Mayan Ruins: There are hundreds of Mayan ruins around Quintana Roo, but these are the major sites, and they are all 40 mn to 3 hours dirve from your apartment.

Coba ruins are hidden away in the jungle. Coba was a large ancient Mayan city and much of it is unrestored. The ruins that are restored include the ball court and a large pyramid. Unspoiled, easy to get to, and uncrowded.

Tulum ruins are small but easy to get to from Cancun or Playa del Carmen. They are unique in being the only coastal Mayan ruin.

Chichen Itza ruins are the most famous of the Mexican Mayan ruins and definitely the most touristy and crowded. However, Chichen Itza is an impressive, mystical, inspiring place. Hundreds throng here every Spring and Fall equinox to watch the shadow snake ascend or descend the steps of the largest pyramid.

This 2 bedroom apartment in Playa del Carmen is your home abroad. Families love this condo because it is so spacious both kids and parents have their own space to relax. The master bedroom has a comfortable king size bed and a beautiful ocean view. Large sliding doors open to your private terrace with deck chairs, hammock and your own hot tub. You'll also have a full en suite bathroom. The other bedroom is on the second level. It also has a king size bed and an extra single bed. Sliding windows open up to a wonderful ocean view. This is the perfect space for the kids with a large cable TV, their own en suite full bathroom, and another two extra sofa beds in an adjacent living room. The kitchen area is equipped to make you feel at home and we’ll be happy to add any appliance that you need. Great small condo/hotel building right in the hear

Blue Pearl Suites is a great place to stay when you want to be just a block away from the beach and 5th Ave. We stayed in one of their 2 bedroom units with some of our good friends and loved the location. The hotel staff is great, Julio is the manager and he provided fantastic recommendations for places to visit and eat. The only potential downside depends upon your perspective. Its one block south of 12 Norte which is the corner with several clubs that play music into the early morning. With the windows closed and the A/C going it didn't bother us, and we liked the proximity to 5th and the beach, plus the clubs were fun for a couple of nights. Overall I'd highly recommend the Pearl. The roof top pool is quiet and a nice view of the ocean, and with only 8 unit in the bldg it was never busy. We plan on returning on our next trip.

Just Perfect!

What can I say that hasn't been said? This is one of the most beautiful, charming boutique/condo/hotels in Playa. We have been trying them all in the area and made 5 trips to Mexico last year. You will not find a friendlier, most accomodating staff! I made all of the reservations and transportation through Julio and he helped me WITH EVERY DETAIL. Even our airport transfers to his hotel. This place is immaculate. CLEAN! CLEAN! CLEAN! Yes, We did turn the air conditioner up one (weekend) night and it worked perfectly to drown out the faint sounds of the nightclubs down the street. No problem. We stayed in the off season and I believe we had the entire place to ourselves. Julio even went to the extreme and gave us the 2 br suite (#7 see pics) for 1 night! (It was our anniversary) The rooftop pool and view is unbeatable. We had it all to ourselves. One day we spent the entire afternoon just lounging in the sun with cocktails up there. I can't say enough about Blue Pearl ..it also played a part in us absolutely falling in love with this neighborhood. There is the beach 1/2 block away. Also, Zenzi, Wickey's (a bit pricey but it's vacation and it was fabulous) Indigo, and numerous beach bars/restaurants of all prices and dining options within walking distance. 5th Ave is a 1/2 block up the hill..I'm not sure how or why the person who only gave this 3*'s couldn't find acceptable dining?? NOT! THERE ARE HUNDREDS of places to eat. Also, it is worth mentioning because Americans especially seem to have the concept that ALL of Mexico is too dangerous and won't travel to Playa..ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I feel safer walking 5th Ave than most streets in the US..any day or night! This is a beautiful tourist area and they keep it that way. It is absolutely a different world here. You are also not going to have the Cancun experience here. :) yay. The people are just wonderful and accomodating. Julio and staff. I am so sorry it took me so long to post this...we love, love, love the blue pearl. See you again soon friends! Say hola to Carolyn and Carolyn who greeted us with smiles every day and the best food at the restaurant that is located just out front. Also, The Dirty Martini is next door and the staff is just awesome. We have been back since too and feel like family there too. :) Say hello to Karen & Meyssi for us. We can't wait to return! Well located, only 5 mins from the public beach. Apartment clean and tidy, bonus having a balcony which became a nice chill out place. Julio was extremely friendly and helpful, sorting out our needs with little hassle.

Spacious and bright, great location

Large rooms, very comfortable bed. Ask for a rear facing room [3] We were in no 5, Late night revellers in the local bars became annoying after 1 am, also, the dive shop had a horrendously noisy gas bottle delivery/collection daily. Rooms decorated using lots of natural stone and had a contempory feel. Jacuzzi is actually a huge stine tub [no jets] but very nice, sited on the terrace. Kitchen area was useful but v poorly equipped, we just about managed [by being inventive with what was there] as there was just the two of us. Roof top pool [shallow] and terrace very pleasant with sea views, not much used whilst we were there. I did find the windy, narrow staircase a bit worrying and dif to negotiate with baggage. Julio and staff very kind and helpful. We would go back.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Girls Getaway, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Romantic Getaway

Playa del Carmen is a very lively town, great fun at day and night time so we have been making some adjustments so you can be at the heart of town and have a good night sleep too. We have recently installed soundproof windows on the front of the building (condo 4 and 5), and even built some new walls that have also enhanced the security. The Dive shop that made noise in the morning has moved a block away :) ! Thank-you to this kind guest suggestion we have also updated the kitchen equipment and are especially attentive to any extra appliance that you may need. Julio, the manager is very attentive and will be very happy to make his best to make you feel at home and comfortable at all times. Fausto will be very happy to assits you with your luggage or any maintenance issue. We value privacy very much but we also aware that it´s great to have someone there to assist you especially in a foreing country. Julio knows Playa and around very well and his suggestions on day trips, restaurants, shopping are truly great. Our idea is that you find in our place your own home in Playa del Carmen and come back time and again to a wonderlful and relaxing vacation.
