Our Children never left the pool...even when it rained!
The kitchen is well stocked with all mod cons, Bedrooms are comfortable and large, the scenery is fabulous and the location offers many fantastic walks.

Unforgettable holiday

Franks Dublin, Ireland
Review Submitted: March 4, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2007
We have had 3 wonderful holidays at Langlade, staying in both the houses at different times in June and September. The houses are perfect for a family holiday; home from home and offer every convenience including cots and high chairs, washing machines, dishwasher etc. The properties are very well maintained and are spotlessly clean. There are 2 swimming pools which are meticulously kept and well secured with gates, which suited our little toddler. Each property has a BBQ area outside which we was brilliant for dining on the patio areas, in the evenings while junior was in bed.

Carol and Frank are very welcoming and will provide helpful guide and tips on getting around/ local tourism and restaurants. In particular, Frank will organise a table for you at local Chateau which is offers superb food at unbelievable good value (compared to Dublin!). Book in advance as Chateau is busy in high season.

The rolling countryside is beautiful and ideal for walking and you can stop off at small villages for a farmhouse lunch - a taste of real French country living. Frank will lend you bicycles if you want to cycle around the area.

Aubetere is a lovely village about 10 minutes drive away and has a number of good restaurants. There is a great atmosphere in the town square on Saturdays and Sundays when some of the restaurants set up table and chairs outside. On each holiday we spent a day in St Emilion which is only an hour away by car – and is not to be missed. Similarly, Cognac and Bordeaux are also close enough for the day trips. There is also a market on Fridays in Riberac (15 minutes drive) with a really good selection of local foods for picnics and BBQs.

We highly recommend this location and properties for an unforgettable holiday and look forward ourselves to returning during 2008.

We have had several fantastic family holidays at Langlade staying in both the houses at different times. Both the houses are extremely well maintained and had everything you would need for a restful holiday. The property was very clean and the grounds were well looked, after having a swimming pool was an extra bonus. Frankand Carol are very good hosts and on hand to give any help they can to make your holiday enjoyable. We found plently to do in the surrounding area, visits to local markets Chalis or Riberac or further afield. Plenty of walks nearby especially after harvest, there are numerous restaurants one of our favourites was at the chateau and the pub down the road has lovely pizzas. The properties are close to supermarkets other shop with Angouleme is only 40 mins away and Bordeaux is about 80 min by car. The first time we stayed at Langlade the children were 14 and 11 years, last year they were with us and they were 24 and 21 and there was still plenty for them to do.

Too good to miss....

Having enjoyed stays in both properties with my young family, I thoroughly recommend this as an ideal location to sample the best of French rural life.
The properties are maintained to a high standard, and the welcome afforded by Frank and Carole is warm and sincere, but at all times discreet.
For those travelling with young children, I especially commend the excellent fencing and gate systems which surround both pools, making for a relaxing stay with your water babies!
We have recommended this spot to many of our friends, and indeed must emphasise its suitablilty for use by a group of friends or family who may wish to book both properties as we did in order to get exclusive use of all the amenities.
So whether you want a spot of kayaking on the nearby river, a picnic among the sunflowers, a romantic dinner, a family get-together, a country stroll or just a complete chill-out - this is the place for you!
Enjoy!

La Petite Anglade

Review Submitted: February 9, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2007
We used the property for a family holiday with our son and daughter and partners. The setting is superb with breathtaking views over the surrounding countryside (such a shame we were slightly too early to get the full impact of the field of sunflowers close by.) Our weather was mixed but the pool (which was scrupulously clean) was used whenever possible. Nothing was too much trouble for the property owners who live close by- an excellent holiday in an immaculate house with every amenity.

A great place to stay

Surrounded by fields of sunflowers the setting is truely fanatastic. Modern and well equipped our property was spacious, clean and well equipped and presented. The swimming pool was only yards away and the BBQ on the rear terrace made for many a pleasant evening. The owners live on site and are very friendly and only too willing to share with you their knowledge of the local area. For fresh produce and a truely French shopping experience try the Monday farmers market in nearby Chalais less than a 10 minute drive away. Wine lovers must visit St Emilion and for those with more expensive tastes Cognac is only an hour away by car. Our accommodation was much better than other rentals we have stayed in previously and I would have no hesitation in recommmending it to anyone seeking a truely relaxing holiday in rural France.

My wife and two young children ages 4 and 1 spent a very happy week in the Villa Anglade in summer 2007. The accomodation was first class and very clean and well maintained. The hospitality and welcome struck a perfect balance -the hosts were very helpful but also allowed us plenty of space to enjoy the property. The area was interesting and there is plenty to see and do but a car is essential. I would definitely recommend Anglade to a friend.

L'anglade is a perfect oasis in delightful rolling countryside.I can personally recommend the properties, having stayed in both of them. They are of a high standard and offer a home to home exprience. The gardens and swimming pools add to the ambience and relaxed setting.
Your hosts Carol and Frank are most welcoming and helpful with the local tourism.
The properties are ideally situated for visiting St Emilion,Cognac and Bordeaux as well as a wealth of local historical sites.

Ideal Family holiday

Blondi Dublin
Review Submitted: February 6, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2007
Our large family has enjoyed this wonderful setting in the Charente as our ideal holiday location for the last six years. The properties are maintained to the highest standards and the owners are friendly and provide first class customer service. All of the usual necessities for a family holiday are close by, restaurants etc. But what sets this place apart from others we tried, is the fun to be had poolside and the peacefulness of the secluded location.

Langade Montboyer Charante France

HC Dublin
Review Submitted: February 6, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2007
The description of the properties if anyhing understated the amenities which are superb. The houses are pefect for a relaxing holiday and each has its own unique character.

The properties are very well maintained and were spotlessly clean. Equally so the two swimming pools which were cleaned every morning at dawn by the owners!

The owners Frank and Carol were perfect hosts who were unobtrusive yet more than happy to fill us in on the location of good local restaurants (of which there are many), shops and local places of interest.

The houses are well within striking distance of Bordeaux city and the main wine areas. Access is good with La Rochelle not too far awar and Bordeaux airport an easy drive.

We could not find fault with the experience and I would highly recommend the houses to either a couple of families who like to eat well and party a bit at nights or the romantic couple who want to get away from it all and work on the tans.
