Amazing break in excellent apartment

Don't go to Taghazout if you like a flashy lifestyle. Do go if you want to stay in a working fishing village with friendly people and a great atmosphere. We (2 couples) stayed in Shems, and we all loved it: the apartment was comfortable and attractive, and sufficiently equipped for easy self-catering. There appeared to be plenty of eating options in Taghazout, but we only had three days (and 3 of us are veggies). The USP has to be the terrace and the fantastic views of the Atlantic and the beach ... right now we are missing our morning teas and coffees outside in the sun (7-10 December was our stay). We swam (great waves and plenty of surfers) on the local beach, but within walking distance was a brilliant beach (Panorama Beach) where we walked for hours - also had camel ride. Car pretty essential if you want to explore at all - we went to Taroudant (known as 'Little Marrakech') and spent a great couple of hours in the souk. We also drove up to the Kasbah for great views of Agadir. Our haggling/negotiating skills were somewhat lacking, but this is a cultural adjustment that we hope to rectify in a future visit!
Yes, we would all happily recommend this apartment and area. Ros, the owner, was welcoming and helpful (and on-hand in a higher apartment). Mohamed, the manager, was also an excellent source of advice and help ... and close by, running a shop a few metres from the apartment. NB Taghazout is a 'dry' town, so any alcohol needs to be bought beforehand (Mohamed took us to Metro, Agadir). There are plenty of small local shops selling excellent bread, daily fresh milk and loads of vegetables and fruit. Oh, and did I mention the wonderful sunsets ....?
