Excellent home away from home in Valencia

I've just come back from a 5 night holiday in Valencia and I have to say that the accomodation was excellent. It is just 15 minutes or so away from the airport by metro and even quicker to get to by cab.

The apartment is within walking distance of Plaza del Ayuntamiento and Plaza de la Reina and the closest metro station (Angel Guimera) gives you direct access to the beaches/port and the airport. There is a supermarket very close by (5 mins by foot) and Mercado Central is also accessible if you want fresh produce. Finally, the apartment is situated close to Calle Juan Llorens, which has several late night bars/disco bars.

The apartment is clean and spacious and fully equipped (there is even a DVD player). It has air conditioning, which is must for Valencia in the summer.

Lastly, the owner was very welcoming and friendly and gave useful information on what to see and do while in the city. I would certainly recommend this apartment to friends!
Owner's Response: Many thanks for your kind commendations.

I would like to think that my apartment is well situated for enjoying the most out of this enchanting city with the utmost of ease coupled with the proximity of excellent public transport connections to enjoy its great beaches etc.

We had a group of four and enjoyed the Abastos apartment tremendously. It was spacious and had everything we needed. It is in a great location - close to everything yet far enough away to be quiet. Thank you.
Owner's Response: Thankyou.
The location is indeed one of the city's prime central residential barrios.with most of the best amenities including excellent cheap and very efficient public transport links so conveniently close to hand.

We have stayed at this apartment both before and after having our daughter. On both counts it's a terrific place to stay. Well kitted with everything that you could need. Owner was very helpful with cot etc and gave lots of advice on where to buy nappies etc.
The metro means airport to apartment in 20 mins! Central enough to walk to many places - but also in a "spanish" area, so not bumping into tourists all the time.
Owner's Response: Great recommendation ...thanks.

The perfect apartment

I booked this apartment for a few nights as a base whilst we explored Valencia and went to La Tomatina but we probably ended up staying in the apartment more than we went out because it was THAT cosy. :)

Right from the start, from corresponding with the owner, to finding the apartment, to staying in the apartment to leaving the apartment, the whole experience was a breeze. It is exactly as it described in its description if not more, given that you can't see how comfortable the place actually is from a photo. I was part of a group of girls and it had everything that we needed and we felt at home. David, the owner, was more than helpful with recommendation for eating establishments and other invaluable advice that only a 'local' could give.

Valencia is a beautiful city that really must be visited and the Abastos apartment is the perfect place to stay whilst you do. It's not right in the centre of things but it's not a big city and the apartment is central enough to be able to walk to most places. The metro station is only a few minutes away anyway and is one of the most convenient stations, with a direct line to the airport and the beach. A taxi to most place only cost 6/7€ from here too (15€ for the airport).

I have recommended this property for a girls getaway since that is what we used it for but I thoroughly recommend it to anyone requiring a property of this size. We felt safe walking the surrounding streets and the nearest supermarket was only a few minutes away, which was very convenient when it came to stocking the fridge with necessities and snacks!

I hope this was helpful and if you do decide to go Valencia, I hope you have a lovely time as we did.

'Great convenienent location and very comfortable and now you have the new direct metro for the beach/Americas cup and the airport it couldn't be easier or cheaper. I will definately be recommending your apartment to friends back in New Zealand' Peter Gilchrist, New Zealand April 2007
'Hi back again. Looking forward to checking out one of Valencia's best tapas restaurant's (nearby).Your apartment is great value and I'll be back again next year - make sure I'm pencilled in'' John McParland Feb 2007 On business at the Ferias, Valencia City.
'Great location, really comfortable and suits us perfectly for everything here in Valencia. So much so that we have bought an apt in the same building.' Toby and Diane London, forth visit in last twelve months, Sept 2007.

gute Lage, aber leider nicht korrekte Ausschreibun

Review Submitted: June 23, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009

We have been 4 persons. In the appartement was no pool and also no clothes dryer. a clotheline was outside of the building. it rained in april and we had no chance to dry our clothes. the tender is not correctly.
Owner's Response: In response to your complaints.

The apartment is listed (under U.K version site) as being opposite an excellent municipal pool AbastosMercado 1 mins walk away - two in fact one for children the other for adults in addition to Turkish baths, Gyms etc. It would be unusual to find a pool within an apartment block in such a central location and far less so for the modest tariffs I offer.
There are various optons for drying of clothes 1/rooftop terrace 2/ outside window drier 3/ indoors foldaway drier.
Although Valencia is generally warm and sunny nearly all year round - rain is welcomed.! However when it rains here early and late season it can be torrential. They have a name 'Gota frias' ie; heavy rains. That's what makes Valencia verdant and lush compared to other southern Med' cities - rather delightful in fact -although more so when rainfall over.
Rather a shame to have feedback without any mention or appreciation made for finding this guest a German speaking Doctor for her student daughter she was visiting.
In addition I always make sure that the guests' have contact tel numbers for any assistance they might have or any problems or queries whilst staying at my apartment. Not one call was made. Just a request for extra discount at the end of their stay and this by her daughter (no irony here!) The discount requested was for no other justifiable reason then a tenuous mention of lesser people staying in the apartment than originally requested.
Additionally after their stay I had to respond to requests for 150€ reclaims for no substanciated reasons other then the guest could not turn on either the reverse cycle air-con units or the full gas central heating system. (Despite all operative and maintained accordingly) This apartment has all user manuals for guests on the premises. Normally a text/tel call suffices to resolve such issues. .

A nearby 2/3 star hotel located on a noisy 5 lane road charges 75€ per night ( Easter rates are additional - ) for a double bedroom only - offering far lesser facilities. I offered my apartment at just 72€ per night for four people inc' Easter friday with no exta charges. Not bad value for whats on offer....in Spain's 3rd City.
The tariff rate is 18€ a night per person for a bed in a dormitory in a hostel in this city. I know what I would prefer.....
