Photos and Description of the EUR vacation apartment rental
3 rooms, 2 bathrooms, two-storied apartment sleeps 9, floor area = 115 m²

CasalFattoria is an early XX-century farmhouse, strategically located between Rome's downtown and country, just 8 miles to the city centre, set in a large well-kept gated garden, with parking and children's play area inside, on top of a quiet and breezy hill, which is now fully restored and transformed into modern flats. Our property is an attractive two-storied apartment, completely renovated and refurnished by a team of young roman architects, which reflects the owner's passion and style. Luxury, comfort and design are its main features throughout: beautiful stone and wooden floors, lavish marble bathrooms, chestnut wooden beams on the ceilings, a picturesque fireplace, a private internal staircase and top-class fixtures, fittings, furniture and equipments. Each room has a distinctive flair merging harmoniously into a charming, cozy retreat. Charm and design, luxury and leisure are waiting for you just a few minutes away from the heart of the Eternal City!

There is not enough room here to fully describe our stay at Stefano's wonderful home. The trip and all the new friends we made will not be forgotten. Thank You Stefano and hope to see you again.

This beautiful Rome apartment had everything we needed for a perfect week! Although out in the country, it was very easy to get to the center of Rome using public transportation. The setting is lovely, and the accommodations were perfect. A wonderful market is very close by, and the kitchen facilities were great for cooking in several meals. The beds are comfy, the baths are lovely, the countryside just spectacular. We would recommend this as a great alternative to pricey hotels.

This is a very special apartment. The interior architecture is lovely and very natural. There is plenty of space outside for the kids to run around and its proximity to Rome central and many other locations is fantastic.

We loved staying here and the kindnesss shown by Stefano and Gabriel was impressive.

We will be back, if only to go to the wonderful beaches at Fregene.

Excellent and convenient place in Rome

This is an excellent place to stay in the Rome vicinity as it is so convenient to the grocery and train station. We were a group of 7 people and everyone had their own beds and the place really caters to that. The grocery store down the hill is very convenient and offers a great variety of supplies that you need while the Laurentina train station (Last stop of the A line) is only a couple miles away where you can drive to and pay minimal parking or take the bus from the property. I don't recommend driving in Rome as I really couldn't see where one would park a vehicle, especially a van. The train is really the best way to get around and you can get a daily unlimited pass for only 6 Euros.

The house itself is very comfortable and the owner emails you an excellent document before the arrival which tells you everything you need about the house and the area. The free wifi was a great bonus as well. Two full bathrooms (1 on the main floor and the other on the 2nd floor) is nice and it has a washer and dryer and soap and fabric softener is included. The kitchen is well equipped and there are actually some spices and other supplies that I make up were left overs from previous renters. The house is an old transformed farm house and is very quiet. Love that it felt very remote yet only less than a mile from everything you needed. Don't forget to visit the open market on Laurentina - only 1-2 miles away from the property.

I will definitely stay at this place again and I highly recommend it especially for families!

Christmas stay at CasalFattoria

4 of 5
Submitted: January 4, 2013 Stayed: December 2012
Our family of four stayed at CaselFattoria for our two week Christmas holiday and enjoyed our time exploring Rome. We chose this location due to its reasonable price and its rural setting knowing that we would have to trade off some daily travel time. It only took a few trips on bus 797 or 044 and then the metro to get our bearings and then it was easy to plan our days. As our Lonely Planet guide book took us to the best sights and places to eat (a must to find original restaurants), we walked off the extra calories and were awed by the layers of history. Stefano and his brother Gabriel were quick to assist us when asked, and the villa gave us the space and comforts we needed. While we'd recommend a coat of paint to freshen it up, it had all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. The all-inclusive price is great when you have teenagers using the internet and you have to turn up the heat! In the mornings you can pet the cats and dog on your way to the bus and feel like a resident as you bring back your groceries and wine for the evening meal.

The apartment has a great kitchen and the wifi works great. The beds are comfortable. You need a car to get around as there is no shopping within walking distance. Best coffee maker we had on the trip!!
Stefano and Gabrielle were very helpful and accommodating and Stefano returned my deposit immediately!!
The towels and linens were very plush and there were enough of them. The washer and dryer were great.
The stairwell to the apartment is occupied by the neighbor's cat and she is very friendly; however, the approach in has a musty smell. I have mentioned it to Stefano and I am sure it will be resolved by the time you visit.
Our family would definitely stay here again.
Thanks Stefano.
Owner's Response: Kristi, so many thanks for your so honest and great review, even if it's the first one (on 13, unlucky number!) me to score only 4/5 stars. You're perfectly right about the cat's issue, and I'm very sorry: it's actually the first time I have this problem, and it's probably due to the cat's old age (17 years). Anyway, I spoke with my neighbour friend owning the cat: she definitely understood, and since now she's keeping her pet steadily in her own apartment, without any further problems for me and my future guests. So, I'm already waiting to welcome you for your next stay! Ciao, yours Stefano

