Kailua Kona House Rental Photos and Description
House, 3 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

The Hula Hut is really much more than a hut. It's a private, 3 bedroom, 2 bath home located exactly 1-mile south of Kailua-Kona town. Decorated in a fun, relaxed, island-style funkiness, this home comfortably accommodates up to 6 people in a tropical living style. It's an easy walk to town where you can enjoy your morning coffee or a sunset cocktail at Huggo's on the Rocks or shop at the open-air farmer's market in downtown Kona.

Enjoy the spectacular sunsets or explore the many tidepools on the lava shelf landing at the end of our private street. Commercial dive boats are often spotted here, rumor has it that some of the best diving on the island is right here! Relax by your own private pool and swim with the turtles! Take in the ocean view while lounging on the large lanai, cooled by the trade breezes.

The house is situated on one level, has 3 bedrooms, each with a Queen-sized bed and air-conditioning, and a full-size futon on the expansive wrap-around lanai (complete with beautiful ocean view!,) 2 bathrooms, each with a tub-shower. Hardwood floors throughout and ceiling fans in the common living spaces. High Speed wireless internet access. Fully equipped kitchen, linens provided. Pick your own mangos for your breakfast or a tropical cocktail, from our 2 Huge Hayden mango trees.

The perfect place to watch your tri-athlete run by!

We love The Hula Hut

Our family of 7 spent 5 weeks in the Hula Hut over the Christmas and New Years holidays. This spacious property is uniquely decorated in what I would call "1950's tropical" with pastel colors, wall masks, and large, comfortable, bamboo furniture. The wrap around lanai offered wonderful views of the ocean, an extra sleeping space for my daughter, and let in the cool breezes to refresh us all. The kitchen was well equipped, the best of any place that I have ever rented anywhere. The proximity to town was perfect for a morning stroll to the market (1 1/4 miles each way) for fresh fruits and veggies for the day. The backyard is beautifully landscaped and the swimming pool was a real plus for my 2 1/2 year old granddaughter. The only drawback was the traffic noise from Alii Drive at night, when trying to sleep, but it didn't take long for us all to get used to that. My daughter simply turned on the room air conditioner and the white noise drowned it all out.
The Hula Hut is a "work in progress" as the owner told me, so don't expect a modern, new feeling when you see her and when you walk in. There are plans to paint the exterior and rebuild the aging back stairwell, which will really spiff her up.
The owner was a delight to work with, and when we told her that there was no BBQ grill, as we had expected, she went out and bought us a new one.
We would all happily return to the Hula Hut and highly recommend it to anyone who is not the, brand, new condo type. If you like character in your surroundings and space to move around in, this is your place.

This house was great. Big pool. Nice screened porch allows living outside in Hawaii. Spacious bedrooms. Light and airy living rooms. This is a charming place to enjoy Hawaii with family or friends. The beach offers great sunsets every evening, beach access is only a few minutes walk. Old town Kona is close so no need to drive after dinner and night life. Thanks for sharing your house!
