Magical Paris

We found this to be a lovely, clean apartment located and advertised as shown on the website. Sam was quick to answer E-Mails and had someone to greet us at the apartment when we arrived by train from London. There was a small mixup in our arrival time, but our greeter was there in a few minutes. She talked to us on the phone before we left the USA and that was very comforting. The apartment had everything that was stated and more, loved the pink toilet paper!. The free phone call to the USA was special and needed as there was a problem back home that we were able to deal with, thank you Samantha! The transportation system was steps away that took us all over the city to see the sights. Do you map planning before you come to Paris, so all you have to do is jump on the metro and in minutes you are at the Arc de Triomphe and Eiffel tower and other sights! Nice big bed and great smelling lavender liquid soap in the bathroom she supplied and that I was able to buy some for me at the Monoprix store around the corner! (brought some back to the USA). Paris is expensive but less than London, but there are many places to eat at a reasonable price. Hard Rock cafe is down the street, but I came to eat French cooking! The best buttery croissants ever! Thank you Samantha, hope to return to your apartment and experience more of Paris!
Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your lovely review. It is our absolute pleasure hosting such lovely people as yourselves and sharing with you in our own little way the enjoyment of Paris! Paris is a special place with so much to see as it is still standing since centuries! Delighted you enjoyed the apartment with its great location and little details such as the lovely lavender liquid soap - tres Parisienne! We hope to see you back soon. Take care Very best wishes Sam & family

Wonderful Christmas Vacation in Paris!

***** 5/5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sam's place in the heart of Paris with 3 small children aged, 6, 3 and 5 months old. We stayed there for 6 nights and was sad to leave without seeing any snow. Sam's description of the place was very accurate and the location was the best. We walked to the Louvre almost every day and was able to get on a hop on/hop off bus from Hard Rock Cafe just across the street. Sam's place was clean enough but we had to move some furniture around the studio to make enough space for all 5 of us. Even tho the studio was small it was cozy enough and we enjoyed our stay. Also on our last day Sam allowed us to check out late due to our late flight and having a baby. She accommodated every needs we had and was even willing to make an appointment with her doctor when i became ill for a day! When/if we go back to Paris, we'll definitely stay at Sam's place again. Thanks Sam, for such a wonderful experience in Paris!

We took our two teen-aged kids to London and Paris for Christmas break. Our stay at the flat in Paris was magical. Everything was better than expected. The flat was clean and tidy, with plenty of room for the four of us, certainly more than a hotel.

The apartment is centrally located, easy walking distance to L’Opera, the Louvre, Place de la Concorde and the pedestrian market along Rue Montorgueil. I’d recommend walking a lot; it allowed me to eat and drink my way through the city while losing two pounds in the process! Metro stops are also nearby. (If you have an iPhone, download the 99 cent Paris metro app; it will prove invaluable as it does not need internet access to work.)

Locally, we ate at Vaudeville (a bit pricy, but very nice), Victoria Station (great pizza and reasonable wine) and got baguettes and croissants at the nearby boulangeries. We also brought bread, wine, cheese and fruit home from the market at Montorgueil and had breakfast, lunch and snacks in a few days.

Samantha’s recommendations were spot on. She has a book with hints, places to see and shop, local super markets and other valuable information.

I cannot recommend this place more. The people in the building were polite and helpful. The area is clean and safe. There is plenty to see and do nearby with options for farther travel if you need or want. Samantha and her apartment made this portion of our trip perfect. If/when we return to Paris, we will stay here.

Lovely Apartment

We stayed in Sam's apartment for two weeks in March. It is exactly as presented on this site. Since I have difficulty walking, this apartment is a wonderful location, as there is a hop on hop off bus stop at Hard Rock. We booked tours through Viator to Normandy and for dinner at the Eiffel tower and show at Moulin Rouge. The local operator provided great service. The tours were great fun.

Sam's Mom saved us when we lost our keys by getting us in quickly and providing us with new keys. We also enjoyed our visit with her. Many thanks
Owner's Response: Thank you so much for the review. I am always delighted to hear how much you manage to fit into their stay and always so impressed! I will pass on your review to my Mum who will be delighted! Yes I agree having the hop on hop off bus stop at Hard Rock on your doorstep is very practical!! Take care and hope to see you back some day. Best regards Sam & family.

A Wonderful Week in Paris

This was the second time I stayed at the apartment and I will definitely stay here again. The apartment is centrally located and an easy walk to the Louvre, the Metro, shopping, groceries, and restaurants. In fact, my husband and I only used the Metro twice.Using the apartment as our starting point we walked everywhere including Montmarte, Notre Dame, and the Arc de Triomphe.
The owner's description of the studio is very accurate. The apartment is clean, comfortable and quiet. It easily accommodates 2-4 people.
Her directions to the apartment, for the TV and internet were easy to follow. She also responded quickly to my emails.
I have already recommended the apartment to friends and relatives
Owner's Response: It is a real pleasure to have families and friends returning to our apartment. Thank you so much for your lovely review. Yes although a fantastic and unbeatable central location the apartment is incredibly quiet! Wishing you and your family all the best. Hope to see you back again soon. Thank you very much. Best regards, Sam & family

Location great, description not so great.

