The best accommodation
I can recommend this apartment in the strongest possible terms. Prior to arriving, the family were very helpful with tips and advice and the greeting at the apartment was warm and friendly. A bit like visiting an uncle.
The apartment is very centrally located, just a few minutes walk to downtown, and is on a side street so is also quiet. Also being near to the metro station made it an easy base for getting around town. There's a supermarket around the corner, a nice chic restaurant 3 doors down, a few 'typical' style restaurants within a couple of minutes walk and several fruit and veg shops nearby run by English speaking people.
The apartment itself was spotlessly clean and immaculately maintained. The kitchen was stocked with essentials (olive oil, salt, herbs, coffee and tea, and there was even milk and juice in the fridge). The kitchen equipment had everything we needed, and everything was of good quality. The beds were comfortable and there were ample towels and such. The furniture was a nice mix of new and old, and made a comfortable atmosphere. The apartment has a lot of light, which gives a spacious feeling. We left the shutters down when we were out in the city, so it stayed quite cool.
I'm really struggling to find anything negative to write about this apartment. Okay, the tv only had half a dozen channels, but we weren't in Lisbon to watch television, and we could have watched tv via internet if we'd wanted to. Incidentally, wireless internet is not included in the apartment but there's a commercial provider that offers wireless access to the apartment, and which you can then use from your smartphone (almost) anywhere in the city.
With regard to Lisbon, there's a lot of life in this city. I'm usually not a big taker of photographs, but I took quite a few in Lisbon. What to do there? Well, there's a lot. The famous number 28 tram is quite a trip and leaves from just a short walk from the apartment. We enjoyed going to Belem in the day and to the bar and restaurant zone (Barria Alta?) at night.
Would I recommend this apartment? Absolutely! I have promised myself that I will return to Lisbon with my kids, and I will certainly stay there again.
