The pool is on the final floor, complete with more sun loungers (the owners really give the impression that they want you to relax!) The pool has steps into it, & its own cleaning system. The pool was a little cool, but we did use it each day!
The Villa itself is high on a hill, and although the taxi driver had problems finding it (Beatriz has sorted this issue now) its isolation is certainly lovely – it is in such a quiet setting, with lovely views.
The website says that a car is essential- we did not have one! We took a walk down to the beach most days – the walk is down an unmade road, using the gate by the pool. It is a bit steep in places, but not difficult if you have good mobility and are semi fit! The walk back is up hill, but with a couple of rests for the unfit members of the party, we managed it without a problem. There is no way you would be able to push a push chair up / down the hill though. The walk to the beach took approx 10-15mins, back it took a little longer!!!!
On the way to the beach is a Spar which we used to buy all the food we needed for the week. The shop was well stocked & food was a good price. If you are due to arrive in the evening I would suggest you bring something with you or ask the taxi driver to stop off at the Spar on the way because I don’t think I would want to walk up the hill in the dark. I have suggested to the letting agent that the owner considers doing a Welcome Pack for a small charge to give holiday makers time to settle in before having to go to the shop!
The local beach is lovely – small, clean and safe. The children spent hours playing in the sea. There is a bus stop near by that you could use to travel to the other nearby beaches.
The property is a newly rented villa and we thought it was good value for money – a car was not essential (as long as you can manage a hill) the villa itself was very well presented, exceptionally clean and well equipped. The owner and letting agent were both really helpful and a pleasure to work with. We would recommend this villa.
Owner's Response: Dear Aly,
Thank you so much for all your words in our private emails and in this gorgeous review! You know we have just started renting this house and we are very interested in our guests experiences at the house and I have learnt so much from you. Although we spend a lot of time trying to take out the most of the house, usually happens that are the guests the ones that know what the house really needs to have a perfect holiday and we want to make sure you stay is a 5 star holiday home! For sure we shall consider the Welcome Pack (I cannot get rid of the image of the taximeter running while my guests do their shopping..) but we will not be charging for that.
Thank you too for talking about the trip to the beach on foot. Your description will be very helpful for all those who write asking about the distance to the beach and Spar and the need of renting a car. I keep saying that the path is not well-conditioned for all kinds of people so I do recommend a car to fully enjoy the house and its surroundings but it is true that not everyone might need it.
We are very proud that you liked not just the house but the island itself as we know you are already planning your next visit. It was funny to see the need of the air conditioning in New Years Eve.. Thank you also for that :) We wish you all the best and hope to see you soon, the Villa en Playa del Cura team