Wonderful country setting very close to Rome

My husband, our 7-year-old son and I returned a couple of weeks ago from our trip to Rome. It was one of the most delightful vacations we've had, and a big part of it was our home-away-from-home at Casalfattoria. The apartment is in one of 3 or 4 buildings on site, all spaced widely apart on lovely, open grounds. The apartment itself was clean and well-maintained, with comfortable beds and furnishings, and everything we needed to have good meals there in the mornings and the evenings. We would have breakfast there, drive up to the metro, head into Rome and spend the day in the city, then head out around supper time, pop into the grocery store on the way home from the metro to get supplies for dinner and then have a nice simple meal at home in the evening. It was an ideal situation with our young son, as it gave him time to wind down from the day in the city before getting ready for bed. It was nice for us too, being in the country where it's peaceful and relaxing, but still very close to the city.

Getting to the center of Rome from the property took about 50 minutes, including driving to the metro, parking, and catching the train. And I understand there are a couple of bus stops you can walk to from the property to get into the city as well, but we didn't use them. We took a couple of day trips into the countryside and it was very easy, as we didn't have to fight city traffic to get on our way. Also, it was an easy 1/2-hour drive to the airport. We made use of the laundry facilities in the apartment, and it was great because we were able to halve the amount of clothes we were bringing, so there was lots of space for bringing home things we picked up in Italy. Gabriele and Stefano were both wonderful and charming and very helpful, answering any questions we had and giving us lots of good information on getting around and providing their phone numbers to call if there was anything else we needed (there wasn't, but it was good to know they were there). We had a great stay and would definitely recommend the property. We plan to stay there again ourselves next time we head out to Rome.

Lived up to all our expectations and more!

We spent a long, long time choosing which house to rent in Rome. We have rented many houses abroad and know how careful you have to be when choosing. This was the only house we found in all our searches that had excellent reviews throughout and no negative comments. Was this to good to be true? Not at all! Stefano's house was absolutely perfect. The pictures on the web sites are very realistic but make the property look smaller, if anything, than it actually is. It is equipped to a very high standard and we found everything we needed and more. The beds are very comfortable and the wonderful Italian shutters block out the light so well that sleeping in is much easier! The garden area and views are stunning - a real treat to wake up to in the morning. The neighbours are friendly but do not intrude so you feel immediately at home and welcome.

Our party was made up of two adults, two 17 year olds and two 13 year olds. Everyone loved the house and would like to go back. There was room around the table for great mealtimes and lively and enthusiastic games of cards but equally enough space in the house to allow everyone to have some time out.

The location is perfect for travelling. Very easy to get to and from either airport (Stefano's directions are very clear and foolproof). We went to the local beach at Ostia and also travelled further a field to Sperlonga (worth the drive as it's breathtaking, particularly the less commercial beach on the south of the harbour which you may have to ask directions to otherwise it's difficult to find). Getting into Rome is very easy. A short drive to the Metro then 20 minutes on the very frequent and reliable tube. We often came home late at night and always found it safe, quick and easy.

The booking, payment and administration were very easy and Stefano and his brother Gabriele were every bit as charming as the other reviews say. In fact, we were late arriving due to delayed flights and Stefano guided us around town in his car trying to find somewhere to eat, he also sent us very helpful details of where to watch live football (two teenage boys!!) and was most helpful in every respect.

Thanks again for a wonderful week.

The location was just right. Very quick drive to Laurentina Metro stop, with cheap all day parking. Can go anywhere in Rome Centro that you want. Was so nice to have plenty of space and room for the 2 year old to run around. The stairs in the Apartment are not kid friendly, but not a deal breaker. There is a steep stair case to get the apartment. We cooked breakfast and dinner every day for a week, saved a lot of money, plenty of grocery options along the daily route to the metro. The kitchen was nice, the oven was hard to figure out if your not used to European spec, I had to look up a manuel online. Take advantage of the washer/dryer to cut down on luggage. Took a day trip to Anzio/Nettuno and the beach, only 30 mins south from the house, was a nice excursion. Stefano and his brother were great, very nice. Will definitely be back, and with friends.

Hiden gem outside of Rome

I recently stayed there last year in November with a group of friends, we automatically felt safe and at home, Mr. Leoni greeted us with keys in hand and vital information about the villa and local surroundings. The villa itself is very plush and up to date but still with an old world feeling. It was very easy for 4 adults to share the living space without being on top of each other. It's location is ideal for first time tourist that need or want access to the metro system, which will deliver you to the heart of Rome within 15 mins. If you are looking for clean and a prime location this is the place for you. I woud not hesitate on staying there again and look forward to my next Roman adventure!
