A great find!

We (four adults) were absolutely thrilled with this home and found it even better than advertised! The house is surrounded by a large, beautiful and very private yard. There is a lovely patio just outside the kitchen where it's possible to relax in the sun or do a bit of bird watching. A deck off the living room looks out over the expansive yard. The house is a very short walk to the village and the patisserie, charcuterie, small grocery stores, and restaurants. The garage, off the narrow street, is adjacent to the security gate which opens to a stone path through the yard to the house. In addition to the comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms, there were lovely eating spaces, indoors and out, places for conversation or quiet reading, a wonderful library, and a well-supplied kitchen. We were thrilled to discover the rich history and culture of Bougival and the surrounding towns and forests. The Impressionist movement began just a short distance from Bougival at a floating cafe, La Grenouillere. That cafe (no longer in existence) was featured in famous paintings by Monet, Renoir and Van Gogh. Walking through Bougival and Louveciennes, a neighboring town, we discovered location after location featured in paintings by the 19th century impressionists as well as the homes of impressionist painter, Berte Morisot and writer, Anais Nin and the studio of Renoir. We walked among redwoods on the grounds of Madame Barry in Louveciennes (stopping for a wonderful lunch at the restaurant). We spent an entire day at the Vide Grenier of Bougival (a huge all-village flea market); marveled at the beautiful forest behind both Bougival and Louvecienne; took the train into Paris to visit museums, restaurants, and shops; walked through the gardens of Versailles; took day trips to Chartres, Amiens, Beauvais and the lovely flowered villages of Picardy and Normandy. After each adventure, it was wonderful to return home to Claude and Pascal's beautiful house, to reflect on what we had seen and done, to enjoy a wonderful evening meal and plan for the next day. Claude couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. We would love to return to the house and certainly will recommend it to family and friends.
Owner's Response: Thank you very much ! I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay in Bougival. You or people you love are always welcome here. Claude HAINIGUE.
