This is a great place!
We stayed here for three nights in early May 2013, and couldn't have been happier with the apartment. The decor is lovely, the apartment is clean, and we felt like it was our "home." Mark, the owner, was there to greet us and he was very friendly and helpful. His wife, Reina, left us a bottle of wine and cheese biscuits - a perfect welcome for our travel-weary family. Mark and Reina's assistant, Sanne, was extremely helpful and friendly as well.
The apartment is well-appointed with great towels, linens, and beds. The entire apartment is clean and comfortable. There are numerous DVDs, boardgames, and books to use in your downtime. But there won't be much of that because the location of this apartment couldn't be better! It's just a short walk to the Rijksmuseum and van Gogh museum and tons of great shops and restaurants. There's also a great market right in the square outside of the apartment on Saturday mornings.
One of the best restaurants we discovered was right in the square outside of the apartment, a delightful, delicious, kid-friendly pizzeria. There are a few great parks for kids within a block or two of the apartment, not to mention Vondelpark and the Museumplein, where our two young boys (ages 2 and 4) liked to run around and chase the pigeons. If you need to rent a car, there's a great company right down the street that we used called Amcar. The supermarket is just a short walk as well.
Traveling with two small children, this apartment had ample space for each of us to have our own personal space to unwind. The only thing to note is that this apartment is on two levels. The first floor is reached via the steepest staircase I've ever seen in my life - although this is very typical for Dutch homes. The first floor houses the kitchen, living room, and half-bath. The stairs to the second floor, where the bedroom and bathroom are located, are less steep but are curved. All this to say that if you're not able to climb steps with ease, or you have small children who have not yet mastered steps, this apartment sadly may not be for you.
We loved our stay in Amsterdam, and much of that had to do with this apartment. We hope to visit and stay in this apartment again!
