Photos and Description of the Greenwood vacation house rental
House, 2 Bedrooms + Loft + Office, 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

2012 is our seventh year listing our summer lake house. Our house is situated on a very quiet location on the back of Twitchell Pond - a smaller Maine pond (mid-size lake)that prohibits noisy watercraft and has a very shallow public boat launch. The house is a well kept cedar home with beautiful views on a dead-end road (only cottage traffic). Secluded swimming and sunbathing with Southwest facing deck and dock for afternoon and evening sunsets. We have a deep water dock for great swimming and diving. There are two quiet sandy beaches with shallow access for little kids nearby (walking distance). Our house has a heated outdoor shower (full bath/shower inside house too). A canoe, sailboat and kayaks are available on property. There are flower gardens and berry bushes surrounding the house and lot. This is peaceful paradise! Quiet walks, hikes and biking are just a few steps away. Local town, theater, golf and grocery, great brew-pub are 15 minutes away by car.

About The Owner

Tammy and I are from Portsmouth, NH and both own our own businesses nearby. We built the lake house in 1995 for skiing and getting away from it all. It's been a great place for a reality check. We try to improve the property a little every year. Thank you looking at our property and if you stay, we hope you return again!

The Owner purchased this house in 1996
Why The Owner chose Greenwood

Peaceful, relaxing and private area. All other creature comforts are nearby, but that's not why we come here. It's so quiet and night, it takes a few nights to get used to. Sitting by the fire pit at night making smores and looking up at stars is awesome and hanging out on the dock and deck is very relaxing. It's hard to leave this place.

What makes this house unique

Outdoor shower. Great roads and trails for running, Mt. biking. Garden and grounds, flowers around the house. Fly fishing on nearby rivers (guides available) and moose watching at night.

We had a wonderful time at this lakefront cottage. It was a perfect getaway for us, very peaceful and relaxing. The cottage is well equipped and very comfortable. The setting is idyllic. The hosts we're extremely helpful and accommodating. We spent long afternoons reading on the dock, swimming or kayaking around the lake. I highly recommend this place.

My wife and I just returned from our second stay at this gorgeous home. Perfectly situated on the water with amazing privacy, we spent a week filled with swimming, cooking, kayaking, hiking, biking, and exploring. Couldn't recommend a better summer get away spot for a couple or two.

Summer 2011 Vacation

This cabin is a little slice of heaven! The location could not be more beautiful- quiet pond surrounded by the mountains. The cabin is clean, comfortable, well appointed and accommodated our family of four adults with room to spare. We kayaked on the pond, hiked and enjoyed antique shopping in the towns nearby. We highly recommend the roadside pie stand on Puzzle Mountain! We were sad when it was time to say goodbye. The owners were very helpful and provided all the information we needed to get there and for our stay. We would recommend this property without hesitation.

We stayed during February school vacation week. Skied at Sunday River everyday. Saw a moose on the way to the mountain. Wonderful, welcoming home that is extremely comfortable and nicely appointed. It was great to get away from the crowded mountain for the evening. It was a much nicer place to stay than some of the rentals on the mountain.

Bring hockey sticks for kids to play with on the ice. The pond was frozen and the kids had fun shooting the puck back and forth.

Will rent again the next time we go to ski!!!

We had a wonderful time. The house was clean, comfortable, and lovely. It was a perfect size for our family of 4. We loved kayaking, building camp fires and relaxing on the deck. Thanks so much.

We stayed at this beautiful vacation home for the first time in August of 2006. Our family enjoyed the sailboat, sunbathing on the deck, and watching hummingbirds at the feeders. The loons were quite active and we enjoyed listening to them at all times of the day and night! We bicycled, hiked, and relaxed in the quiet beauty of Twitchell pond. The sunrise was especially beautiful as we looked across the lake at the mountain tops in the early morning. This vacation home was lovely and had everything we needed for a fun and relaxing family vacation.

We have rented this home for 2 seasons and have had some of the best times! The place is beautiful, convienient to everything yet secluded and has everything you need. Our 3 children enjoy ice skating and ice fishing after a fun day of skiing. A great cozy Maine get away! Would highly recommend staying here! The Sayward Family
