kids.
