A wonderful house of character indeed
We enjoyed a lovely 9-day stay in this charming house of character. It is exactly what it promised to be. Location is excellent, well-communicated and with a view to the bay from the beautiful master bed-room- which is really a queensize bedroom- a place not only to sleep but to enjoy and just be. The backyard garden, even in winter, was charming and welcoming.
We definitely and highly recommend this property to visitors of Malta- who will also feel welcomed and supported in all their needs by Carmen-the owner of this property.
We will definitely be back!

Exactly as described
This is an ideal house to stay for anyone who prefers somewhere a bit different from some of the soulless modern buildings that predominate in a lot of places. The house may seem a bit old-fashioned but it's nice to feel you're in a genuine Maltese house rather than an anonymous apartment. Josephine is a lovely lady and organised a taxi to collect us from the airport, welcoming us when we arrived. She provided us with a basket of essentials to tide us over until we could go and do some food shopping. The location of the house is good, quite quiet and close to the sea, with plenty of shops within a short walking distance and bus stops enabling travel all over the island nearby. We particularly enjoyed sitting in the garden for breakfast watching lizards playing in the sun.
The electricity is on a meter but a 10 euro card is included in the rental price and lasted our family of 4 all week despite the high cost of electricity on Malta, with most of it going on heating the water for showers. However, if you also wanted to watch a lot of television, leave all the lights on or have the electric heaters on for prolonged periods you'd have to purchase further cards. We didn't use the heaters very much although we might have benefitted if we had because the weather had been cold and wet prior to our arrival and the house did feel slightly damp when we arrived. When you have central heating at home you tend to forget that's what happens without it!
What made the stay for us was that it was a nice period house to be in, located in a relatively unspoiled area compared to some of the over-developed areas elsewhere on Malta (some of which are very easily accessible from the house if that's what lights your candle). Josephine was delightful and only lives across the road so is always available in the event of any problems.

We arrived after 1 o’clock in the morning because of flight times and driving from the airport. Josephine and Mary still waited up for us to arrive and had prepared a basket of provisions so we could make our own supper. They had also made up spare beds in the back room of the house as well as the bed in the main front bedroom in case the noise of the wind kept us awake – what thoughtful gestures.
The house is just as shown in the photographs and is in the heart of St Paul’s Bay, ideal for our needs. We felt welcomed and looked after and would recommend this house to anyone wanting to experience living in a traditional Maltese house while on holiday.

Fantastic Holidays!

We stayed in the house for two weeks and it was a fantastic holiday indeed! The house and the garden are really beautiful and you have everything you need. We were even a bit surprised because of the very comfortable mattresses, you usually don't find them in hotels or holiday homes. Carmen and Josephine are very welcoming and helpful with anything one could need. Everything is nearby: the beach, a minimarket, a bigger supermarket, restaurants, pubs, the busstation etc.
The transfer from and back to the airport worked perfectly.
The house is located at a perfect spot. Near the sea but nice and quiet. And it's only a 10 minutes walk to Buggiba, were most of the restaurants and bars are. When you walk to Buggiba along the sea, look left and up. There ist a little restaurant up the hill in the bend after the Gillieru hotel. It is calles Don Vito and is definetely worth a visit. They have the best stuffed bread we found on the island! And you have breathtaking view over the little harbour.
We hope to be able to come back soon and wish everyone a fantastic summer!

A gem of a find!
Thank you Josephine and Carmen for allowing us to stay in your wonderful house. It was perfect, full of character, spotless and really comfortable. The garden is relaxing and the lemon tree provided us with lemon slices for our drinks. Perfect!
Everything we needed was there and the location quiet but only 10 minutes away from the bustle of the bars and restaurants.
Hopefully we will be back!

Great Location
If you want all mod cons, power showers & air con, then this property is not for you. If however you appreciate the original features, quirks and all, then you'll love it. We were a party of 8 on a girls getaway, and thoroughly enjoyed our week in St Pauls Bay. The house is literally 2 mins from the bay, mini mart 2 doors up and bar's & restaurants within an easy walk (5-10 mins), but without the noise of staying in the middle of the nightlife. We didn't get best use of the outdoor area as, despite bug sprays/coils etc, we seemed to get eaten by midges whenever we stepped outdoors; this despite Carmen's best advice on what products to buy!

Thank you for your warm welcome- and for bread and ham and cheese and milk. Just what we needed after our journey from Denmark.
We like this old house and the garden, though the weather wasn't at its best.
We need to return as we haven't seen all we wanted to see. We never reached Gozo.
So we will be back another time!
