This 'stancija' (a local name for a small family-owned estate with various residential and utility buildings) is a traditional Istrian property a mere 15 minute drive from Rovinj. Stancija Mani holiday homes were constructed and restored according to age-old traditions using local stone, combining contemporary and traditional architectural elements, materials and aesthetics.
The seclusion and tranquil atmosphere of this property close to Rovinj provides the best of what Istria has on offer- a mild climate, beautiful landscapes, rural peace and quiet at the height of the holiday season and yet a mere 20 minute drive to crystal clear Adriatic beaches, close to Rovinj and Porec, and a 30 minute drive to the centre of Pula.
Located between Kanfanar and Zminj, Stancija Mani is ideal as a starting point for anyone wishing to explore the Istrian peninsula and equally suitable for a peaceful holiday 'off the beaten track'.

My week of sheer bliss
For a start the accomodation was incredible with attention to the tiniest of details. Yes, it is billed as 'rustic', but done with a 5* flair which makes you feel like an honored house guest. Every need is catered for, with amazing bathrooms- (they are all equipped with walk in showers and rainforest shower heads), to comfortable beds and fully functioning kitchens, with coffee, tea and other essentials waiting to be used. All the cottages are perfect for sleeping-in, lazy days reading and sunbathing and eating. They all have balconies. In the evenings when it gets dark, its ideal for sitting outside in the warm summer nights, talking, playing cards, listening to music or watching films, hearing the gentle chirping of crickets and hooting of nearby owls.
When I felt like i needed a break from working, the beautiful Istrian Coastline was 10 mins away by car, or I could drive into Ravinj and walk around the old city, talk to local artists, browse antique shops and drink coffee.
There is ample space, peace and quiet, but what really makes it special is the hosts Zahra and Karen. Both experts in local cuisine, wine and music, they were really happy sharing all their edible knowledge of the surrounding area. In fact, with their help, I pieced together what was essentially an impromptu week-long gastronomic tour of the area, including a 7 course meal over 5 hours in a local agro-tourismo place. My heart loved them, my waistline did not :-) You have to try the local cheese, prosciutto and honey raki.
Over and beyond the food, they can also help with local wine buying, best places to go for walking, swimming and of course local concerts. In fact, they will bend over backwards to ensure that your stay is perfect in every way. This, coupled with the tranquil location and beautiful cottages and bedrooms means that, 2 weeks later, I am still glowing and feeling the effects of a perfect, relaxing holiday.
Its a great choice for a romantic getaway, perfect for family holidays, and ideal for individuals who needs some down time. I've already booked my return flights.
