"The perfect French retreat"

We arrived at the property late Saturday afternoon and were greeted with lovely smiles, and a super "welcome pack" including cheese, bread, butter, jam etc. and of course a much needed bottle of local wine. This set the scene for us. All to often when you arrive you can be left to your own devices. Lynn & Ken, as seasoned visitors to France themselves, know the things that will help you to relax and settle in. There are plenty of guides and maps in the cupboard if you want sightseeing. Or the pool and delightful scenery that surrounds you, if you just want to relax and chill out.
The renovated cottage looks perfect in the picture and even better in real life, with 3 good sized bedrooms, one en-suite, and a further wetroom and seperate cloakroom. The open plan living room/kitchen dining means it is a very sociable space. Also If you cant bear to miss Coronation Street there's cable TV, and for the kids (or workaholics!!) there's even wireless internet access.
Although off the beaten track, and transport is recommended, it is ideally placed to travel to some lovely places including Limoges (1 hour), Cognac (30-40 mins), Futuroscope (75 mins), The lakes are a comfortable 25 mins away and the lovely Chateau at La Rochefourcauld is about 15mins (although its closed on Tuesday as we found out!!). The Brasserie in the high street serves great local food and wine, in lovely surroundings, especially the garden, but limited for vegetarians (bit like most of France really!!!!)
The walk into town is 30-40 minutes. However the taxi back is a reasonable €10, and the taxi driver even got out and shook our hands, we were so impressed!
We would have no hesitation in returning, and look forward to another evening watching the stars and drinking copious amounts of wine - a perfect French summers evening by anyone's standards - our thanks to Ken & Lynn
