Tranquil, Tropical, Private. The Oliana Guesthouse is located in upscale Puna Beach Palisades across from Kehena Beach. Located just minutes away from Kalapana, Kapoho, warm ponds, and tidepools. You can hear the waves crash against the cliffs in the cottage and see the ocean from the driveway.

Sunlight and gentle tradewinds fill the charming studio Cottage at the Oliana Guesthouse.

It is a short hike down the cliff to the famous black sand clothes-optional Kehena beach. A five minute drive to Kalapana to the viewing area to see the lava flowing into the sea when it occurs. The Oliana Point seen in the spectacular coastal photo above is literally across the street. Swim with the dolphins or whale watch in season.

The Oliana Guesthouse is smoke-free, fragrance-free and pet-free for the comfort of those with allergies.

Standard Rates are $75/nt, $495/wk plus tax.

Two night minimum. One-night is available on request.

Special Off-Season Rates as low as $60/nt single, $70/nt (double) all-inclusive

The Cottage (studio w/bath) has a queen-size bed, separate bath with large indoor shower, and kitchen with microwave, toaster, 2-burner stove top, electric teakettle, coffeemaker and basic condiments..

The Cottage and the main house share a hot/cold outdoor shower and laundry service is available on request. All linens provided. Free wireless internet and free domestic (US, Canada, Mexico) long distance.

About owner

I built the Oliana Guesthouse as my home in 2004 with the second bedroom/bath as a cottage for visiting family and friends so that they could enjoy Hawaii and still have the privacy of being in their own space. I am the Founder and Director of the Indian Classical Music Circle of Hawaii, a non-profit community music organization that presents concerts and workshops. Photo was taken in Hilo last year. I am holding a tanpura, Parashuram Bhandari (sarangi), and Danny Birch (sarod).

Aloha Babette! We love this place - what a lovely guest cottage! So nice, clean, peaceful and relaxing. We slept well here despite of coquis and heavy rain in the night. The only minus is that we did not have time to stay longer here. Long travel but glad we came. Mahalo, Maaria & Tage

Thank yo for the relaxing beautiful respite. We look forward to our trips to Hawaii for the lifestyle. For a few days we live with just a couple of changes of clothing and just a few belongings. Seeing the sunrise or sunset, some simple meals and quiet moments. That is what we seek and that is what we enjoyed here. West outside looking at the starts both nights. Lovely area, good breakfast at Kalani.

Dear babette, Loved the yoga touch to your cottage. It was a joy to use my new travel mat here & practice with the song of the coqui frogs. Had a couple copies of Yoga Journal in my luggage but enjoyed your "Yoga Over 50" instead. Thanks for the lovely rainwater and the use of your Meyers and 7th Generation products. I always wanted to try these products and I got my chance here you're a woman after my own heart My husband surprised me with this trip for our 30th wedding anniversaryand my daughter said he took soooo much care to make it something I would love. Your good vibes must have been out there, how could we have known how perfect this place would be for me/us! Oh! Loved not having a TV, thank you. Love & Namaste, S+J, Utah

This was a great location if you want to be away from the crowds and walk on the lava fields. It was very reasonable, clean and perfect for our stay. We went on a lava hike and even roasted marshmallows with our guide. This cottage is off the beaten path and for the adventurous vacationer who wants to get to know the real Hawaii.

Recommended for: Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Sightseeing

We stayed 3 nights. The owner is gracious and helpful. With so much to do we mostly used the place to rest and sleep. It is in close driving distance to great snorkeling, beaches, walks to the lava flows, and many other great adventures in the Puna area. The cottage is a great value and had everything we needed. I would stay there again.

GREAT EXPERIENCE, GREAT PLACE TO STAY

Just would like to thank Babette for her kind hospitality.

We only stayed at the cottage for 2 nights, but our experience was great and very accommdating. We arrived very late the 1st night, and even though she was a sleep, we were able to get into the cottage and enjoy our first night.

The location is great and is close to Hilo and even a day trip to the Volcano National Park. Some other activites such as the LAva Hike and a trip into town is very close. It is a very scenic area for sure.

The place is very clean, private and cozy. Everything you need is availble to you such as fridge, utensils, microwave for your own food.

We would not hesitate to stay here again when we return to the Big Island Hilo area. Thanks again!
