Chez Beaugis

Review Submitted: August 2, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We had a great time. It was like home from home with full wireless signal and English telly! My parents thought the cottage was very stylish. We loved the pet cats and dog. We were also able to use their bikes. We would love to go back.
Owner's Response: Thank you girls so much for taking the time to send us such a lovely reveiw.
It is so rewarding for us when the whole family enjoys our holiday home. We have tried to cater for all ages, and when you get such a lovely review from teenagers, we feel that we have got the balance right and we will keep working to maintain it.
We would love to welcome you all back in the furture.

Very good, comfortable accommodation in peaceful

Very good, comfortable accommodation in peaceful, countryside, only 3kms from Chassenuil. Excellent restoration, with great attention to detail. Ken and Lynne's warm welcome, and starter pack of groceries were really appreciated, as was the provision of useful information, including places/markets to visit and local dining recommendations.
We felt very comfortable, relaxed and cosy in Chez Beaugis - would happily return, and are delighted to recommend.

One of the best holidays

I stayed at Chez Beaugis with 2 children and 2 adults, the cottage was amazing (the UK TV went down well with the children) the pool was perfect as was the grounds, the dog and cats were an added bonus which kept my 4 year old happy for hours (a dog is now on her Christmas list!). Ken and Lynn and lovely and so helpful, after a long drive to get there we were met with a lovely basket of food including the all important bottle of wine, which went down very well. The town centre which is a 5 min drive has everything you need including a lovely pizza restaurant, there is a lovely play ground to keep the kids occupied in before going to the supermarket, the supermarket has everything you could need, just keep an eye out for the opening and closing times as most of the shops tend to close at 7pm. We can’t wait to go back.

Simply The Best

Review Submitted: August 31, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We have stayed in a number of gites over the years and this was simply the best. Fantastic to arrive hot & tired and have cold beer & wine as part of the welcome pack! Gite was superbly equipped & cool in hot weather. Lynn & Ken very helpful & hospitable. Beautiful location, lovely gardenwith lots of sun & shade, great to relax in the pool watching butterflies on the buddleia. Excellent restaurants & well stocked supermarkets nearby & amazing pain au raisin at local patisserie. We all had a wonderful, relaxing holiday and hope to return.

Superb Holiday Cottage

As soon as we arrived we knew we had found a lovely cottage. We received a very warm welcome from Lynn and Ken, they are the perfect hosts.Everything was just as it said it would be.

Ideal location for touring the area. Golf de la Preze (great golf course) is about 20 minutes away. Brantome is also worth a visit especially on a Friday when the market is in full swing.

Can't wait until our next visit in October. Definetly one to recommend.

Superb Holiday Cottage

Thank you for delivering everything your promised in the website. Everything was exactly as Lynn and Ken described, the cottage excellent and very nicely presented with a very warm welcome.

Charente is a lovely, quiet area with plenty of places to visit to keep the family (including 3 teenagers) happy and within easy reach of the ports.

We will have no hesitation in returning when our stress levels overload once again.

Thankyou

Steven, Jo and Family

A super relaxing holiday

Review Submitted: June 30, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
From the moment we arrived at Chez Beaugis Ken and Lyn made us so welcome. Their lovely cottage and the welcome pack was everything and more than we could hope for, it was very much appreciated. So very well equipped for a glorious two weeks in the sunshine.

We spent a couple of very happy evenings in their company and will be returning as soon as possible to enjoy their great kindness and relax in such a lovely cottage and surroundings which we are already missing very much.
Owner's Response: We are so lucky to live in a place like this, so it is a pleasure to share it with our guests. We have always enjoyed our holidays, so it is really rewarding to help others enjoy theirs. We are looking forward to welcoming June & John back soon.

"The perfect French retreat"

content English family Portsmouth, Hants, England
Review Submitted: September 15, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
We arrived at the property late Saturday afternoon and were greeted with lovely smiles, and a super "welcome pack" including cheese, bread, butter, jam etc. and of course a much needed bottle of local wine. This set the scene for us. All to often when you arrive you can be left to your own devices. Lynn & Ken, as seasoned visitors to France themselves, know the things that will help you to relax and settle in. There are plenty of guides and maps in the cupboard if you want sightseeing. Or the pool and delightful scenery that surrounds you, if you just want to relax and chill out.

The renovated cottage looks perfect in the picture and even better in real life, with 3 good sized bedrooms, one en-suite, and a further wetroom and seperate cloakroom. The open plan living room/kitchen dining means it is a very sociable space. Also If you cant bear to miss Coronation Street there's cable TV, and for the kids (or workaholics!!) there's even wireless internet access.

Although off the beaten track, and transport is recommended, it is ideally placed to travel to some lovely places including Limoges (1 hour), Cognac (30-40 mins), Futuroscope (75 mins), The lakes are a comfortable 25 mins away and the lovely Chateau at La Rochefourcauld is about 15mins (although its closed on Tuesday as we found out!!). The Brasserie in the high street serves great local food and wine, in lovely surroundings, especially the garden, but limited for vegetarians (bit like most of France really!!!!)
The walk into town is 30-40 minutes. However the taxi back is a reasonable €10, and the taxi driver even got out and shook our hands, we were so impressed!

We would have no hesitation in returning, and look forward to another evening watching the stars and drinking copious amounts of wine - a perfect French summers evening by anyone's standards - our thanks to Ken & Lynn

perfect holiday cottage

macker Dublin,Ireland
Review Submitted: August 7, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
We spent 3 brilliant weeks in this lovely Charente cottage. On arrival Lyn & Ken had supplied a welcome package,we have been to previous houses and the welcome packages have been very small, only supplying tea, coffee, milk, bread and wine, but when we entered the house Lyn & Ken had left the fridge with enough food to make yourself a meal.
We have two young children and they both thoroughly enjoyed themselves here, especially Lily the cat and the plunge pool was definitely a hit.
We would recommend going to "the monkey valley" and to the Chateau in Rocherfauld. There is lots to do,all within easy reach of the cottage.
We were all very sad leaving and look forward to our return. Both Lyn & Ken were very nice and helpful without been intrusive.
Thanks a Mil!

Our Perfect Family Holiday.

Review Submitted: August 3, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
We had a perfect holiday at Chez Beaugis. The cottage was just as described on the website and even more. There was a warm welcome and a lovely welcome basket of the essentials which was so thoughtful. Inside was immaculate and so beautiful and to a high standard. We have a family of 1 young child and two nearly teenage girls and everyone loved it. The plunge pool was a big hit for everyone especially the girls.

There is alot to do around the surrounding area, we went horse riding, adenture parks, outside swimming, kayaking and even a little shopping at the french market. We didnt have time to do everything as we were only there for a week but yes we will definately be going there again. Thanks to Lynn and Kenneth for everything.
