Using Steinunn's description, the haouse was easy to find. It is located a little off the main road No. 1, so it is a good starting point for excursions without having traffic noise.

The house was clean and in a real good shape, we immediately felt like home.
We enjoyed the scenic mountain view as well as the vicinity to the shore.
Cokking in the well equipped kitchen was fun. We spent four nice and relaxing days here.

When we return to iceland one day, we certainly are going to visit this house again.

Visting Iceland for the first time is an interesting and extensive experience. But being guest in this perfectly equipped and charming little property was just as much a true highlight as meeting Steinunn and her family.

Steinunn & Fridrik helped make our first trip to Iceland a truly unforgettable experience; the property, it's location and their hospitality was simply superb!

The description of the property on this website was 100% accurate, the facilities were excellent, clean and the overall feel of the cottage was lovely and cosy. It was the perfect base from which to explore the wonders of Iceland.

I must also point out that the property owner, Steinunn, really went out of her way to ensure we had a great stay whilst we were there. For example, she provided excellent Google maps via email to not only help us find the house, but also to locate a budget supermarket on route so that we could stock up for the Christmas period. Steinunn and Fridrik also gave us an excellent overview of the facilities on arrival at Thorkelsgerdi, despite it being quite late at night. It was really very good of them, and greatly appreciated by us. And with it being Christmas, they kindly decorated the house with a festive tree and window lights. It was lovely.

My family, which consists of; my wife, 2 year old daughter and my parents-in-law all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Thorkelsgerdi, and we can't wait to come over again and enjoy more of what Iceland has to offer. Would I recommend this property to others? Oh yes! And to be honest, I have already been doing so! It was perfect in my eyes.

Oh, before I finish I'd like to quickly mention how much my daughter enjoyed the house, especially the toys! Since we've been back home she's asked on a number of occasions when she can go to our "Christmas house". She obviously enjoyed herself.

Thanks to Steinunn and Fridrik for making our first visit to Iceland to magical. We really are planning our next trip already! And to potential guests, you will absolutely fall in love with the place - it's perfect, go for it!

Wir verbrachten im Juli/August 2011 eine wunderware Zeit in diesem großartig ausgestatteten und sauberen Ferienhaus. Die Einrichtung ist eine Mischung aus wunderbar antiken und neuwertigen Möbeln. Das Haus liegt abseits der Hauptstrasse innerhalb einer kleine Siedlung. Ein Supermarkt ist ca. in 20 Minuten zu erreichen. Das Haus hat einen eigenen Strandzugang und ein wunderbares Aussengelände zum grillen und spielen für die Kinder. Ein Sandkasten und eine Schaukel sind vorhanden und auch das Spielzeug im Haus ist für alle Altersklassen geeignet.
Die Strandarkirkja ist einen kleine Fußmarsch entfert und ein Campingplatz und Kiosk ist in unmittelbarer Nähe. Der Campingplatz war auch zur Hochsaison wenig frequentiert und störte die Ruhe des Ortes in keiner Weise.
Die Besitzer sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit und Infomaterial liegt im Haus aus.
Das Haus ist ideal für Familien mit Kindern die Tagesausflüge in und um Reykjanes unternehmen wollen.
Wir werden gerne an diesen friedlichen Ort zurückkehren!

Am Strand lassen sich Robben und tausende von Seevögeln beobachten, phantastisches Licht zum photographieren!
