Wonderful and spacious flat in Montmartre

5 of 5
Submitted: January 5, 2013 Stayed: December 2012
We (a family of 4) spent 6 wonderful days over New Year (2012/2013) at this flat. Francoise was a most responsive and helpful hostess, even if our communication had been entirely through email (except one phone call).
Location: The nearest metro stop is "Chateau Rouge". The neighborhood is lively and robust. Sacre Coeur is less than 10 min away by foot which means that we could walk there for the New Year Eve countdown and back easily without having to worry about late-night public transportation. Notre Dame, St. Michel and the Louvre all conveniently lie on the same metro line.
Premise: The flat is spacious and well equipped with satellite TV and wifi. We particularly enjoyed the large living room. The fact that there are 2 bathrooms made live much easier for us 4 ladies in the morning. We also cooked in often and saved plenty on food.
Service: We ran into some minor problems and informed Francoise via email. She immediately alerted the superintendent of the building who came to fix them right away. Due to flight delay, our arrival was past midnight. Francoise also arranged to have the superintendent wait up for us to make sure that we could get into the flat.
We had a wonderful stay in Paris, and I will not hesitate to recommend this flat to anyone.

A Real Retreat

Submitted: August 22, 2012 Stayed: July 2012
From the first contact with M. Francoise, this rental was a dream. She is genial and helpful, and her flat is precisely as described...only better. The small private garden was abloom in hydrangeas and begonias, and because the weather was delightfully cool and the windows were all open, the sounds of the water feature in the courtyard added to the restful feel of the stay. Our walks to and from the Metro were filled with interesting and unusual sights, sounds, and smells.

The kitchen was so well equipped that I lacked for nothing while prepping the dinners we ate in the flat. The washer and dryer were a godsend, as was the iron. There was plenty of seating for our crew. The beds were comfortable and everything was meticulously clean. Our one very minor complaint--that tiny shower already mentioned. None of us are very large or very tall folks, but it was a tight fit. The space and comfort of the en suite more than made up for it, though.

There's a wonderful African restaurant around the corner from the flat, too, called La Rencontre. Try the maffe, ndole, or gombo--all excellent choices!
We happily shopped not only at the SPAR across the street but at the Carrefour on Blvd. Barbés, as well as at the fruit and vegetable stands on Rue Poulet...all on the easy stroll home from the Chateau Rouge Metro stop. Our favorite boulangerie was just three blocks away (good ones on each block in between), and we ate pain au chocolate daily every morning for nine days, and never found any as good as we continued our travels!

Two weeks home, and I miss this delightful apartment and quarter! I would definitely stay there again if the hoped-for return trip comes true.

Perfect apartment

This is a lovely oasis of calm in the middle of a lively ethnic area of Paris. We found the apartment to be everything we had hoped for and exactly as shown in the photos. It was also perfectly clean and the handover by Mme Henrique was exactly as arranged. Having two bathrooms was essential as we were two couples and the beds were very comfortable. Paris was very warm and we were able to use the pretty outside area surrounded by flowers.

The two metro lines close by were obviously designed with our needs in mind as one went to the D'Orsay Museum (our first port of call) and the second went to the Gare du Nord (our last). We were very lucky as we were able to take advantage of the free entry to the D'Orsay and the Rodin Museums which happens on the first Sunday of each month. We walked from the apartment to Montmartre in ten minutes.

We found that the small supermarket directly opposite the apartment met our needs for a four night stay and we also used the boulangeries and fruit and veg stalls in the street.

Finally, praise and thanks to Francoise, the owner, for her very prompt replies to our e-mails and all the very useful information she forwarded to us concerning the flat and nearby restaurants etc. Our deposit cheque was returned to us within a few days of arriving back in England.

