Converted Barn with 3 bedrooms (all en-suite) sleeps 6 + 2 + cot
Each property can be rented separately, or jointly to accommodate a family get together. The Hay Barn and Barley Barn both sleep 6 people in bedrooms, plus 2 extra guests on sofa beds, making a total of 16. The Cart Lodge sleeps 4, with one bedroom and a sofa bed. In total between the three properties, 14 guests in bedrooms and 6 guests on sofa beds.

We live locally and often went past the barns when walking our dog. We bought them when they were in a poor state and Jason spent five years working most weekends on them, renovating them and saving all of the materials and features that he could to keep the character of the barns. I was responsible for tea making, supply of lunch, cleaning, fetching and carrying....! In fact, it is a real family business with our children helping with the chickens, gardens and occasional cleaning duty. our children into the the lovely homes that they now are. After spending many happy holidays on farms and beautiful houses in France, Ireland and Wales, we wanted to offer high quality accommodation to people who wanted to get away from it all or bring their beloved pets with them to share their holiday, just as we wanted to.
We renovated Jepcrack's over a number of years, working with each barn's unique character and adding luxurious touches to make our guests' stay special.
We opened The Hay Barn to our first guests in October 2011, closely followed by the adjoining Barley Barn in December 2011.
We have just completed The Cart Lodge and are looking forward to welcoming guests to our newest property.
The barns can be rented separately, for 2 people upwards, or you can rent all 3 to provide accommodation for up to 20 people.
Each property has its own character and as the buildings emerged we worked with each one to bring out their unique features and to add special touches to make them interesting, comfortable and homely.
THE HAY BARN has a great downstairs area with breakfast bar, ideal for a get together. With a king sized bedroom and tow further double bedrooms, all en-suite, it is great for friends or families.
The BARLEY BARN is very much a home from home, with an open plan lounge, kitchen and dining area. The master bedroom is downstairs and has a king sized bed and sofa bed, making it ideal as a family room. The antique French wardrobe and jacuzzi bath en-suite give that touch of luxury. The double bedroom upstairs is spacious and also has an en-suite. The third bedroom offers flexibility of either a single, twin or king sized bed and also has a bathroom opposite.
THE CART LODGE is a delight. With vaulted ceilings throughout and walnut and marble floors, it has a French, antique theme. Nothing shabby about this; just pure chic. The ideal romantic retreat.

Lovely Barn with Perfectly Restored
After a 4 hour drive from our home to Essex, the Barn was a welcoming sight in the dull winter afternoon - spotlessly clean, very comfortable and lovely and warm.
The Barn has been lovingly restored, but isn't at all bland - having kept some original features - as the pictures show - and was great to come back to after a wedding and relax in-front of the wood burning stove! Its location means its very peaceful and relaxing - the only noises being from birds - but also only 10-15 minutes from Witham Train Station which can whisk you into Central London in around 45 minutes.
Both Jason and Carmel are excellent hosts - very welcoming and friendly.
I would definitely recommend the Barn - and the area - and would definitely consider the barn as an option when wishing to stay near / around London.

Christmas break 2011
All rooms are new and with nice decor. The master bedroom is roomy and the bathroom is fully equipped. The kitchen facilities are great and all you need. Jason and Carmel (the owners) are very hospitable and welcoming. They even left a Christmas hamper for us and festive decorations all around the house.
Good location with a few pubs within 30min walk, exactly what was needed after a heavy lunch.
We had a great time and will definitely be coming back.

Christmas/New Year break to Essex
We did a big food shop the day before we were going, got a turkey from a local farm thanks to Jason had a big turkey dinner one night, we took board games and dvd's and the xbox/kinect - only brought a hdmi cable not the scart lead so unfortunately we couldn't play it. We weren't bothered though it was just fun being with good friends in the barn in beautiful surroundings.
It's great that each bedroom has en-suite and then there's also an extra toilet. Everyone in our group was pleased with sleeping arrangements all the bedrooms were very nice and the sofa bed in the living room was superb for one of the group.
The outside garden/patio area was a good size could imagine it be being lovely in summer with the great big bbq and table and chairs that are provided.
Jason recommended a few pubs, we ended up at the Compasses because they were dog friendly so we took a walk down there on new year's eve. Excellent duke box, they weren't doing food but the kind owner did a few of us a sandwich and put Beth her lovely black lab in the back so we could bring our dog inside.
This place is great we all said there's not one thing we would change in the barn - apart from maybe a hot tub outside! But overall it's just perfect and made our new year the best ever, was great being away and doing something different.
Thanks for an amazing time in Jepcracks Barn...we didn't want to leave!
