Photos and Description of the Cannaregio vacation apartment rental
On the ground floor of a Venetian palace (XVII century), the whole property has been completely restructured (September 2007). Apartment with 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom with shower and WC, living area with open plan built-in kitchen and a private courtyard. It is ideal for 4 people but it can accommodate up to 6. It is located in the heart of the city, in a quiet neighbourhood of Santa Croce, 5 minutes away from the famous Pont Rialto

We loved Venice. It was one of our favourite places in Italy. We stayed 3 nights.
First the positive: The flat is located in a great location close to a lovely square, where there is a great pastry shop, restaurants and grocery store. It is also close the the Ste. Stae boat station.
The negative: I was somewhat confused as Mathieu was very kind and helpful during the booking process. The flat looked like like it did in the pictures but with a couple of differences.....it was UNCLEAN and CLUTTERED. I get the feeling he does not live there and does not understand the state it is in. The kitchen stove vent had oil dripping. I had to wipe it so it would not get in our food. The sponge I used to clean it with was dirty, no clean ones to be found. The pretty lights you see in the photo are covered in dust. The cutlery tray is dirty. The bathroom is really bad. It is moldy and damp and chunks of plaster fell into my open make up bag. There is no fan in bathroom. Light bulbs are missing in the bathroom and through out the flat. The main bedroom closet was cluttered and dirty. Old dirty slippers and stuff from previous guests had been left behind. The "private courtyard" was disappointing. It was not somewhere you could sit and enjoy a glass of wine. There was laundry (sheets) hung up the whole time we were there. It also at times smelled of sewer.
The confusing part for us was you could see there was a great deal of time and money put into the design and fixtures and the kitchen which were all lovely, but it did not matter because it was so dirty and dusty and cluttered with things that should not be there. Old paint cans, old suitcase, boxes of appliances, etc.
I think there was also a problem with the apartment getting wet. It felt damp and the bathroom paint is peeling.
It was tolerable because we only stayed for 3 nights and the location was very nice. I would have been even more disappointed and angry had we been booked to stay longer. It was also somewhat insulting. I would never have a guest in my home in that state if they were staying for free let alone travelling and paying.
If you like rising damp and mold this place is for you.

L'appartement n'était pas dans un état de propreté, le rideau de douche est moisi, la peinture au dessus des toilettes vous tombe dessus, et le linge est resté toute la semaine pendu au fond de la cour.
Je ne sais pas si vous êtes au courrant que la fenêtre du séjour donnant sur la cour ne s'ouvre pas et que le monant est cassé.
Nous avons également été déçu par la cour commune et la proximité avec le studio. Dommage du manque de précision peut être très bien pour deux familles et amis. Difficile d'ouvrir la fenêtre de la salle de bains qui donne directement sur la porte fenêtre des voisins.
Il ne manque pas grand chose pour que le séjour soit parfait, le quartier est très sympa, mais l'appartement demande un peu d'entretien. Dommage le propriétaire est très sympa mais pas sure qu'il soit au courant de l'état de son appartement.

Owner's Response: Comme pour l'appréciation précédente la femme de ménage qui avait remplacé celle du reste de l'année ne sera plus jamais employée.
Concernant la fenêtre et la salle de bain les travaux sont programmés en novembre, merci de votre retour d'information.
Enfin concernant la cour elle est d'usage exclusif de l'appartement.

Logement conforme à l'annonce dans l'aménagement et parfaitement situé au coeur de Venise dans un quartier calme. Nous avons juste regretté d'être contraint de faire le ménage en arrivant. Etat général de l'appartement: Passable.

Owner's Response: Ma femme de ménage était partie 2 semaines en vacances et celle qui l'a remplacée ne m'a pas donné satisfaction. Je ne la reconduirai donc plus, ainsi cela ne pourra pas se reproduire. Ceci explique la différence d'appréciation avec les hôtes de juillet.

Appartement très bien équipé, parfait pour découvrir Venise, pratique, situé dans un quartier sympa sans la foule de la place St Marc. Etre dans Venise est un avantage très appréciable pour profiter tranquillement des ruelles le matin et en fin de journée. Nous avons pu assister à la fête du Redentore le 3ème week end de juillet et admirer un feu d'artifice inoubliable dans une ambiance très vénitienne. Le propriétaire répond facilement à nos questions

Propriétaire très sympathique et disponible. Appartement très bien situé: proche commerces, restaurants, transport et lieux touristiques. Quartier calme. Appartement confortable, silencieux, bonne literie. A conseiller.

Nous avons passé cinq très bonnes journées dans cet appartement confortable et très calme . Il y a tout ce qu'il faut et on peut aller faire ses courses, manger dans un petit resto délicieux (la zucca) tout près, et la station de vaporetto est toute proche. Quartier sympa. Les lits sont très bons, les oreillers aussi ! C'est un peu sombre, mais vraiment compensé par tout le reste . Nous y reviendrons.

Ce fut un vrai plaisir de séjourner dans cet appartement : très bien équipé, confortable et, surtout, parfaitement situé : des petits commerces non loin pour le ravitaillement, de bonnes adresses laissées par le propriétaire, l'arrêt de vaporetto à deux pas : tout était parfait !