The positives are; the location is wonderful, we walked everywhere; the bathroom was a good size with a good shower; the courtyard you walk through to get to the quaint lift is pretty; local amenities are good; some of the furniture was beautiful, particularly the antique sideboard; the 2 single beds were comfortable; adequate kitchen utensils for the time we stayed (3 nights); the cost was fair for the location.

The negatives for us were; poor correspondence, very last minute with arrival details which I had to ask for twice; NO king size bed! The description states "This apartment has a KING-SIZE bed, two single sofa beds.." this is NOT the case. Two single beds pushed together is not a king size and should maybe say twin beds? If you are on a romantic break (which it states this 'apartment' is suitable for), sleeping in separate beds is not so romantic. The two single sofa beds are 2 folded up thin foam mattress' that are stored in the hallway; the sofa is old, shabby and looks dirty; the apartment wasn't cleaned very well, skirting boards, windowsills and bathroom floor were dirty and the cream carpet was particularly marked and dirty.

We felt that even with a small amount of money spent to update some of this studio, it could be turned in to a very desirable, chic place to stay that would deserve 5 stars. The 3 stars we scored were for the location and price. I feel it would be fair to your potential customers to be more accurate with the description, in particular the KING SIZE bed.

To finish on a positive, I would recommend people to stay if the description was a little more accurate.

Gaby and Shaun
Owner's Response: This couple would never answer the phone or answer the door. Unfortunately I prepared the apartment incorrectly as we have different options. We do have a KING SIZE (with a secret zip) and I thought they had asked for 2 single beds. If they had tried to contact me I could have changed the bed into a KINGSIZE for their 1st night. This couple never tried to contact me and never opened the door when I knocked to say hello and collect the balance. The apartment is cleaned correctly for all our guests and presented as shown on the photos. The carpet is cleaned regularly throughtout the year owing to the large amount of guests.

When my Mum eventually managed to see them the morning they departed, the lady told my Mum that they had had a fantastic time and had walked everywhere and had blisters on her feet! She went on to say that on their last night they had walked along the Seine and saw the Eiffel Tower twinkle at night, so now they had seen the Tower both at night and in the day .. and that they have done everything and it had been wonderful.' so I am delighted they did not spend their 2 days in Paris looking at the skirting boards. Yes I agree that for the area where you usually pay 200 euros per night for a room - our generous 72 GBP a night for 42ms should be presented correctly. Thank you for your review.

Amazing Experience in Paris

The location is fantastic! It truly is close to everything. We walked everywhere and felt very safe. In terms of the room, it's cozy, comfortable and very quiet for four of us (we had two little kids). We would highly recommend this apartment. We had a magical time in Paris and Samantha's apartment played a big part.

A great location to visit Paris

Submitted: October 30, 2011 Stayed: September 2011
We had a wonderful time in Sam's apartment. While small, it is a typical size for Paris and four of us found it more than adequate. Besides, why spend time in an apartment when Paris is outside your door.

The apartment had everything you need and with a supermarket two blocks away and plenty of shops, restaurants and food stores near by, we didn’t feel the need to venture far or pay a lot for food. It was great to be in an area that was close to lots of things but didn’t feel like it was the centre of the tourist area. A great chance to experience life as a Parisian.

The little black books in the apartment have great tips for visitors to Paris left by others who have stayed there. We found these absolutely valuable.

The location is superb. Easy walk to the Opera or the Louvre and transport available nearby, you definitely do not need a car. We would definitely stay there again and have already recommended it to friends.

I stayed in Sam's apartment in September 2011 for 4 nights with a friend of mine. The apartment is on the 2nd top floor, accessible via the world's smallest lift and faces into a courtyard so is very quiet. In effect the place is one room + bathroom. The beds were comfortable and the place very clean. My only negative was the overall age of the furnishings (the chair/sofa were old and tired and the towels were many years past soft and fluffy!). Also, the shower head was in serious need of de-scaling. Other than that though I think the place offered great value for money, Sam was great at giving us the welcome info and the location was superb for seeing Paris. I think with a bit of new decor & furnishing the place could be considered 4*, but for now it's definitely a 3* apartment.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your review.

Yes you cannot beat the quality/price ratio for the area. The location is unbeatable and very safe. The apartment itself is very light as on the 6th floor and you can see the tip top of the Eiffel Towel which sparkles at night.

LIft:
The lift is a standard lift for Paris with a capacity of 3 people. Most buildings in Paris from 17th century do not have a lift and our guests appreciate this bonus.

Our furniture is in keeping with the style of the building and apartment. However taste and comfort supercede trends. Our guests enjoy being able to sit in a comfortable sofa and chair at the end of the day and put their feet up!

Towels:
Thank you very much. I have spoken to our laundry service who will check their production.

Shower:
Our guests appreciate the power of the shower and its massage and different settings. Limescale is rife in Paris and in ALL buildings. We have treated the problem with a descaler and do frequently.
