The Galtress family who live next door are laid-back, friendly and helpful. 'Lassere' is very private and separate from their house with its own entrance and outside seating/ dining areas.The house is perfect for touring around the Pyrenees. It is a great base to come back to after hiking,rafting or sightseeing. It has been skilfully and tastefully renovated with many luxury touches and a modern feel. Everything in the kitchen etc. worked well. Living space inside the property is light and airy. The open plan kitchen, dining and lounge allow for a real feel of freedom and interaction. The pool is the best we have ever encountered at a gite.
Being surrounded by wonderful nature is a bonus and a welcome distraction for children. The geckos don't seem to mind sharing the bath! Watching the birds at sunrise and sunset is a true joy. The views of the mountains encourage you to get-up early and explore further afield. This is a beautiful part of France with many food specialities available in the fantastic local markets.
We found Boulogne-Sur Gesse the best for market day atmosphere and supplies. We would recommend this property to anyone wanting a quality/value home from home stay.

We have stayed in numerous Gites across France and this was the most peaceful, quiet and relaxed by far. Fantastic views, especially on clear days.

Good sized pool with the pool area being uncluttered, and as it isn't surrounded by trees, as some pools are, you aren't constantly removing leaves from the pool. The pool area would benefit from a little more shade for those who don't wish to be in the sun constantly but do wish to relax by the pool.

Facilities and decor in the Gite have been done to a high standard by Chris and Ali.

Overall a great place for those who are seeking to unwind and relax.

We had a lovely time at this beautiful house. We are seasoned renters and a lot of attention and thought has been put into making this an ideal base - carefully thought out and planned, and very well resourced. We had very mixed weather so in the same week managed to swelter by the much appreciated pool and also light the huge woodburner at night.
I can really recommend this house - slightly out of the really dramatic Pyrenees area but we still managed to have fantastic days out doing the Pic du Midi, the famous Cols 'Aspin and Tourmalet and the Cirque de Gavarnie. Wildlife to see all around including red squirrels, buzzards aplenty, hares in fields and deer in cornfields, and all to the sound of tinking bells on most things with 4 legs. A really lovely week in a lovely house.

This is a luxurious gite in a beautiful part of France. It works equally well if it's unseasonably chilly, with an efficient wood burner, fuel provided and English satellite TV (good for Wimbledon!), or sunny, with a beautiful pool a few steps from your terrace.
Ali and Chris are excellent hosts and keep the gite spotless and provided with the best information file we have ever seen. Ali is also a great cook and will provide delicious quiches at a very reasonable price.
Although joined to their property it is totally private with a barn at right angles in between the two houses. Sitting out on the terrace with a glass of wine and seeing the clouds turn pink over the Pyrenees is quite an experience.
If you like driving, walking (locally or in the mountains), peace and tranquillity this is an ideal home from home.

We have stayed in holiday homes all over Europe for many years, this gite is one of the best we have rented in all that time. It is beautifully renovated with style and character and yet has all the modern comforts needed to make a great holiday. The view from the terrace onto the mountains is wonderful. Christopher and his family are welcoming and charming, they really make you feel at home. If you are thinking of booking this holiday home - just do it - you will not regret it. We have no hesitation in recommending this magical house in an unspoiled, visually stunning area of France.

Chris and Ali have developed this farmhouse into a wonderful gite. The quality of the finishings and the layout are superb. Everything, and I mean everything, you will need whilst on holiday is available, right down to dishwasher tablets and washing powder for the washing machine. The kitchen has all the equipment you need and will remind you of home. Sky TV too.

The location is superb, if a little off the beaten track. Fantastic views across to the Pyreneean Mountains and the Pic du Midi is clearly visible on a sunny day as you drive into Lannemezan. Don't expect to be able to walk to restaurants in the evenings, there aren't any nearby. It is a 15 minute drive into Lannemezan, and 50 miles from Maubouguet. (The website classifies the gites location incorrectly, this is close to Lannemezan and Boulogne Sur Gesse, not Maubourguet)

Don't let that deter you because you will have a fantastic relaxing holiday here. The pool is great, surrounded by open fields and the wildlife is abundant. Swallows, birds of prey, foxes, chickens supplying fresh eggs, and the peacefulness is just so relaxing. One week, ifyou are driving down from Calais, is not long enough. We took two days to drive down and the same going back. Much more relaxing than the 14 hour 'bomb' down the autoroutes.

This is a very clean, well maintained property where nothing is too much trouble to the owners who live next door. They are there to help if you need it. Very inobtrusive, but oh so friendly and knowledgable. I cannot fault the service and quality of this property. Eat out on the patio areas and listen to the silence.

You need a car and do visit the Pic du Midi on a clear day. You really can see the curvature of the earth. We also had a brilliant day at Fabreges and the Train d'Artouste. A fanastic journey by cable car and mini train to a splendid lake and scenery to die for way up in the mountains. Yes, you will need to travel to see the Pyrenees up close and personal, maybe 1hr30mins by car, but it is worth it. See the route the Tour de France takes and I am sure you will agree that those cyclists are amazing sportsmen. The car journey up the mountain is stunning and steep, and they cycle up it!!!!

There are a number of local restaurants in Lannemezan that are very good value, especially at lunch time with the formula menus including wine.

All in all, this is a very enjoyable and relaxing place to holiday. Very highly recommended by us. We will certainly be back.
