The Perfect Holiday

Holly C Vermont, United States
Review Submitted: May 4, 2008 Date of Stay: February 2008
This was my first time traveling out of the United States. This apartment was perfect with all the amenities of home and the flair of Morocco. I felt very comfortable and secure here. The apartment is walking distance to everything you need. This was important since I was at Jemma El Fna almost every night. I would recommend this apartment to anyone. It is quiet, convenient to everything, modern, secure and beautiful. Camran also made sure I was comfortable in my strange surroundings and offered to help if I needed it. I hope to stay here again in the near future. Thank you Camran!!!

The apt location for any kind of trip to Marrakech

Hash123 UK
Review Submitted: July 21, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
I booked this place when i had no clue about the country or city. Camran comforted right from booking and his counterparts in Marrakech made the stay really a life time memorable one. The location of the building, the quality of the apartment, they are second to none. The cleanliness, style, and all essential items for self catering fulfills a dream stay.

I will recommend everyone who wish to go to Marrakech that this is the ideal place to stay if you can get it. I will go myself again.

Palazio Gueliz

Pataudi London
Review Submitted: March 31, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
Nice apartment, 10 min walk to centre of Gueliz i.e. McDonalds on one side and min walk to the central rail station on the other side. Small taxi pay around 10 dr (per person I think?) all the way to the Medina. One of the guy's switched on the meter from the Medina to the apartment and that came to around 8dr.
The apartment is comfortable with hot water in the bath and a TV in the lounge. Did not use the cooking facilities although a descent kitchen was available.
Camran although not in the country was helpful with regular texts. Munir who looks after the apartment in Marrakech turned up at 1am on the night I arrived and was quite helpful and guided me about the area. Overall a good small apartment that can accommodate more with the sofa bed if you have kids.

A beautiful flat with lovely food+relaxing shisha!

miss AMBER Florida, USA
Review Submitted: January 26, 2009 Date of Stay: December 2008
Me and my fiancé had a wonderful holiday in this beautifully-decorated clean and modern apartment which had all the facilitys that we needed and more. We paid a little extra to have traditional Moroccan home-dinners cooked by local chef, the couscous and tajine tasted just amazing! Afterwards we relaxed by smoking a lovely shisha which was provided for us in the apartment, this was Arabic culture for real! The location was excellent as all the good things in Marrakech were within quick walking distance. The owner and local agent were both very helpful. I'm recommending this property to all my friends.

cheap place to stay if you don't mind cockroaches

marco_polo Zurich, Switzerland
Review Submitted: November 3, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
Summary: The bedding was gross, there were small cockroaches in the kitchen, and the bathroom sink wouldn't drain properly, and the internet was dead from the second day on.

I asked for some help at the security office (they are extremely nice and helpful) in the front of the building. They disassembled the drain pipe and pulled out an unsightly, rotting mash of hair.

On the first day in the apartment, the water coming from the sink faucets was brown and sporadic, but afterwards it was ok.

The location is quite good, and the building the apartment is safe and secure. The people who handed over the apartment to us were extremely friendly.

Be careful with the computer - it's virus ridden. The internet expired after the second day. The service provider redirected to a webpage saying the bill hadn't been paid.

The TV is quite large and works well, I'm not sure what the other reviewers were complaining about.

I wouldn't stay there again, I'd rather spend a bit more for a nicer place.
Owner's Response: First of all, there are absolutely no cockroaches & i would invite the reviewer to provide his evidence of this severe allegation. As you can see clearly yourself from all the photos above, there are no cockroaches at all, in fact the flat is very clean. Testiment to this fact are my 60+ fully satisfied clients who have rented in the last 18months, none of whom have ever mentioned such thing as an insects problem & i'm more than happy to put you in contact with my previous clients if you'd like to verify this for yourself. Everytime i stay at the flat myself, i sleep on the carpet due to a spine problem & i would certainly not be doing if that if there were cockroaches around!

Secondly, the fact that the reviewer was lucky enough to benefit from a very generous last-minute-discount to rent on empty dates, does not make PalazioGueliz a "cheap place". On the contrary with a market value of 20,000 dirhams/squarefoot it is one of the most expensive & desirable 1-bedroom flats you could buy in the whole city of Marrakech.

I inform all my clients to keep in contact with me by phone call or sms throughout their stay, especially so if they have any complaints or problems so that i can personally resolve these issues for them. I have even put a phone allowing outgoing calls in the flat for this reason.

However this reviewer made no attempt to contact me during his stay & afterwards when i emailed him asking if everything had gone ok, he decided not to reply to me. Indeed the first i heard that he was unhappy was when i read the above review!! I can't fix something when i don't know its broken & no other client has informed me of these alleged problems with cleaning, plumbing & internet. It seems that this gentleman had a bad holiday in Marrakech for his own personal reasons, so unfortunately he decided to write some entirely false statements about my flat in which he stayed.

Worst Lodging Experience in Morocco

CPW RE New York, NY, USA
Review Submitted: July 13, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
I booked and had paid for a stay at this place for 4 nights July 6th through the 9th. Spoke with owner and paid through Pay Pal. Chose this apt. because of computer/internet access, the AC, as Marrakech is very hot at that time of year, and the TV as well as the location.

This is what happened: 1. The contact person was not available to meet us even though we notified owner and contacted this person as to when we were arriving. Another person showed us the apt. but did not know owner and could not answer our questions.
2. There was no existing Air Conditioner in the bedroom and the AC in the living room gave out only hot air.
3, There was no internet access and the TV was tiny and not what was in the photos on the site.

It would have been impossible to sleep in the apartment or even be moderately comfortable as there was really no functioning AC. As the apt. is tiny and sun came in all afternoon it was literally a "hot box."

After speaking with owner, we decided not to stay as he was not providing an acceptable solution which would be a functioning AC. And I am pursuing return of payment.

Hope this helps others.

Great Apartment

RoxanneJ Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
Review Submitted: May 4, 2008 Date of Stay: January 2008
Palazio Gueliz was a wonderful little apartment for my recent business trip to Marrakech. It was clean, modern and the internet connection worked perfectly once I figured it out! The location was extremely convenient for me as I was able to walk to my office and being so close to Mohammed V meant it was close to some wonderful cafes and shopping. It was clean and quiet and everything worked perfectly. Both the owner, Camran, and his contact in Marrakech, Mounir, were great and especially helpful when my arrival flight was delayed by 5 hours and Mounir had to let me into the apartment at 1:30 in the morning! Great service. The only things to improve was that hot water was in somewhat short supply and I wished that there had been more towels available. However, when I checked out I advised Camran of both of these things and he assured me he would improve them. I will definitely rent this apartment again on my next business or holiday trip to Marrakech as the location, price, amenities and service were extremely good.

Sincerely,

Roxanne J.

The PC with internet was amazing bcos I was able to run my business while away & thanks to the satellite tv I got to watch news&sport from back home, as well as lots of amazing arabic music videos!
