Simply Perfect

Villa Meon or Villa Dwelling comes no where near the description that should be used for this idyllic, sanctuary of sophisticated luxury nestled into the hills above Cannes. Cannes sur Mer is only ten minutes by car and only a twenty minute drive to the bustling squares, beautiful fountains and excellent restaurants of Vence.

Although we only stayed a week the peace and tranquillity of this villa and it’s setting made it hard to leave and even harder to forget. A most memorable holiday and one I intend to re-live again!

Letting your girlfriend find and book this villa is an exceptionally good move as it means that you can arrive not knowing what to expect.

I was delighted by Villa Meon; by the sheer steepness of the driveway, by the infinity pool with it view across the valley towards the white horse grazing at almost impossible angles on the craggy slopes of the other side, the bumble bees buzzing and bowling along around the lavender adding yet another layer of provencal charm to the shuttered house and her clay brick, rustic tiles. I loved the reflection of the sun on the whitewashed walls, that wonderful evocative light green of the wooden gate and happy lean to feel of the the outdoor kitchen, where the rugged man of the wild can produce outlandishly brilliant, hand crafted pizzas to wow any guest. (OK, I went to the pizza van in La Guade and bought them, then pretended to have produced them myself by pulling them out on the wooden paddle from the pizza oven. But it still looked good!). All this I had felt and I hadn't even got to the door.

The house itself is bright and airy, whitewashed walls contrasting with the boldness of the wooden beams and the luxurience of the comfortable leather sofas. It flows nicely and easily from kitchen to diner to lounge and has the added benefit of a truly gorgeous dining patio, resting gently under the canopy of vines. Spent a lot of time here just looking out over the valley.

We did almost nothing the entire time we were here. Reading books and dipping in the pool, playing the Indiana Jones Wii game on the huge widescreen TV, having sundowners by the palm tree while leaning on the ballustrade of the lower terrace or indulging in food either out by the pool on on the covered terrace. This was interspersed with outbreaks of art (St. Paul de Vence is well worth it for Fondation Maeght alone) or a pop down into the buzz of Nice, the Riviera or a evening out in the restaurants of Haute Cagnes.

It is simple. Go. Rest. Enjoy. Villa Meon really is worth it.

Villa Meon - Review

Absolutely Beautiful Villa. Highly Recommended. Very Spacious. Pool was lovely - a little cold as we stayed in early May - but that did not deter us. Location wise the villa is ideal - near to the Major attractions of Nice, Cannes & Monaco and yet set in a rural peaceful setting. We are already planning our return next summer. Thanks again to Oliver and Molly for all their help in ensuring our stay was perfect.

Simply Superb

We stayed at Villa Meon at the start of Sept 08 and really loved it. Its in the hills so not as scorching hot as the sea-side resorts, but still enjoys a very pleasant climate (around 28C during our stay). The villa itself is very well decorated and furnished, is very comfortable and feels more like a home than a rental property. We took day trips to Monte Carlo and St Paul de Vence, which were both easy to find and very interesting (in quite different ways). I'd recommend having a car if you are planning to stay at Villa Meon, it makes day trips a lot easier and also helps in getting supplies and dropping off rubbish, etc. Overall its a great location and we are certainly considering going back soon.

Holiday at Villa Meon

Villa was well kept, extremely clean and well maintained. The whole family enjoyed the pool and the WII !
We found the local restaurant in La Gaude extremely popular and the food excellent ! We had 10 days of wall to wall sunshine which obviously had a positive impact on our stay but found the Villa in an ideal setting for both staying put and also visiting nearby beaches such as Antibes and Cannes. We spent a great day in Monte Carlo , Nice and Cannes and would recommend Antibes and Juan Les Pins also. Only negative was being woken every morning by the neighbours rather loud cockerel !
Would suggest that Air Conditioning might be considered for the summer months but otherwise the stay was extremely comfortable and the villa well stocked. Would definately consider a return !! Thank you

A well equiped villa in a quiet location, with a beautifull view. Have spent 11 nights there as our base camp for trips to the riviera and inland. If you are a barbecue fan, you will be satisfied here. The village offers 2 good supermarkets, even a fresh fish shop. Do rent a car in forward, otherwise you may have trouble to get one - even in Nice.

Absolutely gorgeous

Just stunning a gorgeous villa with everything needed for a family holiday. A very romantic setting too. I have no hesitation in reccomending this property for a family with small children or teenagers, We were 7, grown up son with girlfriend, 1 teenager, 2 kids under 10 and me and the wife.

Great pool, great bar-b-que good effcient kitchen, 2 good bathrooms, 3 good size bedrooms and a "loft" bedroom the kids loved sleeping in. Spacious lounge diner inside and 2 outside eating areas, I wore out the bar-b-que I am sure.

15 mins drive to the closest beach. We did Antibes in about 45 mins because of traffic etc not distance, Nice about 25 mins. Loads to see and do but car is needed.

The web site does not do this property justice, (Oliver, you need to fix that.)

A PIECE OF PARADISE

Review Submitted: April 23, 2008 Date of Stay: April 2008
You'd be mad not to stay in Villa Meon. It's a beautiful house in a beautiful location, cosy in the winter with a huge log fire and light and airy on hot summer days. The villa has a very cosy feeling. 6 of us stayed for a week and we all had plenty of room. The outside living space is everybit as good as the inside space with a choice of patios to eat/drink on or just to relax in the sun.

We were all thrilled with Villa Meon and will certainly be back.

Wonderful Holiday Retreat

I had the most fantastic few days staying at the above Villa just outside the Village of La Gaude. The house is wonderfully laid out with 4 very good bedrooms a fantastic
sitting room with the best log fire I have ever seen! There were a few of us staying and there was enough space for us not to feel crampt and great to have the outside spaces(terrace with wonderful view) too,I just wish it was warm enough for us to use the pool as it looked so inviting. I would highly recommend this house to anyone looking to have a fab time in the South of France either for a quite relaxing time or for some adventures and exploring as everything is within easy reach just a short drive away (like Monaco which was Fantastic!)

I loved it and will definitely be going back!

August in Villa Meon

Review Submitted: March 10, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2007
We spent a very pleasant week in Villa Meon during August 2007. The Villa has great facilities: Pool, Veranda, Barbecue and outside Pizza Oven, high quality TV and Video, etc.. It's also in a lovely and peaceful location.

Despite our best intentions to explore the beaches of Nice and Cannes it was so relaxing that we never strayed more than a few miles from La Gaude which has plenty of shops and markets including a fabulous little bakery just up the road. The furthest we got was St Paul de Vence which a definitely worth a visit to check out the galleries and just chill out with a cafe au lait or two.

The weather for our stay was perfect, warm but not too hot. Our girls (9 and 6) had a fantastic time. They loved playing in the pool and exploring the garden. They also enjoyed watching 'bob l'eponge' on the 42" TV.

We were very well looked after by Alison who helps to manage the Villa. She met us on arrival with the keys and showed us around. She also gave us some helpful tips on local facilities and dropped in during the week to check everything was OK.

All in all a very enjoyable holiday. We will certainly be booking again for 2008.
