Apartment, 3 Bedrooms + Loft + Den, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 6-10)

This very spacious elegant 200 square meter(2152.8 square feet) apartment is located on the first floor of a 17th century building in the historical centre of Florence. The apartment is able to sleep 10 people, but for maximum comfort the it is best suited for 3 different couples or 6 adults with 4 children. It is composed of a 15 square meter(161 square feet) entrance hallway which leads you into a beautiful painstakingly decorated 60 square meter(645 square feet) living room/dining room with ethnic combined traditional Florentine furniture, at the same time maintaining a relaxed atmosphere. There are four large cathedral windows, 2.4 meters(7.8 feet) high with 5 meter(16.5 feet) ceilings which allows alot of light into the room. The living room also has air conditioning and winter heating.

It has been painted in a rich warm yellow surrounded by the contrasting brown and extensive African art. The last bedroom, master bedroom, has a king size bed and a loft study above with a sofa-bed. All the bedrooms have air conditioning/winter heating . There are three bathrooms of which one has a whirlpool tub while the other has a steam shower cabin with jet shower heads while the other has just a regular shower cabin. The utility room has a washing machine and dryer.

The location is superb, the apartment is in the Heart of Old Florence. You could not get more central than this. It is on via Ghibellina next to the Barghello National Museum and, in front of the Palazzo Borghese the street is between the Duomo (main cathedral) and the Palazzo Vecchio (the old palace). There are numerous restaurants and one of the most highly rated restaurant and wine cellars in Europe, the Enoteca Di Pinchiori it is a block and a half away from the apartment on the same via Ghibellina. Spacious Fully Loaded Apartment

My family and I stayed here for a week and were so happy to have found such a nice apartment. It was spacious, tastefully decorated, clean, filled with light, and fully loaded with everything you would need to prepare a meal. The bathrooms were beautifully tiled, too. This apartment was also located right above one of the best casual Tuscan restaurants in Florence with the nicest waiters. The food there was delicious (steak, pizza, pasta, chicken) and reasonably priced. We kept on going back night after night as we never had a bad meal. My husband and I could also stay there late to finish our wine, while our teenage daughters took the key and returned to the apartment to watch TV. It seemed like a very safe neighborhood. Anne was an excellent host, providing us with all kinds of information at any time and a private driver to take us to wineries and other Tuscan sites. The location couldn't be beat, either. Everything was within walking distance, even the train station which was across town. Returning home to this apartment after a busy day of touring was always a pleasure. Thank you Anne!!

Good Location but only an "OK" Stay

The apartment on Via Ghibellina was spacious enough for the six of us. With the three bedrooms, large living and dining rooms and an adequate kitchen, the apartment in many ways was perfect for us. It was not a hard walk up to the room even though some of our bags were rather large. There is a lift in this building but not to this floor from the ground. It was also located near the areas we seemed to want to be which is important when you have a four year old in your party. The river was not a long walk away, piazza's everywhere, restaurants nearly on every corner and museums holding treasures all within a reasonably short radius of the apartment make this a great location. Benedict, our host, was well spoken and considerate and would have been quite helpful, I'm certain, had the need arrived. But there was one drawback that neither the location or Benedict's cheerfulness could overcome.

The street the apartment is situated upon is also the path of late night revelers (a lot of college students are here) returning home in groups from the pubs a bit further east. Because the street is so narrow and surrounded by marble and concrete there is nothing to soak up the noise and all of that pours into any open windows, especially windows as near the street as those of our apartment. Further, the apartment sits atop a marvelous restaurant, El Gatto et El Volpe, which draws a late night crowd. The noise can be, and was for us, quite overwhelming. Some nights there literally was no sleep to be had for the two of us in the street side bedroom. Thankfully, somehow the baby was able to sleep through most of it. If you can sleep with ear plugs, windows shut (we tried that but the rooms got too warm) and tend to wake early (necessary if you don't want to be awakened by the city gathering the trash around 6:00AM and hearing countless bottles being dumped into the trash removal truck) then this would be a four star stay.

Six of us very comfortably stayed in this fabulous apartment one year ago this month !!! My fault for not having placed a review sooner. The apartment is wonderful and Benedict was more than accomodating to our questions and needs. The location could not have been more perfectly placed; the restaurant downstairs was very convenient and our trip was by far EXTREMELY memorable. My only disappointment was I had to leave. Thank you again for making this a trip of a lifetime for my family and friends.

