About Wendy Waghorn

Wendy worked in the Fashion Industry as a Fashion Buyer in London and around the world for over 20 years, moving on to interiors buying and interior design. Graham worked for the BBC as a Director of Photography and then freelance Film unit, so they bought this apartment for when they were working in London

Wendy Waghorn purchased this apartment in 2008
Why Wendy Waghorn chose Richmond & Kew

They both love this area, as Wendy owned a fabulous Houseboat about 200 yards up The River Thames,so when this property came up, beside the River and next door to Hampton Court, they jumped at it. Whats not too like!It is also a very old building steeped in history, yet it has been modernised in a contemporary way. Giving the best of both worlds, and a super power shower!

What makes this apartment unique

Sitting on the patio, enjoying the view of the River and the beautiful gardens with a glass of wine. Perfect.

Rotary Court near Hampton Court Palace provided my wife and I with a cozy, modern, and quiet apartment with a view of the Thames River. The beds are very comfortable. The appliances are all modern and working well. The bathroom has all up-to-date facilities.

Rotary Court allowed us to avoid the expense and stress of renting a car. Tip: At Heathrow Airport, we each bought a Visitor's Oyster Card that we could use on all London modes of transportation (bus, train, subway, ferry).

Rotary Court allowed us to walk to local shops (grocery, restaurants, cafes, fish and chips, pharmacies, doctors, etc.): to reach nearby (but not walkable) areas by bus (Kingston, Richmond, Key Gardens, National Archives, etc.), and to walk to the Hampton Court Rail Station where we could reach any town or city in.Southeast England easily (London, Windsor, Guildford, Portsmouth, etc).

In summary, we found Rotary Court the ideal apartment for our activities and would return again.

My husband and I have been lucky enough to stay at Rotary Court for several weeks since our house move was delayed. The apartment is in the most wonderful location with easy access to Kingston and London (among many other destinations) by bus or train and close to the M3 and A3 too. The restaurants and small, unique shops of Bridge Street particularly have been great and we can highly recommend the Thai, Indian, Lebanese and Italian restaurants all within a few minutes walk plus the tea rooms at Hampton Court or the cafes and pubs by the river. There's even a Marks and Spencer in the BP garage nearby. Easy access to Bushy Park, the river footpath to Kingston and beyond, Hampton Court Palace and Home Park have all made our stay even more enjoyable.
For anyone not familiar with the area it's worth mentioning that the apartment is a very short walk to the overground railway station with excellent services to London and a bus stop is right outside the front door serving the surrounding area. Despite this, because the apartment is overlooking the river and glorious gardens, it is very quiet - no traffic noise can be heard at all. If you're here at the same time we were you might like to enjoy ice skating at Hampton Court or even the services in the Hampton Court Chapel. Or the year round open air swimming pool in Hampton or the choice of local theatres in Hampton (a small theatre) Kingston (The Rose) or Richmond Theatre. The Rose and Richmond show mainstream performances often prior to the West End.

The apartment itself is very comfortable and is fully equipped to a very high standard - the owner has accommodated our every request promptly and efficiently and made us very welcome. We do not hesitate to recommend Rotary Court and will be sad to leave.

Stylish boutique apartment in an amazing location

My husband, son and I had a very enjoyable stay at Rotary Court. We were travelling from Hong Kong and decided to choose an apartment over our usual choice of a hotel. What a good decision!

Wendy was very efficient handling the booking and all the questions we had, we arrived to find a thoughtful gift, fresh flowers and a well-equipped apartment just a stone's throw from Hampton Court Palace. We were spoilt for choice when it came to dining, we spent some evenings exploring the interesting pubs and restaurants nearby, as well as cooking at the apartment itself. The kitchen is equipped with all the utensils that you would need, as well as a large oven and microwave. Everything looked shiny and new.

The apartment itself was very clean and modern, despite the traditional character of the building. The neighbours were friendly and it was great being able to park our car in secure parking at the back of the building, which incidentally has a view of the river and the well-manicured gardens. We always looked forward to going back to a warm and cosy apartment in the evening. By the same token, we imagine it would be very relaxing to sit on the outside patio with a glass of wine admiring the views when the weather is warmer.

