Casa Guamuchil, named for the tree at the house entrance, is a modest, Mexican-style home with two bedrooms and one bath and an additional outdoor shower. The house is two and a half blocks away from the main beach and two blocks from the village square. The surrounding garden includes mango, limon, bouganvillea, hibiscus and banana trees and it's a treat to enjoy from a hammock under the palapa. Iguanas are frequent visitors to the Guamuchil tree. Mexican tiles, furnishings and architectural details complete the experience. There are stairs to the ROOF DECK and PALAPA to allow you to enjoy a huge view of the mountains and town and a peak of the ocean, with your afternoon margaritas.

Maid service is twice per week. Additional service is available upon request with a minimal extra charge. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN BEACH TOWELS! Purified drinking water is provided. There are enough dishes, glassware and cooking utensils for four, in the simple, but functional kitchen. The kitchen has a microwave, blender and coffee maker.

The house is nice because it's close to town, yet up off the street (somewhat removed from the dust and noise) and has a pretty view. This works because it's on the side of a hill. Thus, there are around 40 steps up to the house. If you're limited physically, this house might prove challenging.

Your Sayulita experience in Casa Guamuchil will be simple, comfortable, and slow-paced. The house is perfect for two couples or a family of three or four. We hope to hear from you!

PLEASE NOTE: I include this disclaimer for those new to Sayulita that imagine resort-style accommodations: Keep in mind that Sayulita still retains a rural character. Many of the locals have roosters and dogs, which you will see and hear during your stay. In the late spring, summer and early fall it can be hot and some people prefer to have A/C, which we do NOT have. Our property manager is excellent and the house is lovely. However, if you are looking for sterility, you may prefer one of the resorts with full amenities closer to Puerto Vallarta. We love Sayulita because of its rural character, but not everyone feels the same way.

My daughters and I live in the Santa Cruz area of Northern California. We love Sayulita for it's perfect climate, warm water, great surf and laid back attitude. We are divers, surfers and sailors, and happy to be wherever the water and sun are warm!

Perfect rental

Casa Guamuchil was perfect for our five-day stay in Sayulita. We loved the location- a five minute's walk to the beach and even less to the town square. Still, from its perch on the hill, we felt we were in complete privacy and surrounded by nature. Our 2-year old daughter LOVED watching the countless iguanas and birds in the the big tree. A true nature preserve. Thanks Judy!

Perfect little place!

Just returned from a week in Sayulita, and our first time staying at this house. It was just me and a friend, and this house worked out just right. We didn't want anything too fancy and didn't want to spend a ton of money. The two bedrooms are spacious and there is plenty of closet and drawer space. The kitchen worked great- and we did eat at home at least once a day, if not more. The roof area was great for hanging out in the afternoons and evenings.

The location was perfect for us. It's so close to town and the beach- but it also worked great for walking to Playa de los Muertos along the road instead of the beach- as an alternative.

The price is great, the house is simple yet comfortable, the location is great.
Recommended for:  Girls Getaway, Tourists without a Car