Excellent apartment in Paris

Submitted: June 18, 2012 Stayed: April 2011
I just noticed that for some reason we missed to leave a review for this lovely apartment! We spent there a week in April 2011 and it was a perfect vocation in terms of accommodation. The apartment is spacious, clean, well equipped and satisfies very well the needs of 2 families with two kids. The living room is spacious and nicely furnished, the bedrooms offer convenient beds; the kitchen is fully equipped with everything to prepare meals if you wish to eat inside, and the fact that there are two bathrooms is extremely convenient if you share the flat with friends and/or children. The area is somehow colorful, but safe in my point of view, and the metro is close. We really enjoyed our stay there, and I especially appreciated the fact that this kind of accommodation offered us the opportunity to feel “the real life” in Paris. We will use it again for sure.
Thank you, Francoise for your kindness and for the enjoyable stay!

Fab, clean, spacious Apartment

We spent three nights in this lovely apartment with our three teenagers. It was very spacious and very clean. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you could ever need. In fact, the whole apartment is very well equipped complete with iron and vacuum cleaner too. The bedrooms are of decent size and the en-suite was delightful. The shower room was a little on the small size so could be a bit of a squeeze for a larger person.
Every morning we went out to the delightful boulangeries and patterseries to buy our breakfast which were just a few doors down. There’s also a small supermarket across the road and a larger one up the road and around the corner. It's only 5 minutes walk to the Metro so is very convenient and easy to get to all the usual attractions. It is also very close to Monmartre. It was so lovely to come back to in the evening to relax a tiring day at the attractions.
We drove to Paris, so having our own secure parking beneath the building was very convenient and a great plus point. Would definitely stay there again.
Thank you Francoise and Mr and Mrs H for a very enjoyable stay :-)
p.s. I especially loved the huge long hallway. A bit of an indulgence coming from England ;-)

Quiet, comfortable and convenient

The description and photos of the apartment certainly do it justice. It's clean, roomy, comfortable, and well equipped. There's even a PC with internet in one of the bedrooms. It's nicely decorated, and the en-suite bathroom is beautiful, but the shower room could stand a bit of an upgrade and a little storage space. Our only complaint is that the double bed in one of the bedrooms is very narrow for two people.
Although located on a bustling street, the apartment is at the back of a secure building, so it's very quiet. Despite the heat wave during our stay in April, the place stayed cool. We really appreciated the terrace off the living room, which was full of lovely flowers.
We loved the location - a vibrant, interesting area - and found it very convenient. Metro stops serving three lines and street markets are close by, there's a supermarket across the street, specialty shops and restaurants in the area, and a short walk to the heart of Montmartre.
The owner was very pleasant and helpful, and promptly refunded our security deposit.
All in all a great apartment at a reasonable price!

Owner's Response: Thank you Christine from Norway, I have taken due notice of your comments about the flat. The main bedroom has a double bed 1m40 x 1m90 which is the norm in France but I have become aware now that in northern Europe standard beds are bigger than that ( 1m60 x 2m ) and when it is time to renew the bedding I will search for such a bed. In the next few months I will endeavour to find a suitable piece of furniture for the shower room more practical than the present one. My aim being always to give the kind of service that I hope to receive myself when I travel. Francoise.

The apartment was spacious, clean, well equipped and had a small patio to sit out on to eat 'el fresco'. Area was lively with good variety of tradtional french and ethnic shops. Plenty of restaraunts and cafes to eat and drink in. Paris as usual is expensive but if you look carefully you can find reasonable places to eat in. I would highly recommend the apartment and Francoise the owner who was helpful and refunded the breakage bond very promptly!!

Once again we have stayed in this flat which has everything you could wish. Just around the corner is a supermarket. and nearby you have two metro stations. Our friends came to France from Sweden and returned home to inform others about the wonderful flat. We wil certainly return to the flat next year

Great apartment - lovely stay

We stayed here for 3 days with friends in September 2010. We loved the apartment, it had everything we needed and was a lovely place to relax at the end of a busy sightseeing day. Security was good as was access to the metro. For a short walk we found plenty of restaurants, supermarkets and bakeries and the Sacred Coeur. We were also able to walk to the Lourve one day.
We were amazed at the ethnicity of the surrounding area - not something we in New Zealand were at all famiiar with. However we had no problems at all and enjoyed watching all the local happenings.
We had excellent contact with the owner from the time of booking and prior to arriving a list was available for local restaurants and shopping.
I would certainly recommend this property to others looking for a great place to stay in Paris.