We would love to come back again if we had the chance, there were so much nice touches about our stay, from the hospitality extended by Wendy and Graham from start to finish, to the wonderful apartment itself!

Wonderful London Alternative

This Thames-side studio apartment across the road from Hampton Court Palace provides a relaxing, convenient alternative to staying in congested central London. Everything is still easily reached by bus of train, with stations only steps away, but you return to a magnificent garden setting with your own shaded patio and chairs where you feel you are enjoying the best of scenic Britain. While compact, the apartment has everything you need for comfortable sleeping, showering and making your own meals when you want to relax from touring and watch the latest, news, drama or movie on the wide range of available channels. There's a wide choice of grocery stores and restaurants within walking distance and fine shopping in Kingston-on-Thames only five minutes away by bus, or 45 minutes cruise by ferry along The Thames in season. Best of all is the sensitive and warm attention of your hosts, Wendy and Graham, who will arrange for an ex-BBC friend to pick you up or deliver you to Heathrow Airport for a very competitive fare. All of these fine benefits also make the apartment a convenient and relaxing choice as a base if you are in London on business. A special thanks to Wendy for the all the thoughtful furnishing and convenient supplies which greet your arrival.
Owner's Response: Thank you Doug for this brilliant review,It was a pleasure having you stay. One of the things I enjoy about renting our apartment out is the interesting people we meet. It never ceases to amaze me the different holidays that people take and how far they travel i.e. in your case Canada. After your trip around Europe as well I am really glad we were able to make your stay comfortable and relaxing. Kind regards, Wendy

We had a wonderful time at this lovely flat!

The listing was accurate, the property very clean and well maintained, the owner is an outstanding host. We highly recommend this flat and we hope to visit it again. It has an exquisite garden with privacy, mature trees and the Thames. The flat is well designed, very clean and well kept. Wendy provides full info on use of appliances, local maps, suggestions and activities. Lots of extra touches, extra blankets, and a well stocked, very efficient kitchen with a nice sized freezer. We enjoyed walks along the river, and visiting Hampton Court Palace down the street. Restaurants and good pubs nearby, and just across the bridge are shops and restaurants, the train to Central London, and a Marks & Spencer Food Mart! Just in front of the flat is the bus to Kingston upon Thames, with its large shopping area (including a huge M&S), river walks and boats, and masses of history. The Museum gives a good historical overview, and All Saints Church, founded in 1120 AD, is a fine example of English church architecture over the years, as are the buildings surrounding the Church and marketplace. The historic market is fun, still selling fruit, vegetables and fresh fish, and the Market Hall houses the tourist information center. Down the street is the Rose Theatre, with a regular schedule of excellent productions. We could go on and on; there is so much to see and do in this beautiful corner of England. Yes, we plan to return to Rotary Court, and we highly recommend Wendy's property. Location? Michael Faraday's and Sir Christopher Wren's homes on one side and Cardinal Wolsey's on the other, with Henry VIII just down the street. The flat is extremely relaxing and comfortable, Wendy is a warm and friendly host, and that makes all the difference especially when you plan a trip on the internet from thousands of miles away.
Owner's Response: Thank -you so much for your brilliant review. It was a pleasure having you as guests. I really enjoyed our " chats by email about Hampton Court and the history of the area". You are right, there is so much to see in this area. Hampton Court Palace, with its beautiful gardens, the maze,
fabulous coffee shop/restaurant, flower show, music festival, and even ice skating at Christmas.
The river Thames has its own magic, with so much to see.
We look forward to your next visit, and we will make you welcome. We even take credit card payment now!
Kind regards, Wendy.

A jewel in the crown of Hampton Court Palace!

This wonderfully appointed modern apartment is set in truly magnificent gardens that roll down to the edge of the Thames River where the yatchs bob on the water. The apartment has central heating on a timer so the apartment is always temperate. Your hosts Wendy and Graham are so helpful and friendly. This isn't accomodation - it's a home. Hampton Court station is a 300 metre stroll away for a train into the centre of London. There are several shops and cafes opposite the station. Bus stops are even closer (one right next to the apartment building) for a 10 minute ride to the centre of Kingston-upon-Thames where you'll find every shop large and small that you require. There's a great pub and lovely restaurant jutting out over the Thames 100 metres from your door. You must visit the magnificent Hampton Court Palace which is also 100 metres away. Allow at least 4 hours for this great tour. Do yourself a favour - stay at this jewel in the crown of Hampton Court Palace!

