Our magical vacation in Bergrose Challet

Guy&Adi Israel
Review Submitted: November 15, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
My girlfriend and I rented this lovely challet for a week's vacation.
The view is breathtaking and the town is lovely!
The challet is completely equipped for all your needs.
We had everything we could possibly want, and it was comfortable to cook in, rest in and propose in! (yes, yes, on the porch... remember the magnificent view?)
Everything in the challet is of the highest quality, including the customer service we received from the owner :-)
In the end, we did NOT want to leave the challet and would gladly go back there one day!
Thank you for a dream vacation!
Owner's Response: Its nice to know that the apartment and views were so romantic that our guests to the decision to get married whilst there ! It was a pleasure to have such charming guests and we wish them every success for the future !!!!
We seem to be having an increasing number of Honeymoons and Wedding Anniversaries as well. Its such a priviledge for us that those having such special moments choose to be in Chalet Bergrose for them.

We stayed in Wengen for 10 days. The apartment was absolutely superrb, clean, well maintained - eveything you need.
5mns frpm station anda well stocked Coop store. Wengen is a great base for exploring this area.
I'd thoroughly recommend this place + you get good communication and service from the owner.

Nothing to fault
Owner's Response: We pride ourselves on the top quality service and surroundings we give our guests, hopefully giving you a home from home in the Swiss Alps.

Chalet Bergrose in the Summer

world walker Devon, UK
Review Submitted: August 9, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
We booked Chalet Bergrose for 2 weeks in the Summer, for 5 people. Although it has only 2 bedrooms, the sofa bed was extremely comfortable for the fifth person, a teenage boy.
The Chalet was as advertised - 5 star. The fixtures, fittings and appliances were good quality. Walls were adorned with interesting art works. Little additions, like a good pair of binoculars and an arrival gift in the fridge, were appreciated.
The owner took the trouble to phone on the second day to ensure everything was as it should be.
Wengen itself is growing, with new building spreading down the hillside. The views across the Lauterbrunnen valley to the opposite mountain, and down into the valley itself, are impressive. Although Chalet Bergrose has established itself in a niche some way up the hill, there is still a short and fairly steep walk to town. The town itself has many restaurants, but the dip in the £ against the swiss franc has made them seem a bit expensive. The option to eat in (or on the balcony watching the Jungfrau redden in the setting sun) saved money and gave us the chance to sample breads, cheeses and other locally bought food. Wengen has a very good bakers and cheese shop.
Most of us like walking and there are many well signposted tracks, of varying length, in and around Wengen. The scenery is spectacular, with the snow capped Jungfrau, Eiger and Monch usually in sight, and there was usually the option to return by cable car or train if we walked too far.
We had rail tickets that allowed us unlimited travel on the Swiss rail network, so were able to use Wengen as a base for wider travel. Actually, it's not ideal for this as there are 2 changes of train before reaching a station big enough to directly connect to more distant and interesting destinations, but Swiss trains are punctual and connections quickly avaialable. We were able to breakfast in Wengen, lunch in Italy and get back to Wengen for dinner.
Having been out for the day, and frequently tired, the Chalet apartment was a pleasure to come back to and, after a few days, it felt as if we were returning home!
I would recommend Chalet Bergrose for anyone wanting to combine a relaxed summer environment with hiking and exploring this beautiful part of the world, or, indeed, for anyone who just wanted to put their feet up for a week or two as the apartments' amenities and location provide the ideal environment.
Owner's Response: The walking, especially when the weather is good is stunning, around Wengen area is a World Heritage area. In fact when it is raining and with storms its is just as impressive as when its sunny.

Wonderful apartment in beautiful Wengen

ArkansasTravelers Little Rock, Arkansas, USA
Review Submitted: July 15, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
The Bergrose apartment was perfect for 2 couples. It is quiet and conveniently located in our favorite Swiss village of Wengen, with easy access to many glorious hikes in the Bernese Oberland. Stunning views from the balcony, and excellent fit and finish inside, with wood and tile floors, excellent appliances, great beds and bedding, really good windows, 2-person whirlpool bath and excellent shower in the other bath. The British landlord is responsive and easy to deal with.

We hiked from Grutschalp to Murren (Winteregg is 1/2 way, with a local cheese shop and restaurant/patio with great views, and a good place for lunch or a snack; from Allmendhubel to Murren (don't miss the Sonnenberg Pension for goulasch suppe); from Mannlichen to Kleine Scheidigg. We hiked in the morning and stopped at the Eigerwand restaurant for lunch just before reaching Kleine Scheidigg -- very good; from First to Bussalp, with a picnic at the stunning Bachalpsee (you need to be in good physical condition for this one). A cold beer at Bussalp while waiting for the bus back to Grindelwald was welcome and well-earned. Trummelbach Falls is not to be missed, and the home-made kuchen at the restaurant is worth a trip in its own right. In Wengen, go to the Chas Gruebi cheese shop. The owner will steer you right, and she even has an electric raclette unit that she'll rent you for 5chf. Plug it in on the deck back at Bergrose and make your own Swiss dinner in the shadow of the Jungfrau. Piz Gloria at the top of the Schilthorn offers an excellent champagne buffet breakfast -- go on a clear day -- and it's worth the trip.

You could not vacation in a more beautiful location or a nicer chalet apartment.

Highly recommended

FANTASTIC STAY AT CHALET BERGROSE

The Guinmiester lincolnshire
Review Submitted: May 30, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
We booked Chalet Bergrose after seeing the Chalet on the website. It surpassed our expections-the chalet is stunning and the views are to die for. The owners attention to detail is what makes the apartment so special.
Wengen is ideally situated for trips to the Jungfrau and the Shilthorn- Trummelbach Falls too is well worth a vist.
We would certainly recommend the Chalet to our friends and family and are already planning our next visit.
Our 8 year old summed it up in one word- HEAVEN !
Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your kind words. Its nice to know that even with all the information and photos on Holiday Rentals when you actually arrive at the apartment it still exceeds your expectations. We try to make the apartment really special for all our guests, a home from home. Chris

Fabulous Stay at Chalet Bergrose

Emerald_Isle Dublin, Ireland
Review Submitted: May 25, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
We spent 5 nights at Chalet Bergrose and thoroughly enjoyed it. The apartment was perfect for our family (4 adults & 2.5 year old toddler). It contains everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable and confortable. The jacuzzi and the high tech shower were a real treat! The views were absolutely stunning and the weather was very nice during our visit in early May. We would definitely return to Chalet Bergrose in the future if our travel plans take us back to Wengen.
Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind comments. It isnt only the winter and summer seasons that are good in Wengen, the millions of spring flowers in the meadows and the waterfalls at full power as the winter snows melt are also well worth seeing, and the weather can be great as well !

We had a great time, the apartment is beautiful and very nice with all the extras. My family was there in September 2007, wonderful time of year. Great views, furnishings and easy walking to town and train station....to sum it up in one word. Perfect!
Owner's Response: It is very rewarding for us to have guests travel from so far away and really enjoy the apartment. Thank you.