Beautiful and comfortable apartment

This rental is absolutely breath-taking! It is huge (about 2000 sf) and was more than enough space for our party of seven. Benedict and Anne were a pleasure to work with and very, very helpful in pointing us towards the grocery store for food. The kitchen is very well equiped and large. We also were able to wash and dry quite a bit of laundry with the large washer/dryer units. This unit is only a three minute walk to the Uffuzi and 10 minutes to the Duomo. This unit was, by far, our favorite of our trip! I highly, highly recommend this rental for any larger party traveling to Florence.

We stayed in this lovely apartment in October last year. It was spacious and very comfortable.
The restaurant downstairs Osteria del Gatto e la Volpe was great - the food was delicious and the staff most welcoming.
It was a dream to walk to the Mercato and bring back the local produce to cook and enjoy in the delightful dining room.
Looking forward to coming back in the not too distant future to enjoy the Florence experience again.
Thank you Benedict and Anne!

Anne & Benedict,

We wanted to thank you for letting us occupying your nice apartment last June. The family (6 adults and 1-year Luke) was absolutely delighted with our stay. Everything was simply PERFECT !

For the future lucky persons who will follow, we would highly recommend AccidentalTourist.com. We have spent a GREAT day off the touristic paths with these guys, visiting vineyards, tasting great chianti and olive oils and making pasta while laughing !

Cheers,

Lisa & Benoit

We stayed here June 2010 for 4 nights.
The place is very clean and well decorated. You feel at home. There were 8 of us and we had more than enough room. The washer and dryer were quite beneficial.
The location was great. It's less than a 5 minute walk from the Duomo and right in the middle of great shopping. A museum is next door!
The only draw backs: there is no elevator. While it's on the first floor you still must take the luggage up two flights of stairs. This is difficult for the handicapped. Also, the master bath is small and the shower needs updating. The other two baths were great.
All in all a great place and would highly recommend it.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for the comment, it was a pleasure having you at the apartment. It was very kind that you would take the time to write such a wonderful comment. I am happy you enjoyed your stay. I apologize for the fact that theer is no elevator access to the apartment. We already mention this on our listing but i will make sure i make it clear. The size of our bathtub is the standard European size of 170cm by 70cm. I am not sure what the size of the bathtubs are in the United States, but in Europe that is the standard size. Could you kindly also specify what you mean by the shower needs updating, so that i can take note and fix the problem. Thank you again for the positive comment. I hope you come to us again.

Great stay at wonderful place in an amazing city

Anne and Benedict were great hosts. Benedict met us upon our arrival. The apartment is a short 20 euro cab ride from the airport. Exchange dollars for euros at the airport because the balance for the apartment is due upon arrival in cash. We wished we had known this in advance. Italy is really cash based. Very few places take credit cards. The apartment has 3 bdrms, 3 baths, great living room and dining room - all with 20 foot ceilings. Well appointed. We traveled with five adults and had plenty of privacy. Internet provided to stay in touch with family back home. The central location was amazing - in the middle of shopping and restaurants, blocks from train/bus station, The Duoma, large fresh food markets and museums. It was a wonderful place to meet at the end of the day for a glass of wine and relax. We cooked dinner there several nights after going to the market for fresh pasta, meats and produce. We loved Firenze. The friendly people, the slower pace. We took advantage of Firenze's great location and made day trips to Pisa, Lucca, Roma, Siena, and Fiesole. We are already planning a return trip with our son when he graduates college. We also recommend Tuscan Trails wine tour. We took it our first day and learned so much about the area. Todd is an American married to an Italian and has lived there for 17 years. He loves Tuscany and knows as much about the area history and wine as anyone we met. We loved his tour.
This apartment would be great for couples and families. We were there during Holy Week so the street was a tad loud late into the night. Bring earplugs. Worth it.

Fabulous Everything

Our group had one couple, with an adult son, and two sisters. We needed an apartment that would accommodate everyone's privacy. This magnificent apartment not only did that but provided a refuge from long days of wandering. The apartment is gorgeously appointed and is located right next to the Bargello Museum (a favorite!). It is an easy 5 minute walk to the Uffizzi and the restaurant below is charming and good.

The living room and dining area of this apartment were so lovely that we often had a hard time leaving. The stereo system and CDs provided, created a peaceful setting for our meals at home.

I can't say enough good things about this property. I would not only recommend it to others but we plan to return in the not too distant future! Thanks, Anne.