A FANTASTIC HOLIDAY RENTAL!!!!

I stayed in Wendy's beautiful and luxurious apartment with my 2 daughters age 11 and 16 in July 2011. We had a truly wonderful holiday as there was something for us all. The apartment is exactly as described on the website and more! It is immaculately clean and tidy. We arrived to find fresh flowers, a gift and a welcome card too. (Thank you Wendy)

We met quite a few of Wendy's neighbours as we sat outside on the lovely patio in the evenings - they are all very friendly. The gardens of the apartment building are beautiful and, after a frantic day out in London, an oasis for a quiet read in the sun.

The apartment is perfect as a base for exploring London as it is very easy to get to all the attractions by train. If you keep your train ticket, you can download all the 2 for 1 offers on the website for London attractions which saves a fortune!

We were lucky enough to go to the Royal Hampton Court flower show as well as tour the Royal Hampton Court Palace ( Definitely our favourite place of all! )

We all enjoyed Bushy Park- yes the deer are tame and literally 3 minutes walk from the appartment.

All the local hotels, pubs and restaurants made us very welcome and were child friendly. The terrace of the hotel by the river is stunning and we loved watching the swans whilst we had dinner. The shops over the bridge are great for browsing and full of quirky and interesting things. There is a fabulous home and garden shop on the apartment side of the bridge as well.

The river ferry to Kingston on Thames is a must do - we loved that!- Lots of "wow" houses along the river bank throughout the journey. Going by bus is easy to do too. Kingston on Thames was more pleasant for shopping than manic Oxford Street in London: loads of shops there within easy walking distance and a very pretty town.

Overall, I would recommend Wendy's apartment to anyone who is looking for a safe, pleasant and special holiday. As a single mum with 2 children I was worried about being on my own in London - we are from Aberdeen so do not know the area well. Hampton Court proved perfect for us as we had the best of both worlds - the excitement of the city of London and the beautiful tranquility and safe haven of the quieter Hampton Court. However, I would recommend the apartment to couples of all ages too. The service Wendy provides is outstanding.

We hope to be back again in the near future.

Owner's Response: Wow, Thank you Kim for such a lovely review. We love the apartment, and its unique position beside Hampton Court and the River Thames. Always something to watch! As we use the apartment ourselves when in London, we make sure it has all the little extras that you require when away from home. It is so nice that other people can experience the beautiful surroundings.
I do like to try to give a first class service, so I am really glad you appreciated it.
You are right, the boat trip to Kingston is great fun, and the shops are brilliant.
I am so glad you and the girls enjoyed your stay, and you are very welcome to visit again.

Take care, Wendy

My husband and I were looking for a rental for 21 days somewhere outside of central London. We found this property and it was such a blessing! It had everything we needed and the property is as seen in the photos. You can see the Thames river from our back patio. Train station is 2 min walk. Hampton court palace is across the road and all the shops and stores are a 4 min walk over the bridge. We had a wonderful stay and the owner was very nice and left us a card and wonderful flowers and strawberrys. This was a great expereince for us and we will definetly use this property again! Lovely and clean!!
A very modern interior in a beautiful old building- fantastically placed for hopping on the train to London as we did.
The neighbouring towns of Kingston and Richmond were beautiful and kept us busy for hours.
Right by Hampton Court Palace which was stunning, we loved exploring the gardens...and tea room!
The flat was also right by the river which made for really lovely eveing walks and the village of Hampton which is 5 mins walk away had a great selection of restaurants, food shops and take aways.
Bushy park was directly opposite, we took a very long walk through here and were amazed at how tame the deer are.
So much to do, you could really use this as a base to explore for weeks!!
The flat is so well placed for transport that you could do it all via foot, no hire car needed- a real bonus.
The interior was clean and modern- the shower was lovely! It had a nice patio overlooking the river and the bedding was clean and fresh.
The owners were friendly and helpful.
We would definitely visit again- Thank you!!
