Family vacation

Review Submitted: February 10, 2009 Date of Stay: February 2009
We stayed a week at the rumrunner and we absolutely loved it.
Our family consisted of My wife and I our 3 kids and my in-laws.
The villa had all we needed and then some.We cooked out some nights on the patio and the provided bbq, the restaurants were a stone drop away. I recommend the rental of a golfcart to maximize your vacation time. The villa was extrodinary clean and well maintained with all the amenities. The beach was excellent and the community pool was tranquil and quiet.Overall one of the best vacations we have had with the whole family.
Owner's Response: Thank you.
Pool complex is a great alterative to the beach.
Hope to see you next year.

Rumrunner Villa

Review Submitted: July 28, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We were very happy with out stay at Rumrunner Villa. The Villa had everthing we needed and was very well maintened. It was very peacfull and enjoyed sitting out on the patio in the morning and evening enjoying the view. The beach at Jolly Harbour was gorgeous, our girls also enjoyed collecting shells at the smaller beach at NorthFinger. We would recommend getting a car to go around the Island and a good map as alot of roads are not sign posted, but the local people are very friendly and helpfull. There were some breath taking views and beautifull beaches and for the more adventureous the rainforest zip line. We would certainly recommend Rumrunner to our friends and family.
Owner's Response: I am glad you found the villa well maintained, our housekeeper works hard to keep the place looking good.
I have heard good reviews of the zip line from other guests, it is on my "to do" list

We want to go back!

Review Submitted: April 1, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
We spent a week at Rumrunner 21-28 March 09 and it wasn't long enough! We were 4 girls sharing so it was plenty big enough, though I wouldn't want to stay in the downstairs room! The villa is in a great location, close enough to everywhere but far enough away to not be noisy! There's something special about showering on the patio too! We tried to find something it didn't have, and apart from the corkscrew that had broken - we just couldn't! Very well equipped and even the music was good! A few of our fave things: Yacht club bar on the marina / bartering with the locals over sunloungers / the Aloe Vera man on Turners beach / Trappas restaurant in English Harbour and the sailing boat we chartered from English Harvour through Joe at Antigua Real Estate - The Ivy. 4 out of 4 of us wanted to stay longer and we will be back to stay - when we can get the parents to look after the kids we left behind!
Owner's Response: Yes the bunk room is small, but we do mention that it is best suited for kids.
Sorry about the corkscrew. It is a challenge to find one that can withstand the heavy use that it gets at Rumrunner !!
But please come and stay again.

Rumrunner, Jolly Harbour, Antigua

Review Submitted: March 10, 2009 Date of Stay: February 2009
Excellent property, very comfortable and very well equiped. Owners very helpful and had provided many extras, good well equiped kitchen, good air conditioning. Nice rear patio area overlooking harbour provides a very relaxing area with large gas BBQ if required. Quite a walk to the shops so car (or golf buggy) essential. Would reccommend a car as the charms of Jolly Harbour wear thin very quickly! Very busy restauranuts providing average food at above average prices. Car required to visit excellent beaches nearby for great snorkelling. Half Moon bay beach was our favourite. A must is Shirley Heights on Sunday night v.good steel band, BBQ etc. Quite hard to find good local food as most restaurants cater for mainly American tastes .

Wonderful Holiday

Review Submitted: January 26, 2009 Date of Stay: January 2009
We cannot believe that our holiday in Antigua is already over. We had a wonderful time. "Rumrunner" is a lovely, comfortable villa in a stunning location and we felt immediately at home. We would certainly have no hesitation in recommending the villa to our friends and family. JoAnn and your Canadian and English neighbours were very friendly and helpful.

We hired a golf cart for most of our stay. This was invaluable for getting around Jolly Harbour and great fun too! A bus ride into St. John's is a real experience as was the boat trip to Barbuda - both 'white knuckle' rides!

Hiring a car (4 x 4) for a few days proved very successful and allowed us to see most of island's highlights.

We fell in love with Antigua and have returned to the UK with hundreds of photographs, video footage and lots of wonderful memories to keep us going until, hopefully, we can go back.
Owner's Response: So pleased to hear that your holiday was all you hoped it would be.We are lucky to have such good neighbours.
Hope you will be back again next year.

This was my 2nd year staying at the Rumrunner, although this year myself and a buddy split our time between Antigua and Montserrat. Two totally different places but a great combo. Rumrunner seems to be very well looked after, very clean and nicely updated with new bathrooms and fully equiped kitchen. Spent most days on the amazing white sand beach and the evenings drinking (to much) while playing pool and darts with the locals at the Dog Watch Pub. Best night of our trip was Sunday night up at Shirley Heights, need to taxi to get there but it is well worth the trip. Also a must do while you are down there is the circumnavigation (boooze cruise) around the island, a GREAT day! Renting a golf cart was the best way to get around Jolly Harbour, but make sure you look out for the speed bumps and security gards at night!! Awesome vacation, definatly will be back to Rumrummer!!
Owner's Response: Pleased to hear you enjoyed another visit to Rumrunner, and that your stay on Montserrat was a success.
You are correct, the two destinations make a great combination.

I have absolutly no complaints about our stay at Rumrunner, Jolly Harbour. The villa is emaculate, spotless and all applicances are new. The views from the jetty are stunning and the deck gets the sun nearly all day long.
The villa is idealy located in Jolly Harbour which has it's own onsite ammenties and is also a short taxi/car ride to the captital of St Johns. Jolly Beach is fabulous, crystal clear waters and soft white sand. All in all I would recommend staying here to each and everyone. The only advice I would give is that you hire a golf buggy to get around the harbour if you are not going to hire a car. We hired one and for a very reasonable rate and it made getting about much quicker and easier.
