Photos and Description of the Kinsale vacation apartment rental
Kinsale studio. Self-catering,1 bedroom,1 bathroom. Private and good value.

This is a very private studio apartment in Kinsale with its own entrance, patio and parking area, wireless broadband and satellite multichannel TV.

. It is attached to the owners house, but completely separate, in a peaceful location in a large, quiet garden with no traffic noise.

An easy walk to Kinsale town centre with all its cafes and restaurants (10-12 minutes). We are just twenty minutes drive from Cork airport and thirty minutes from the ferry port.

The studio is an ideal base for a holiday in Kinsale with its angling, sailing and golf, or just to relax. Convenient for day trips to explore West Cork and Kerry.

Comfortable self catering with well equipped kitchen area and a very good shower.

The studio is available for a long winter let at reasonable rent.

The owner is a professional TEFL teacher - lessons at our Kinsale School of English are available by arrangement (see website or Facebook).

Golf Information: Kinsale Golf Club (00353 21 4772199) has 18 and 9 hole courses, both about two miles away. Twenty minutes away is the world top-100, Old Head Course (00353 21 4778444) and half an hour to the east is Fota Island (4883710). Other courses are at Killarney, Glengariff, Bantry, Skibbereen, Blarney, etc.

This site: www.lookaroundireland.com/scenicinteractive/kinsale.htm has a lot of links and also some local history and discriptions of the town.

See also www. kinsale.ie

Both Acton's Hotel and the Carlton Hotel have swimming pools and gym facilities that can be used by visitors.

Day trips: Kinsale is an ideal base for visiting many of the special places in Cork and Kerry. By car, Blarney is about 40 minutes, Killarney about 90, Fota 35 minutes, Glandore 60. Baltimore, Schull and Bantry are about 75 minutes.

Dingle is an OK drive for a full day's touring - we recently drove there, climbed Mount Brandon, had a swim and drove back in an easy enough day.

A trip to Skellig Michael is highly recommended and within the scope of a day trip.

Sea angling day trips and evening whale watching are available from Kinsale pier.

great little place

This was a great little place to stay. Privacy was not a problem at all like you might think being connected to the main house. But you're not over their heads so you don't have to worry about waking them or making noise when staying up late. And it was pretty great being able to walk into town for anything and everything we needed.

We just arrived home from our stay at The Orchard and we miss it already!

It's a ten minute walk to town where there are multiple grocery stores on Pearse St but then there are many smaller health food stores tucked away on the more narrow streets.

We walked most of our days in Kinsale rather than drive and if you walk to James Fort, or drive, there's a great little green food truck before the bridge. And we actually had our best burger and chips from that gentleman. We didn't eat out too much, since the apartment has everything you need to make your own meals, but there are many nice places to eat in town. We enjoyed Ned Kelly's Bar for late night bar food which was delicious.

Things we enjoyed in the area:

Charles Fort ***** (long walk, short drive)
James Fort ** (long walk, short drive)
Kinsale Heritage Walk **** (starts at the tourist office in town)
Barryscourt Castle ***** ( 35 - 45 minute drive - free)
Fota **** (very close to Barryscourt - free entrance into Gardens and Arboretum)
Blarney Castle ** (35 minute drive)
Desmond Castle *** (short walk)
Garretstown Beach *** (15 minute drive)
Sandy Cove walk *** (10 minute drive to parking, long walking loop to beautiful views and an old abandoned fishing village)
Rock of Cashel ***** (1.5 hour drive but only about an hour from Cork Airport)
Cahir Castle ***** (on your way to or from Rock of Cashel)
The Swiss Cottage * (long/moderate walk from Cahir Castle or 5 minute drive)

Overall, we definitely recommend this little haven if you're staying in Kinsale. It so much nicer than a hotel, you can settle in and feel at home. Everything you need is there for a wonderful stay. Our one and only upset was that while the two twin beds were pushed together for us, there wasn't a way to avoid the good-size gap between them, so we sometimes squished together on one of the beds. But that's our only complaint, we'd definitely go back in a heartbeat.

Feel like you are home with friends. Helen and Graham go out of their way to provide you a quiet, peaceful setting with the privacy you want with the friendliness and helpfulness you enjoy.

The studio is close enough to town so you don't require a car. Walk to Super Valu for food, Church, Farmers Market, shopping, many pubs and restaurants. Sunday supper is an event. Many opportunities to run, walk, or hike. Sailing is a favourite.

Take the walking history tour, visit Charles Fort, enjoy the beautiful Kinsale Bay, and don't miss the Wine Museum. What's a Wine Gypsy?

Thanks Helen and Graham. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Fantastic Holiday Apartment

We had high expectations of for this apartment and I'm pleased to say they were exceeded. The apartment is well equiped and well maintained and we were received warmly by the owners. The bathroom and kitchen facilities are very good. Plenty room for safe parking. The location is fantastic, very quiet and peaceful but only a short walk to the centre of Kinsale.

Kinsale itsself is a welcoming and charming place. The quality of the restaurants we ate in was second to none. I can recommend Max's for for great seafood and a varied menu and Jim Edwards for top quality fish and meat.

The apartment is a great base for an Irish Holiday. We were able to explore the town and travel to cork quickly and easily. I highly recommend it.

Thank you Helen and Graham!

Wonderful little home away from home

The studio was even nicer than I'd anticipated. It's priced right and I thought it might be simpler, but, while small, the space is very well used - even provided a Foreman grill as well as a small charcoal grill for our use.

The studio was very clean and ready for us. We arrived on our first day in Ireland, after cycling from Cork Airport (not to be recommended), and Helen provided just enough (even salad makings from her garden) so we could get by until morning and a shopping trip to town (Super Valu is right downtown).

The studio is definitely uphill from town, but is very walkable (harder with a fully loaded bike). It's in a very nice neighborhood - quite upscale, actually.

We did go to town one night for music, but it was a weekend night on a sunny weekend, and it was very busy and just didn't seem to fit for us (we should have asked for advice, but didn't do that).

We also went to Cork City one day - an easy trip on the bus, which brings you right into the center of Cork - a good day trip. We cycled to the forts - another nice day trip (a bit too busy on the roads - a very sunny Sunday).

This was a great place to start our six weeks in Ireland - a place to relax, but close enough to town for anything you might want to do.

Kinsale accomodation

Good, basic ammenities. Clean and tidy. Very nice locality. Bit of a haul up the hill when walking but not too tough. Owners welcoming and keep a friendly distance to allow you freedom, but on hand to answer any queries.
We had a wonderful stay and appreciated the garden for a pre dinner drink. The area is splendid with many walks and drives to local beaches which were so romantic and calm. There are many places to visit within a half days drive. I rate the accomodation highly and the overall area as well. The best holiday by far for many a year.
